JEAN HARRIS
1988. Condition: Like New. This book was found in a thrift store in Suffolk County NY in February of 2013. The book is secondary in that inside it contains a folded stationary personal note and the envelope sent from Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in August of 1988 both handwritten by Jean Harris. (Envelope is postmarked) The note is about 45 words. If you are interested in purchasing this item, please email me with any questions and I will do my best to answer. Other name / address information are blocked out. RARE UNIQUE In the book by Jean Harris "THEY ALWAYS CALL US LADIES - Stories from Prison" there is a personal note (folded over stationary) and envelope it came with - hand written from Jean Harris. I assume the book was purchased, a person wrote to Jean Harris and she responded and the note and envelope was placed (attached) in the book when it was received over 30 years ago. The note is about 45 written words. There have been two movies made about the events of Jean Hill and Scarsdale Diet author, Dr. Herman Tarnower. There was The People vs Jean Harris in 1981 starring Ellen Burstyn and another movie in 2005 starring Annette Bening. Jean Hill was sentenced to 15 years in prison but was released in 1993. This book was found by me a few years back in a thrift store in Suffolk County, NY. Name / address are blocked out. There is no COA on this item. Dahl, Roald
Roald Dahl (1988) ‘Matilda‘, UK first edition, first printing, published by Jonathan Cape. Signed by Dahl on the ffep without personalisation in his typical bold black pen. Condition: a near fine book in a very good dust jacket. Very slight shelf wear with no major bumps. Clean boards, and clean page block without any foxing. No previous owners’ names nor scribbles. The Roald Dahl signature has offset on the front paset down and the front flap of the jacket. This is quite common with the pen the Dahl used to sign books. The dust jacket is very good with slight creases and the mentioned offset on the front flap. Not price clipped showing the correct GBP 8.50 net price. One of the scarcest signed Roald Dahl first editions and one of the most coveted as ‘Matilda’ is one of his best works. Published in October 1988 the book achieved immediate landmark status and is widely read among children and adults alike. Adapted as a film in 1996. Rolad Dahl sadly passed away in November 1990. Phyllis Karpp
Michigan, USA: Pierian Press, 1988. Everly Brothers Ike's Boys Book Hardback First Edition First Print so this is as desirable as they come! As you can see from the pics, this is in as new condition. High BIN to ward off resellers so please make me an offer. I would rather this went to a fan than a book seller. I did try to approach the fan clubs to personally make sure this went to someone that would cherish it, for assistance in valuing it and to simplify the sale without additional fees but some of the fans did not appreciate my method so instead I am listing it here and I'm guessing it's value based on others for sale elsewhere. Happy to accept cash on collection should anyone want to inspect the book in more detail and also willing to take additional pictures for anyone should they wish to check the condition of the book in more detail. I will be listing other books so feel free to check my other auctions. Please feel free to message me with genuine questions. Thanks.

Hall, Manly Palmer, 1901-1990
Los Angeles: Philosophical Research Society, 1988. First Edition. Quarto. Limited edition, number 153 of 500 copies signed by Hall. 249 pages. Issued in a small print run for the limited edition. Most of the early copies of this signed, limited edition were immediately purchased by members of the Philosophical Research Society. This was the last great work by the most important writer on mysticism who here incorporates his study of the Orient with the mystics of the West. He writes: "The discipline of meditation involves the expansion of awareness." What is difficult to articulate can be experienced by the mystic in moments of quiet contemplation. He calls for meditation as the necessary balance to the eternal questions that the mind ponders. What he first presented in the Secret Teaching of All Ages or what was issued first in 1928 as "An encyclopedic outline of Masonic, hermetic, Cabbalistic, and Rosicrucian symbolical philosophy" is elucidated with 126 illustrations from diverse mystical traditions with his integration of these widely ways of seeking inner wisdom which appear widely different but have a common core rooted in a balance of study and meditation. A near fine copy bound in color pictorial paper covered boards, spine lettering gilt, no names or bookplates. Very nice copy of this scarce work.

MOORE, Neil, illustrator (b. 1950); Eridiano BAZZARELLI
Verona: Alessandro Zanella for Verba Edizioni, 1988. Folio (13 x 8 inches). Text in Russian and Italian. 40, [1] pp. Three fine etchings by Neil Moore. Original wrappers with an etching by Moore mounted on front cover; slipcase. A fine copy. Item #403526 FIRST EDITION, number 50 of 90 copies signed by the illustrator. The Australian artist Neil Moore started his career as an etcher, and continued etching and painting after he moved to Italy in 1988. He typically does his own printing, but the etchings for this book were executed by Anna Zilotto. Moore's illustrations to this military epic are densely rendered, imbued with action and a Dürer-esque handling of line and shading. The illustration at left captures a moment of battle in medias res, the spears entering and leaving the frame of the image. Moore captures a dramatic interstitial moment between life to death, a vivid portrayal of the fallen and falling. The text is an Italian translation of the Old Slavic poem by an anonymous author, The Tale of Igor's Campaign, giving the account of the failed raid of Igor Svyatoslavich (d. 1202) against the Polovtsians of the Don River region. The authenticity of the poem has been questioned, but scholarship now generally agrees that it is authentic and dates to the 12th century. Alexander Borodin composed an opera based on the poem and staged it in St. Petersburg in 1890. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]
