Text by various authors. Limited to only 15 numbered copies and signed by Ross. Accordion fold. Conceived, designed, illustrated and printed by John Ross in the High Tide Press workshop on Rives BFK; set in Janson and printed on a Vandercook proofing press. Collagraph images with two three-page fold outs. When open the pages can be unfolded to show a pull-out soft ground etching of very large proportion with hand coloring. Prints done on a Brand etching press. Text by Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1833; Fynes Moryson, 1617; Charles Dickens, 1846; George Eliot, 1860; Percy Bysshe Shelley, 1818; Canon Pietro Casola, 1494; Philippe De Commynes, 1495; George Sand, 1854; Lord Byron, 1818; and William Beckford, 1780. Ross comments: "My wartime experiences in Italy lasted over a year without giving me the pleasures of a trip to Venice. It wasnt until 1949, during a nine month stay in Europe, that we first visited Venice. However, in the past 14 years, my wife (Clare Romano) and I have spent two months every summer living and working in Venice, absorbing the sights and feeling of this venerable city. Its architectural flamboyancies have impressed thousands of artists and writers through the years and I have joined this group. I have produced 4 books on Venice and may do more." A wonderful book, with a dramatic surprise of the fold-out etching.

John's Apples. Thirteen Paintings by John Wilde. Twelve Poems by Reeve Lindbergh

[Mt. Horeb, WI: The Perishable Press. 1995]. One of 125 numbered copies, on 10 different papers. Page size: 9-7/8 x 6- 3/4 inches, 102pp; 78 of which printed. Bound by the printer: drab paper over boards with rondel cut-out on upper panel showing color image of two Golden Delicious apples (one with bite mark), publisher's red pencil notation on illustration, linen spine, new. Printed on a Heidelberg CPC and an old Vandercook, the 14pt. Stempel Syntax was set by hand. Perishable Press's announcement of this book tells us that this is "Ostensibly, a children's book concerning apples via the paintings and poems. More apparently there is a[n]…agenda concerning 'admission of structure' which is an attempt to show how books grow from idea to artifact. Right off, the unfinished-looking front cover is Not glued down and two of the seven signatures are left uncut and untrimmed, replete with colorbars, etc.!" "An absolute pedagogical necessity for the children of all well-to-do graphic designers." The poems are charming, the images beautiful, but the book's structure is the real star, with pages reproduced in parts and/or in reverse in the back on various papers, some pages French fold, etc. My favorite page: blank except for the words "Eventually we have to choose." A lovely and intriguing book. PP #121. See an Image.

. Schwarze Kreide, mit mehreren schwarzen Tuschlinien umrandet, links unten zwischen zwei Linien signiert "Schütz junior fecit.", auf Bütten mit Wasserzeichen: bekröntes Wappen mit Posthorn. 17,8:26 cm. Provenienz: Sammlung Ernst Max von Grunelius, Frankfurt am Main Inv. Nr. V, 181 (auf ehemaligem verso bezeichnet); Sotheby's, Amsterdam, Sale AB 0631, 15.11.1995, Lot 120 mit Abb. Literatur: E. Schilling: Katalog der deutschen Zeichnungen. Alte Meister, 3 Bde., München 1973, Bd. I, Nr. 2013, Suppl. Taf. 297, Nr. 2014 (Inv. Nr. 1874), Abb. Bd. III, S. 230; Ph.

Anacleto, Jay / early original pin up art / Harrier Comics #2 1995

1995 Jay Anacleto: 1995 original ink & pencil pin-up art on illustration paper, for Harrier Comics #2, 1995. 'The Fly [alien]'. 11" x 17", image continues nearly to the edges. Slightly age-toned, else Fine. See scans. Protected within matting board, but not framed or matted. Unsigned, at least on the front. An extraordinarily textured, detailed, labor-intensive piece by Anacleto - a rare, EARLY published piece - executed for Harrier in his so-called "struggling years" in the Philippines, prior to his coming statewide to work for Marvel and DC etc . In the image, an imaginatively-clad space warrior floats weightlessly, among high-tech machinery and near another space-person, apparently outside a starship of some kind. Very detailed; the amount of work that goes into something like this continues to boggle the mind. Big and emphatic and worthy of dominating a room when hung. LART

Olivia: The Lingerie Collection / signed and numbered portfolio and frontispiece / Robert Bane Editions

Beverly Hills, CA: Robert Bane Editions, 1995 Beverly Hill, CA: Robert Bane Editions, 1995. Olivia / The Lingerie Collection. First and only edition, and limited. Signed and numbered in big bold gilt by Olivia (see scan). Pristine; new, including the gilt on white Robert Bane encasing portfolio. Elephant Folio size (20" x 16") executions, one as frontispiece (the one she has signed), and six more, apparently mostly from 1984: "Sheer Magic", "Memories", "Kitty", "I Generally Avoid Temptation Unless I Can't Resist", "John Hancock", and"Between Two Evils". Absolutely succulent offerings, allegedly (according to the frontispiece) in a signed, numbered edition of 8,000 - but I have trouble picturing Olivia sitting and executing that amazing signature 8,000 times, followed by a different number each time. And this portfolio seems to be extremely rare on the market, which an edition of 8,000, one would think, should not be - even one from 1995. In any case, this example is indeed signed and numbered - it's # 1,085, so she did get at least that far. Much sought after, and now very scarce. Pristine. LART

Winding Up the Serpent (Signed First Edition, Association Copy)

London: Macmillan, 1995. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Tan colored cloth over boards with title stamped in gilt onto spine, 8vo (8-1/2 inches tall), pp. 196, with "First published 1995 by Macmillan" and numberline starting with "1" on the copyright page. Inscribed and signed two times by the author on the title page, once under her printed name "Priscilla Masters." and then "To Jax and Peter with / regard and affection. / 'Cilla X.". Also inscribed by British crime author Peter Lovesey "A gift from my friend, Priscilla Masters / Peter Lovesey." Peter Lovesey wrote the jacket blurb for this title (Masters' first mystery) and has won both the Gold Dagger and the Cartier Diamond Dagger Awards for his work. An interesting association between two well know mystery writers, one at the very beginning of their carreer, the other aproaching the end.

OUR GAME (Pristine True First Edition in First State DW with Mint Uncorrected Proof and Mint Audio Book in First State sleeve)

Hodder & Stoughton 1995 - The first edition - which was not for sale in the UK and traded only at airports and, I believe, in parts of the former colonies - enjoyed a comparatively modest print-run. With most copies serving as a dog-eared alternative to the in-flight movie, truly immaculate copies like this are in genuinely short supply. This is a superbly pristine unread copy with pristine spine and boards, untouched, virginal pages and a mint dustjacket. AS NEW. It comes with an unopened copy of the audio book of the novel (still in publisher's shrinkwrap) as read by the author. The audiobook's sleeve - like the book's dw - is quite different from the version that was offered to the domestic market and is a rarity in its own right. AS NEW. Finally, the book is accompanied by a copy of the uncorrected proof, unread and in mint condition. All three items AS NEW. Extra postage applies. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
