        RENT SPEL (Fair Play)

Helsinki: Schildts, 1989. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. First Edition. 114 pp. Printed in the Swedish language. Published in English for the first time (UK) in only 2007, Rent Spel is a short novel inspired by Tove Janssons relationship with life-partner Tuulikki Pietilä. A Fine copy in VG dustjacket (illustrated by the author) which has a small tear at the crown with microscopic loss. SIGNED at the title page. The original Schildts Swedish-language editions are always the rarest of Tove Janssons books as the intended market, Swedish-speaking Finns, i.e., account for only 5% of the population there, so intial print-runs were tailored accordingly. The author undertook little or no promotional work for her adult literature meaning those signed books which do exist are mostly those which were gifted to friends and acquaintances, books which are rarely surrendered back into the public domain. This is one such copy and comes with provenance.

SIGNED 1st Australian edition (TRUE 1st edition) THE POWER OF ONE

William Heinemann Australia, 1989 THE POWER OF ONE ***** signed by Bryce in year of publication (1989), evidenced by the early signature (compare to his modern signature) ***** THE POWER OF ONE was first published in Australia by William Heinemann Australia. ***** Signed and inscribed TRUE first edition, published in Australia by William Heinemann Australia. The author's home country was Australia, so his books were first published there. This title was also published in London and New York. This copy was signed and inscribed in 1989. Bryce, beginning in 1995 with the publication of THE POTATO FACTORY, embellished his signature and made it more flowery, and switched to using felt markers. As you can see, the signature on this copy is not flowery, and was made using a ball-point pen. This book is very good as is it dust jacket/wrapper. Some wear to corners of DJ and some mild foxing to page edges. ***** It is exceedingly scarce, ONE-OF-A-KIND, as no other signed copy of the Australian first edition is for sale anywhere else. ***** A must for the serious collector. You will not find another signed copy of this edition of POWER OF ONE anywhere else. Just search and you will see I am telling the truth.

Clavis Artis.

8 Bll., 147 S. (Titel in schwarz/rot), 6 Bll. (Index), Kl.-8, Gemusterter Interimskarton d. Zt. Ferguson II, 570 (Anmerkung) Duveen 634 Ferchl 598 Neu 4438 Brüning 4327 Kopp II, 364. - Selten.
