        Inside World

New York: Thea Westreich, 1989. Fine in gilt-stamped red boards, matching red slipcase; original artwork also fine. Flawless copy.. Deluxe Edition. Quarto in slipcase. Number 166 of 250 numbered copies; SIGNED by Prince and dated 1989. With a SIGNED handwritten joke laid in as issued: "'If I refuse to go to bed / with you,' she wispered [sic], 'Will / you really commit suicide?' / That's been my usual procedure." An early artists' book by Richard Prince, mostly full-bleed color images of cowboys, bikers, girlfriends, and jokes, with several pages of birdtalk scattered in. Sometimes overlooked is Prince's role as co-curator of the exhibition at Kent Gallery for which this book was published. In this capacity, Prince seamlessly weaves the work of Man Ray, Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, Cindy Sherman and Andy Warhol into his own narrative. So successful is this appropriation that most casual readers never notice the other collaborators.

The wedding of Bill Wyman to Mandy Smith. Mick Jagger & Keith Richards 02/06/1989.

745 x 520mm. Giclée Print using Archival pigment inks on Hahnemüle Fine Art Pearl 285gsm paper. Limited edition of 10 numbered copies signed by the photographer. Alan Davidson is a press photographer based in London for more than 30 years, Alan has photographed the rich, the famous, the before-they-were-famous to those that have fallen from grace. Going through his vast archive, with new treasures found within the old brown manilla envelopes, reads like a who's who of the great and good (and the very bad) of London society. Cinema stars rub shoulders with pop stars, royalty with politicians. Working from the late 1960s to the present day Alan remembers the days before celebrities became surrounded by 30 young publicists and before there were 50 photographers at every event you went to, allowing him to take intimate and relaxed portraits, unlike the anodyne syndicated press shots of today.

        RENT SPEL (Fair Play)

Helsinki: Schildts, 1989. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. First Edition. 114 pp. Printed in the Swedish language. Published in English for the first time (UK) in only 2007, Rent Spel is a short novel inspired by Tove Janssons relationship with life-partner Tuulikki Pietilä. A Fine copy in VG dustjacket (illustrated by the author) which has a small tear at the crown with microscopic loss. SIGNED at the title page. The original Schildts Swedish-language editions are always the rarest of Tove Janssons books as the intended market, Swedish-speaking Finns, i.e., account for only 5% of the population there, so intial print-runs were tailored accordingly. The author undertook little or no promotional work for her adult literature meaning those signed books which do exist are mostly those which were gifted to friends and acquaintances, books which are rarely surrendered back into the public domain. This is one such copy and comes with provenance.
