New York: Ariel Books, Farrar, Straus and Cudahy,/Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1962, 1973, 1978, 1986, 1989 - Five works, octavo. Original cloth, with the dust jackets. Wrinkle in very good condition, with rubbing to extremities and a faded spine panel, otherwise internally fresh, with the jacket chipped at the ends and corners with two closed tears to bottom of front panel and a few minor marks, Swiftly Tilting Planet with some small chips to the edges of the jacket. The other titles in excellent condition. First editions, first impression, inscribed and signed set, of the complete Time Quintet. A Wrinkle in Time, with a signed slip laid in, in the second state jacket (Newberry Prize sticker residue to front panel), together with signed or inscribed first impressions of the four sequential Time Quintet titles (an assembled set, with inscriptions to different recipients). A Wrinkle In Time is an important and classic children's fantasy work by Madeline L'Engle (1918-2007), originally aimed at young female readers but with major crossover appeal. Upon publication, it won numerous awards, including the 1963 Newbery Medal, the Sequoyah Book Award, and the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award, as well as being a runner-up for the Hans Christian Andersen Award. Having sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, L'Engle's novel has also seen several adaptations, including a film, a play, an opera, and a graphic novel. A Wrinkle in Time is particularly notable for being an early Sci-Fi novel with a female author and a female protagonist. The first impression is very scarce in commerce, with only 6 copies recorded at auction. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]

The wedding of Bill Wyman to Mandy Smith. Mick Jagger & Keith Richards 02/06/1989.

      - 745 x 520mm. Giclà e Print using Archival pigment inks on Hahnemüle Fine Art Pearl 285gsm paper. Limited edition of 10 numbered copies signed by the photographer. Alan Davidson is a press photographer based in London for more than 30 years, Alan has photographed the rich, the famous, the before-they-were-famous to those that have fallen from grace. Going through his vast archive, with new treasures found within the old brown manilla envelopes, reads like a who's who of the great and good (and the very bad) of London society. Cinema stars rub shoulders with pop stars, royalty with politicians. Working from the late 1960s to the present day Alan remembers the days before celebrities became surrounded by 30 young publicists and before there were 50 photographers at every event you went to, allowing him to take intimate and relaxed portraits, unlike the anodyne syndicated press shots of today.         Good Grief: The Story of Charles M. Schulz

CHARLES SCHULZ"This is an honest and unpretentious diary of a man who has charmed, amused and profoundly influenced us for over 40 years."Book inscribed and signed: "To Roberta with/every best wish/Charles M. Schulz" on first blank flyleaf. Above his signature, Schulz has drawn Snoopy, his popular "Peanuts" character. Good Grief: The Story of Charles M. Schulz by Rheta Grimsley Johnson, 264p, 6x9¼, hardcover. Pharos Books: New York, 1989. From the jacket notes: "In Good Grief: The Story of Charles M. Schulz, author Rheta Grimsley Johnson explores Shulz's wartime experiences, his development and creation of Charlie Brown, Snoopy and friends, his lifetime battle with depression and agoraphobia, his strong yet idiosyncratic moral and ethical code with its deep grounding in fundamentalist religion. Most touchingly, readers will learn the truth about the mysterious 'Little Red-Haired Girl' whom Charlie Brown will always pursue and Charles Sculz will never draw. This is a fully authorized portrait." Charles M. Schulz (1922-2000), a freelance cartoonist with "The Saturday Evening Post" (1948-1949), originally titled his single-panel cartoon about life's funny happenings "Li'l Folks". It debuted as a panel strip on October 2, 1950 as "Peanuts", a name Schulz disliked. Each strip was personally drawn, written, inked and lettered by "Sparky" Schulz, who created the strips in his office at One Snoopy Place and drank coffee at the Warm Puppy snack Bar. He died on February 12, 2000, the evening before his last "Peanuts" strip appeared in the Sunday editions of newspapers. Before Schulz's death, the strip was reproduced in a number of popular books, and his loveable characters were also seen on television and in feature films as well as on a wide variety of licensed "Peanuts" products. Schulz' award-winning work - he was Cartoonist of the Year in 1955 and again in 1965 - is still syndicated as "Classic Peanuts". In original dust jacket, which is slightly worn. Book is internally sound. Otherwise, fine condition.

The same marbled endpapers are used on the boards, with an overlay of copper on the front board, and grey leather on the back board and hinged spine. The text pages are all artistically designed, on the verso of most of the pages is an image done by color laser which highlights the individual book's exterior and/or interior design. The dust jacket is of grey linen bordered with the same hand-made marbled paper, the title in copper lettering on the spine, signature of D'Ambrosio in copper on the lower right corner of the front panel, the interior of the jacket is of black paper. ***CONDITION: The book is in fine condition overall, with some very faint marks on the copper overlay, and minimal marks on the leather spine transferred from the interior of the paper lining of the dust jacket. The dust jacket/chemise is also overall in fine condition, with just a few very tiny tears to the seams of the marbled paper and some extremely minor wear to some of the joints/outer creases. ***PROVENANCE: This book has been deaccessioned from the Book Club of California, their bookplate is on the front pastedown and their numbering convention is in pencil on the verso of the front free endpaper; no other markings are present. ***POSTAGE: International customers, please note that additional postage may apply, please contact seller for details. ***Swan's Fine Books is pleased to be a member of the ABAA, ILAB and IOBA and we stand behind every book we sell.
