A bright, most handsome copy of this always in-demand document BOLDLY SIGNED "M. (Minneapolis: Peter Gelma. 1992). First. First edition(?). 12mo. Red cloth gilt. Fine, no dustwrapper, probably as issued. Inscribed by the author: "1-21-93." An unrecorded first (?) edition, probably printed in very small numbers for the author, of a classic proto-steampunk novel, preceding by three years the novel's first appearance in the journal Quanta (the first digital science fiction journal). Precursors include H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, and films such as Fritz Lang's Metropolis. The first modern commercial novels include works by Michael Moorcock, K.W. Jeter, and James Blaylock. Pre-landscape / Hatsukuni

Heibon-Sha, Tokyo 1992 - 4to.: illustrated throughout in black-and-white; khaki green textured endpapers; gray boards stamped in black; pictorial dust-jacket embossed in silver; original black and silver obi (belly-band). As a co-founder of the short-lived, yet highly influential Provoke Magazine in the late 1960s, Takanashi is well known for his gritty urban documentary landscapes, which depict a postwar Japanese society as it transforms into a global economic power. His raw and confrontational images employ the blurred and out of focus ?are, bure, boke? visual style that helped define the Provoke Era in Japan. The book starts with a quote from the French writer Jean-Marie G. Le Clezio, ?I walk on this flatland with never any purpose,? which serves to highlight the duality between the abstract and concrete time that sets the tone for the 1980-1990 images Takanashi took while traveling the entire length of Japan. VISIONAIRE NO. 7: BLACK (FALL 1992) - DISPLAY COPY

(VISIONAIRE). Gan, Stephen, James Kaliardos & Cecilia Dean, Editors. VISIONAIRE NO. 7: BLACK (FALL 1992) - DISPLAY COPY. New York: Visionaire Publishing, 1992. First Edition 1/1500. 4to. Loose Plates in a Portfolio. Fashion Quarterly. Near Fine/No Jacket - As Issued. Individual sheets laid into a silkscreened, die-cut portfolio, profusely illustrated in monochrome. Designed by Mats Gustafson and Stephen Gan. Published in an edition of one thousand, five hundred copies, this is the seventh installment of everyone's favorite long-running luxe fashion quarterly, Visionaire. "With "Black", Visionaire doubled in size-and also in price. The issue was inspired by the season's all-black Comme des Garcons collection, Edward Gorey's macabre cartoons, and by artist Antoni Tapies. It was about darkness, the night, shadows, and what you may or may not see when you squint your eyes. A traditional artist's portfolio case tied with three black ribbons, provided the concept for the packaging. The die-cut letters were based on tears Stephen had made with scrap paper that enabled, once again, different first pages to peek through the cover". The contributors to this noir-ish issue are editor Stephen Gan, Edward Gorey, Ruben Toledo, Bill Cunningham, Elaine Gan, Juan Botas, Bruce Weber, Mats Gustafson, Mario Testino, Francois Berthoud, Karen Park, Gregory Foley, Bernard Figueroa, David McDonough, Mika Mizutani, Max Vadukl, Satoshi Sakusa, Peter Lindbergh, Ross Bleckner, Michel Haddi, Enrique Badulescu, Andrew Brucker, Philippe Salomon, Noelle Hoeppe, James Dignan, Michael Capotosto, Michael Stratton, and John Callahan; with a unique hand-assembled photcollage by Kristina Colovic. Grand Prix Suisse.

Bern, Hallwag, 1992 - 4°, 623 S., unzählige teilw. farb. Abb., OLwd, geprägt in Schmuckschuber, Moin gebrauchspurig, tadell. 6000 gr. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
