[Koran]
Abbasidisch (Naher Osten oder Nordafrika), 9. Jh. 17 x 26,3 cm. Vokalzeichen (Punkte) in rot. 5 Zln. Handschriften in diesem Duktus werden gewöhnlich in das 9. nachchristliche Jahrhundert datiert; siehe: François Déroche, The Abbasid Tradition, London 1992 (The Nasser D. Khalili Collection of Islamic Art, Vol. I), Nrn. 19-23 (S. 67-71).

[Click Below for Full Description]

DENNIS JOHNSON
NEW YORK, NEW YORK: Jesus' Son Dennis Johnson SIGNED 1st PRINTING / 1st EDITION FARRAR, STRAUS & GIROUX 1992 ____________ FINE+ CONDITION. INCLUDES BRODART ARCHIVAL DUST JACKET COVER. DEFINITIONS OF CONDITION : VERY FINE (AS NEW/MINT) ~ Very Fine means the book is in the same immaculate condition as when it emerged from the bindery. There are no defects or marks, and the dust jacket (if it was issued with one) must be perfect and without any tears. In short, it is a copy that is close to perfect in every respect. It should be noted that in the real world, Very Fine books are relatively uncommon, and that most Antiquarian Booksellers use Fine as the highest condition grading. FINE ~ Fine is marginally less than perfect, and may designate a book that is still new, or a book that has been carefully read. The use of the term Fine (as compared to Near Fine or Very Good) often depends on when the book was published. A recent book should have no notable defects at all. But the dustjacket of a Fine older book may have a small closed tear, or be a little rubbed, even a bit worn at the edges. Such defects, if present, must be minor and should always be noted. (Note also that a book may be new and unread, but it may have aged on the shelf to the point of being considered Near Fine or even Very Good. Similarly a unique 200-year-old book might be viewed as "Fine", while a recent book in the exact same condition could only be described as "Very Good".) NEAR FINE ~ Somewhere between Very Good and Fine. The distinction is usually in the eye of the bookseller and involves minor defects (whi … [Click Below for Full Description]

Garcia Marquez, Gabriel.
Editorial Oveja Negra, Bogota, 1992. Twenty-fifth anniversary edition of the author's masterpiece, which is recognized as one of the most significant works in the Spanish literary canon. Octavo, original boards. Signed by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and the translator of this novel into English, Gregory Rabassa. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. "One Hundred Years of Solitude chronicles the life of Macondo, a fictional town based in part of Garcia Marquez's hometown of Aracataca, Colombia, and seven generations of the founding family, the Buendias. He creates a complex world with characters and events that display the full range of human experience. For the reader, the pleasure of the novel derives from its fast-paced narrative, humor, vivid characters, and fantasy elements. In this 'magic realism', the author combines imaginative flights of fancy with social realism to give us images of levitating priests, flying carpets, a four-year-long rainstorm, and a young woman ascending to heaven while folding sheets" (NYPL Books of the Century 31). At the conclusion of the 1970's this book was voted by the editors of The New York Times Book Review to be not only the best book published in the last ten years but the book most likely to still be read one hundred years from then. Glover, Crispin
Volcanic Eruptions, 1992. A collection of first editions and ephemera by Crispin Glover, from the collection of filmmaker Trent Harris. Included are Glover's first three avant-garde books, "Rat-Catching," "Oak Mott," and "Concrete Inspection," all of which were issued in limitations of 1000 copies, and are in this case each the best possible copy, numbered "-01," "0," and "0" respectively, and inscribed in the year of publication (with inscriptions that are colorful to say the least). Also included is a proof of Glover's first book, "Rat-Catching," one of reportedly only a handful of copies created by Glover for promotion, in a much larger format than the resulting book, with each page in a plastic protector, bound with silver clasp-rings. Last is an original poster for a 1979 signing event for Glover's first book. Harris directed a trio of short films between 1979 and 1985 now known as "The Beaver Trilogy," all featuring an eccentric character named "Groovin' Gary," a resident of Beaver, Utah, with whom the director was obsessed. "Gary" played himself in the first film ("The Beaver Kid," 1979), and was then represented by Sean Penn in the second film ("The Beaver Kid 2," 1981), and finally by Glover in the third installment ("The Orkly Kid," 1985). Glover has continued to make books and films, along with live performance art, all of which challenge conventions and boundaries. His work has its roots in the avant-grade, the early work of Werner Herzog and Frederick Wiseman, and the his ongoing interest in the lives of American outsiders and outsider culture. A remarkable col … [Click Below for Full Description]

November 7 - December 13 1992 Nigita City Art Museum. [Click Below for Full Description]

Ezra Weston Loomis Pound (1885-1972) was a major figure in the early modernist movement; his early poetry was devoted to the development of Imagism, a movement derived from classical Chinese and Japanese poetry, stressing clarity, precision and economy of language. Of this work, Cathay, Chinese critic Wai-lim Yip writes: "One can easily excommunicate Pound from the Forbidden City of Chinese studies, but it seems clear that in his dealings with Cathay, even when he is given only the barest details, he is able to get into the central concerns of the original author by what we may perhaps call a kind of clairvoyance" (N.B., above info from Wiki).
