Konvolut zur Karl-Marx-Siedlung Worms (2 Festschriften und über 400 Foto-Negative der 50er Jahre)

. - Die Sammlung besteht aus: Broschüre der Siedlergemeinschaft der Karl-Marx-Siedlung Worms (Festschrift zum 50jähr. Gründungsfest am 2. Oktober 1982) (Hg. Worms, Siedlergemeinschaft, 1982, 93 S., viele Abb., Seiten alle vom Rücken gelöst (einfache Klebebindung nötig) -------------- DABEI: Broschüre der Siedlergemeinschaft der Karl-Marx-Siedlung Worms (Festschrift zum 20jähr. Gründungsfest am 18 und 19. Oktober 1952) (Hg. [Attributes: Hard Cover]

        Strada S. Carlo in Napoli.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

West Hatfield, MA: Pennyroyal Press, 1982. Moser, Barry. Folio. 150pp. From an edition of 350 copies signed by Barry Moser, this is one of fifty reserved for patrons and participants. Laid in is an original ink drawing by Moser depicting the Mock Turtle. Illustrated with 75 wood engravings, some of which are full-page plates, while others are beautifully integrated into the layout. In this copy, each wood engraving, from the smallest vignette and endpaper design to the largest fold-out, is signed in pencil by the artist. Accompanied by an additional suite of the wood engravings, with each print signed by Moser, in a linen-covered chemise. Printed in five colors on a paper specially made for the Press by Strathmore Mills, with calligraphy by G. G. Laurens. The type is Bembo, in blue, black, and red. The edition was based on Carroll's corrections to his original text, and the story is accompanied by a gloss, printed in red, providing additional commentary written by one of America's leading Victorianists, James Kincaid. In a magnificent binding by Arno Werner of violet morocco, gilt-stamped with the design of an ornate key to the front cover. Housed in a morocco-backed linen clamshell box. A few abrasions to spine of box, with some color bleed from repair, else very fine. This was the first in a series of deluxe folio editions of classic texts printed at the Pennyroyal Press. It sold out almost immediately and has remained the most popular of Moser's oeuvre ever since.

Octavo. One page, written on the verso of a Ballot for the Executive Committee of the Cuyahoga County Republican Organization for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Undated but the election ballot on which it is written indicates 1982 or slightly thereafter. Fine. A letter of thanks from Jello Biafra, lead singer of the Dead Kennedys to a friend for the cassette the tapes: "I think I like Satan's Cheerleaders the best, but I'm surprised at how different the two sounded...", comments on his financial situation: "You're right, I'm pretty short on cash right now. Being a greenhorn independent is hard work & little pay but it's better than being owned & used." He mentions that he's never gotten around to making stickers, but "I'm sending you a nifty selection of flyers & posters for now. I'm sorry about folding them but mailing tubes are hard to come by out here." He concludes with a postscript about a mutual friend: "... now sporting a beat-up urban cowboy hat as well as a budding beer belly! He has also started to act more like a human being lately." .

The Art of Edmund Caldwell II

Mazoe Rhodesia: Frank Read Press, 1982. First Limited to 250 Copies . Half Leather. Near Fine. Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall. Signed by Publisher. 218 pp. Elephant folio. A completely handmade book. Copy #9 of only 250. All presubscribed prior to publication. Following the enthusiastic reception and mountains of compliments garnered by the first tribute to Caldwell, Frank Read Press did a second book, this on the artist's work in general. There are fabulous illustrations of African game (his watercolors are world renowned), references, notes, information on his studio, a bibliography of notes and references and a zoologist's appraisal of Caldwell's work. There are 44 full page colored plates of Caldwell's work each with a matching page of text. The quality of workmanship and materials has rarely been matched in bookmaking. Clearly this was a long labor of love for the Reeds and they made sure it would be a book that will long be remembered. Another fitting tribute to Caldwell's work. This copy has obviously neither been read nor changed hands often because it is in near fine condition in original red cloth over linin. Substantial additional postage.
