Eyelids of the Morning (Spectacular Autograph Treatment with Art)

San Francisco: Chronicle Books, 1990. 2nd Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. This is the 1990 Chronicle Books, San Francisco edition of Eyelids of the Morning. The true first edition was published by NY Graphics in 1974. Peter Beard is one of the great photographers of the 20th century. His photography books including Peter Beard, The Art Edition by Taschen, Eyelids of the Morning, The End of the Game, and Diary are among some of the finest ever published. Although he is noted for his unique signature treatments, for this copy of Eyelids of the Morning he really outdid himself. The two page spread on the title page and first free endpaper includes a photo of an elephant with the handwritten caption, The End of the Game Last Word from Paradise, a photo of a giraffe, a hand written quotation, By his sneerings a light doth shine and his eyes are like the Eyelids of the Morning, (JOB), his full signature with a dedication All My Best along with his Nairobi post office address, and finally his classic fountain pen droppings and brown brush strokes. The definitive book on crocodiles (mainly the giant ones in L. Turkana (formerly L. Rudolph), Northern Frontier District, Kenya), it contains over 100 incredible photographs. Measuring 10 x 14 inches, the book is a hardcover bound in dark blue cloth with gold stamping on the front cover and spine. The condition of the book is FINE in a FINE- dust jacket with very superficial wear.

WILLEM DIEPRAAM VINTAGE SILVER-GELATIN PRINT: "LOMO DE CORVINA, PANAMERICA SUR, LIMA, PERU, 1990" - Rare Framed Copy of The Vintage Limited-Edition Print - ONLY COPY ONLINE

Amsterdam, Netherlands: Willem Diepraam Studios, 1990 - 1st Printing. Signed. 1 pages. Published in 1990. Rare Silver-Gelatin Vintage Print of the classic Willem Diepraam photograph. Limited Edition of 15 signed, titled, and dated copies. Print size is 11 X 20 inches. It is elegantly framed in white matte stock paper and contrastingly rich dark wood frame. Full frame size is 29 X 23 inches. The back is mounted in Plexiglas in order to show the signature. The photograph is of a young boy being chased by a pack of wild dogs. The craggy, dotted landscape is streaked with long, undulating gray lines, as if by design, giving the image a powerful, abstract character. It looms over the tiny subjects and appears to envelop them, the Universal and the Particular merging as One. The photograph is named after the place where the incident actually took place, was witnessed, and captured permanently on film by Willem Diepraam (he will not reveal if the dogs caught up with the boy and killed him). As one has come to expect of a photographer who is both a moralist and a formalist, the image is an aesthetic triumph as well as a genuine evocation of unmitigated horror. One of his iconic images, it is beautifully reproduced as a doublespread in the monograph, "Willem Diepraam" (2001). Willem Diepraam is a Dutch photojournalist who has published several books in Europe, none of which is available here. Knowledge of his brilliant work is long overdue in the United States. An absolute "must-have" print for Willem Diepraam collectors. This is a copy of the Limited Edition, and it is very boldly and beautifully signed, titled, and dated in black ink-pen on verso (visible through the Plexiglas mounting on the back) by the photographer: "Willem Diepraam LOMO DE CORVINA, PANAMERICA SUR, LIMA, PERU, 1990" . This vintage print is a photography classic. All copies of the Limited Edition are now in private hands or public collections. As far as we know, this is the only copy available online, is elegantly framed, and has absolutely no flaws, a pristine beauty. It was obtained from Stephen Daiter Gallery Chicago, the photographer's American gallery, and a Certificate of Provenance from us comes with the print. A rare signed print thus. One of the greatest living photographers. A flawless collectible print. (SEE ALSO OTHER WILLEM DIEPRAAM TITLES IN OUR CATALOG) [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]

        Diebold Schillings Spiezer Bilderchronik.

