Dietikon, Urs Graf, 1988/89 - Kl.8° (8,4 x 6,0 cm), 31 unpag. S., 31 Textseiten, 30 farb. Abb (Holzschnitte), gedruckt auf spezielles Büttenpapier; Kommentarbd. 221 S., Faksimile in OLdr-Handeinband. m. 4 echte Bünden; Kommentarbd.: Okart. mit Ldr.-Rückenschild, Tadell. Vergriffen. 1100 gr.         A Brief History of Time. From the Big Bang to Black Holes

New York: Bantam Books,, 1988. Introduction by Carl Sagan. Illustrations by Ron Miller. [Together with a copy of the first published edition.] 2 volumes, octavo. Original black cloth backed black boards, titles to spines in silver. With the dust jackets. Illustrations and diagrams throughout. Volume I: A little fading to edges of boards. An excellent copy in the jacket with just a couple of tiny creases. Volume II: A little fading to edges of boards and to upper board. An excellent copy in the jacket with just a few minor production flaw creases to the upper panel. The rare, suppressed first printing of Hawking's best-seller. The first printing was recalled from shops due to a number of errors: it lacks the contents and dedication pages, and figures 2.5 and 2.6 on page 27 are reversed. The dust jacket was also changed, with that of the suppressed printing being a silvery light-blue and the second printing dark blue. Loosely inserted in volume I is a memo from the publisher requesting that copies of the first printing be removed from shelves and returned to them. A superb set.

Femininity is an unstable and impossible notion: this could be the evanescent theme of Jeanne Lanvin. This volume is inspired by her myth, which seems to grow greater and greater, even as she becomes lost in the mists of time. - Libro nuovo
