        Play It Again, Sam

New York: Random House, 1969. First edition. Octavo, original half cloth. Signed by Woody Allen on the title page. Near fine in an excellent dust jacket with some light wear. Hilarious...a cheerful romp. Not only are Mr. Allen's jokes and their follow ups, asides and twists audaciously brilliant, but he has a great sense of character" (The New York Times).

        [Manuscript]: "Death at the Chase"

[1969]. First. Typed manuscript bound in red cloth. Folio. Fine. Signed by the author on the title page. Mostly ribbon, and some carbon leaves, many corrections in type, a few in ink or pencil. Accompanied by a Typed Letter Signed and an Autograph Letter Signed from the author (both using his given name, J.I.M. Stewart) responding to an inquiry about purchasing some of his manuscripts, and offering this and another, A Family Affair. One of the TLS is particularly interesting in that it reveals: "There are no Michael Innes manuscripts in any strict sense. I work on a typewriter, revise the single copy thus produced to an extent requiring a certain amount of sisors [sic] and paste, and have a couple of xerox copies made of the result. But it is only of a few of the later novels that anything of this sort is extant. I could send you a paste-up of either DEATH AT THE CHASE or A FAMILY AFFAIR (PICTURE OF GUILT) and suggest that for either of them seventy-five dollars would be a fair price." Accompanied by a canceled check Signed by Stewart for $75. Thus, according to the author, one of very few of his existing manuscripts. .

50 Jahre Madaus: Eine aufgeschlossene Firma

Köln: Madaus, [1969]. Near fine in photo-illustrated card wrappers with all of the original parts and inserts present and intact (the mouse squeaks obediently); housed in the almost near fine photo-illustrated slipcase, with light rubbing to the extremities.. First Edition. Quarto. A company book celebrating the 50th anniversary of the German pharmaceutical company Madaus, designed by Sigfired Leuselhardt. Profusely illustrated with whimsical black-and-white images of corporate executives, factory workers, and mouse experiments by Barbara Schulten. With numerous pop-up elements, inserts, and interactive features, including one gatefold and a folded poster, interspersed throughout. While this Pop art landmark owes some of its inspiration to Andy Warhol's Index Book, the pharmaceutical center spread looks like it could have been lifted from Damien Hirst. With an original promotional pamphlet on Madaus laid in. (Parr / Badger, v2, 196-7; Auer 512).

The Shocking Truth (1920's UFO Contactee Account)

The Book Fund, Beverly, NJ 1969 - Beverly, NJ: The Book Fund, 1969. First Edition. Signed and inscribed by Coe on ffep verso. Illustrations by Thomas Lulevitch. Octavo, 112 pp. Teal cloth, unimprinted; white pictorial jacket. Book is in handsome shape but for some page-edge dust, some endpaper tape residue and very lightly bumped corners; very good plus. Jacket is complete, but soiled and with tape at top and bottom which was at one time used to affix it to the book; about VG. The two are separate now, and none the worse for it. Light musty scent. One of the rarest and most sought-after accounts in all of UFOlogy and abduction lore. It's extremely difficult find a copy of this book at all, let alone in a jacket and inscribed. In that sense, possibly unique. [H.] Albert Coe is one of a handful of widely-celebrated contactee claimants whose contacts were of the "Space Brother" (benevolent human-looking alien) form, and as such he's the subject of numerous internet sites, including wiki. His contention that his first contact occurred in the 1920's would make him the first modern contactee by several decades. Regardless of how one feels about his story and the subject matter, this is one captivating tale. Extraordinarily rare. L100 [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]