Luzern, Faksimile Verlag 1990. - Folio. 808 S. (Faksimile) u. XI, 599 S. (Kommentarbd.). Mit 344 meist ganzs., originalgetreu reproduzierten Bildern. Weisser, blindgepr. Orig.-Pergamentbd. mit geprŠgten Metallapplikationen und 2 Schliessen sowie Orig.-Halbpergamentbd. mit RŸckenschild. Faksimile-Ausgabe der Handschrift Mss. hist. helv. I. 16 der Burgerbibiliothek Bern. - Tadellos sauberes Exemplar. Lang de

Archive of Original Photographs and Autograph Letter Signed

[c. 1990] - Sixteen original pieces of horror art (including one print and one set of contact sheets, in addition to photographs) by Potter, one of the most renowned contemporary fantasy artists. Potter uses traditional darkroom techniques to generate startling, often erotic, mind-bending, sensual images with both dramatic shock value and a dark sense of foreboding. His art has illustrated works by J.G. Ballard, Ray Bradbury, Stephen King, Poppy Z. Brite, Lucius Shepard, Ramsey Campbell, Clive Barker, William Gibson, William Burroughs and others. Poppy Z. Brite and Lydia Lunch are among his most frequent models. All of the photographs in this collection are from an unpublished book on his work. Most are 11" x 14", and most are signed by Potter. Together with an autograph letter signed by Potter to the would-be editor of the book, Stanley Wiater. Two pages, in which Potter weighs in on the idea of a dark fantasy children's book and works out the medium for an interview with Wiater. A fine collection from a work that was scuttled by the publisher and will never see light of day. Unique. [Attributes: Signed Copy]

Serigrafia, Limited 1990 - This is a complete collection, as issued, of six fine serigraph prints, one being the title print, and each of the other five illustrating a different Mother Goose rhyme. Each print is in its original glassine folder with a title label, and all are laid into the original cloth-backed folding clamshell box. Also laid in is a single sheet of letterpress text giving details on the careers of each of the artists. The sheets are large, 27 by 20.75 inches, and the box measures 28.5 by 22 inches. Each of the serigraphs is numbered and pencil signed by the artist. The illustrators who have provided pieces for this extraordinary collection are: Maurice Sendak, (title illustration), Chris Van Allsburg, Barry Moser, Seymour Chwast, Daniel Pelavin and Guy Billout. This is the most ambitious production from the fine art publishers Serigrafia. There were only 300 copies done, with 100 being retained for the use of the illustrators, 100 for Serigrafia, and 100 were donated to raise funds for The Children's Health Fund, founded in 1988 by Paul Simon to provide health care to disadvantaged children. This is a wonderful collection, with the prints, the letterpress and the box being uniformly fine, bright and clean. [Attributes: Signed Copy; Hard Cover]

There are six separate loose etchings included with this deluxe copy, each numbered and signed. The cassette recording of the play was produced and recorded October 4, 1979 at Elephant Recording Studio, London, with Charles Turner in the role of Fungus and Jack le White as Curmudgeonly. The play, "Fungus & Curmudgeonly," was written in 1976 and performed for the first time at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival that year then in Stratford-upon-Avon at the Macbeth Room, Shakespeare Hotel in summer 1977. Gerardo Guerrieri, Theatre Critic for "Il Giorno" Milan wrote, "...The play emerges as a formidable parody of Homo Shakespearianus, to be put in a Museum of Natural History. The Man-Showman, half actor with his unstoppable desire for applause...and half voyeur...The play has density, authenticity and originality..." This is certainly one of d&#39;Arbeloff&#39;s most important works. She has had a one- woman show at the Victoria and Albert and her books are in the Tate, Rijksmuseum Meermanno Westreenainum, Kunstgewerbe Museum, Biblioteca Nazionale, Australian National Library, Library of Congress, Newberry, Bridwell, Humanities Research Center, Houghton, Firestone, Grunwald Center, etc. <br>See an <A HREF= http://www.bookrouter.com/im/juvelisbks/3938.jpg >Image.</A><br>
