Anatomie und Ätiologie der Genitalprolapse beim Weibe.

. Wien und Leipzig, Wilhelm Braumüller, 1907, 8°, XII, 273, (1) pp., 44 Abb. und 60 Tafeln; feiner Leinenband mit eingebundener Titelbroschur; eigenhändige Widmung "Herrn Prof.D. R. Paltauf in dankbarer Verehrung die Verfasser.". Erste Ausgabe- Bedeutendes Widmungsexemplar an Paltauf!

Leiden, E. J. Brill, 1907.. 8vo. (289)-405, 406-545 pp. With 2 folding maps and a folding table. Original printed wrappers.. First edition. - In 1645, Captain Cornelis Roobacker set out from Bandar Abbas with two small Dutch ships for the first trading mission to Basra, which could only be reached with small vessels in the shallow waters of the upper end of the Gulf. Three logbooks of this expedition have survived in the Dutch General State Archives; the only one of these to be published is the logbook no. 280a, here edited for the first and only time by A. Hotz. Among the plates are a modern map of the Gulf region as well as a 17th century Dutch nautical chart which the editor errouneously attributed to Roobacker. "Roobacker's ships had English charts on board, but Roobacker complained that they were very inaccurate [... He] made a chart of his travels between Laraq and Basra, with marks of depths and accurate notes on geographic latitude. This chart shows his progress up to Bubiyan" (Slot, The Origins of Kuwait [1991], p. 18). - Occasional slight foxing; spine broken; plates loose. - B. J. Slot, The Arabs of the Gulf 1602-1784, p. 11.

Original Sketch Book of Charles Waltensperger - Sketches in Spain

Hardcover. Twenty-seven pencil sketches of life in Spain (one double page) in the early 1900s. The first sketch, of Seville, is dated April 1907. Waltensperger (1870-1931) is known for interior genres and as an illustrator and painter in oils. This sketchbook contains views of Spanish towns (Seville, Toledo) , of country life, of architecture (the Alhambra) , of people observed going about their lives. At least a few of the sketches suggest they were intended as preliminary to paintings. The artist's craft and discretion before his subjects are both immediately apparent. The binding is shaken in places: a few of the sketches are disbound. The carrying strap in gray ribbon is still attached and intact. .

First edition, first impression of Hungarian-born Aurel Stein's (1869-1943) account of his first expedition to Chinese Turkestan (now Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region) in 1900-1. His findings revealed the extraordinary diversity of cultural forces at work in Khotan and its environs, situated as they were on the Silk Road. The influence of Buddhism was already known but Stein demonstrated the importance of Indian languages and culture in administration and daily life until at least the eighth century CE. Coins provide evidence for effective Chinese rule, Buddhist paintings betray Persian influence, while manuscripts and graffiti attest to the further presence of Tibetan culture. This work was also the first to demonstrate the spread of Graeco-Buddhist art forms from north-west India to Chinese Turkestan and China proper and contains eight appendices edited by Stein's peers, including D. S. Margoliouth, Laudian Professor of Arabic at Oxford, and noted sinologist Edouard Chavannes. Exceedingly rare in commerce, the sole three auction records for this book after 1949 pertain instead to the 1939 Chinese reprint in printed wrappers.

        Chamber Music

London: Elkin Mathews,, [1907]. Small octavo. Original green cloth, spine and front board lettered in gilt. Pictorial title page. Spine toned, tips rubbed, slight stains to boards, occasional very minor foxing. An excellent copy. First edition, first printing, second variant binding, with thick wove endpapers and the poems in signature C poorly centred on the page. It is now thought that very few copies of the first edition were actually gathered and bound in 1907 - perhaps only fifty or a hundred. When Joyce was famous in the 1920s, Elkin Mathews seem to have "rediscovered" the remainder and bound them up in a slightly darker green cloth.

Társadalmi forradalom. Az anarchisták lapja. Kapható mindenütt. Megjelenik minden kedden. [Társadalmi forradalom. (Social Revolution.) Newspaper of the Anarchists. Could Be Bought Anywhere. Published Every Tuesday.]

Muskát Miklós könyvnyomdája (ca. 1907), Budapest - Printed advertisement. 62 × 46,5 cm. "Társadalmi forradalom" was the first and only Hungarian anarchist newspaper. It was found, edited and later sponsored by the anarchist count Ervin Batthány. The newspaper was run for five years between 1907 and 1911, 94 numbers were published. It's main directives were organizing strikes and boycotts, facilitate the social and ecomomic awareness and antimilitarism. In the beginning it was published and printed at Battyhány's land at Bögöte in western Hungary, but very soon already from the eleventh number it was published in the capital, Budapest. Beside the Hungarian thinkers the most eminent figures of the anarchist and syndicalist movement were published in the newspaper, among others Peter Kropotkin, Jean Grave, Georges Yvetot, Emile Pouget and Enrico Malatesta. Ervin Batthyány (1887-1945) was a Hungarian anarchist nobleman. He studied in London and Cambridge, where he became personally acquainted with the prominent anarchist Peter (Pyort) Kropotkin. He has been influenced by the ideas of Edward Carpenter, William Morris and Leo Tolstoy as well, that turned him toward the Narodnik Movement, communism and anarchism. After he went back to Hungary and moved to his land Bögöte in 1905, he opened a free reform school for peasant children upon the same social principles as such schools were organized in England and Russia. He found a socialist publisher and established a printing house at the land, and planned to publish a political newspaper, a review and a socialist lexicon that could be used by the common people. The first numbers of "Társadalmi forradalom" were printed there. In 1910 he moved to England to his land at Lyme Regis and sold the Bögöte-land. He was active in the pacifist and anarchist movements during WWI, but later he gave up his political activities.
