An original contemporary (1988) color photograph of Jim Stryker, the single most popular and most good-looking male-nude model discovered by Walter Kundzicz, in one of his earliest (and very few) full-frontal nude portraits. The photograph measures 3.5 X 5 inches and is presented "bleed". Champion Studio&#39;s vintage prints were "pocket size" and had white borders, the widespread practice in the 1960&#39;s. It is encased in a protective plastic sheet. The photograph shows Jim Stryker in a Modern full-profile pose, Perfection Incarnate, with a semi-erect penis. He is photographed in a dramatically lit studio setting and has close-cropped hair (Stryker grew his hair out for his later sessions with Kundzicz). The photograph belonged to the small surviving number of portraits in Walter Kundzicz&#39;s possession. The original prints were taken by Kundzicz&#39;s partner after Champion Studios dissolved, have completely vanished, and never been found. Furthermore, Stryker did not pose completely nude again in any of his later iconic portraits, and this photograph does not appear in Walter Kundzicz&#39;s "Champion" book. Jim Stryker is the prototypical All-American male beauty. He anticipates by about two decades the model/stars of the reigning American photographer of the male nude, Bruce Weber. This is the genuine article, not just memorabilia, a "must-have" collectible for Jim Stryker, Walter Kundzicz/Champion, and male erotic art photography collectors. <b><i> This is an original color print. This is #256 of 350 copies signed by the author. The author&#39;s first signed limited edition, and a significant signature since, at the time, Garcia Marquez was not allowed to enter the U.S. due to his relationships with Cuban leader Fidel Castro. Bound in pink cloth and black boards, with gold gilt title on spine. Cover boards are clean. Acetate dust jacket has no tears or stains, with little wear. Interior is clean and unmarked. Binding is solid. Slipcase is bright and clean. This is the translation of: "El amor en los tiempos del cólera" from the Spanish by Edith Grossman. A gift-quality copy of one of the best novels by the Nobel Prize winning fiction writer.

Ein gutes und sauberes Exemplar. - During the 1960s, when curious and radical art activities took place, one would gather up a batch of posters and snapshots and other little bits and mail them off to Dr. Hanns Sohm in Markgröningen, West Germany. It was a ritual repeated hundreds of times in numerous countries. I think many of us were not too clear who the addressee was, except that he was someone who cared as deeply and passionately about the activities as those who did them. What to most was junk and a candidate for the dust bin was to Sohm a treasure. One even heard rumors that he organized and filed the bits in a coherent manner, rather than just dropping them in a box to accumulate dust as most did. Then, in 1969 artists received nicely printed cards asking that they list all their performance activities, publi-cations, reviews, etc. There was going to be a show in Cologne and he needed the information for a catalogue. What appeared the next year was the landmark HAPPENING & FLUXUS, a book of extraordinary value chronicling the decade. For the first time, one realized that like activities were taking place all over the world. A typical page of the book listed: Bengt af Klintberg's "Orangerimusik" in Stockholm and Uppsala; Allan Kaprow's "Bon Marche" in Paris; "Fluxus Festival of Total Art" in Nice; Ken Dewey's "A.C.T. of San Francisco Yliopplasteatteri" in Helskinki; Al Hansen's "Parisol 4 Marisol" in New York; Hi Red Center Group's "Por Rogy" in Tokyo; "New Music at the Pocket Theater" with many Fluxus artists participating in New York; "1 st Festival of Avantgarde" organized by Charlotte Moorman in New York; and Robert Whitman's "Water" in Los Angeles. In the summer of 1978, when we were just beginning the Silverman Fluxus Collection, two seemingly simple but troubling questions came up that had unforeseen consequences. The first question was what constitutes a Fluxus work? And the second, what were these works? Out of curiousity I prepared a group of pages for each Fluxus artist, listing all the works I could find in various Fluxus newspapers, putting works already in the Silverman Collection above a line and others below the line. That next year, Gilbert and Lila Silverman travelled to West Germany and stopped in Markgröningen, a small village near Stuttgart. There, the Silvermans paid a visit to Hanns Sohm. The visit extended to several days as Sohm carefully went over the list of Fluxus works, marking each, indicating whether it was known to exist or not, or that he had seen it but it wasn't in his collection, and showing the Silvermans the works in his magnificent Fluxus collection. Always sharing a contagious passion for the material, his hospitality knew no limits as days extended into nights. That, then, was the beginning of this book. The lists expanded ten fold as more references were located and the definition of Fluxus product became clearer. It was that initial visit which was the catalyst. Hanns Sohm, over the years, has furthered the knowledge of Fluxus and other radical art movements, sharing information with scholars and students, and especially artists, helping many with purchases and numerous other encouragements. A few years ago Dr. Sohm placed his invaluable collection in the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart where it will permanently be available to study and to learn from. Inscribed by the author in black ink at the head of the half title "Pour Josette / affectueusement / Sam / 28.5.88". The recipient Josette was the wife of the cubist artist Henri Hayden (1883-1970). The Haydens first encountered Beckett in 1943 in Roussillon, a small village in France where Beckett was in hiding and Henri and Josette had arrived, also in flight from the Nazis.
