        Neopostmodernism: Gabberjabb Number 6

Perishable Press, (Mt. Horeb, WI) 1988 - Hamady's Interminable Gabberjabb series, begun in 1973 and comprising eight books by its end in 2005, is considered to have "changed the face of contemporary book arts in the United States" (Univ. of Arizona Poetry Center). This, the sixth book in the series, was published seven years after the fifth, and the limitation was reduced for this book from 200 to 125 copies. An eclectic and elaborate production: attempting to "read" the book sequentially involves carefully discovering how each page or gathering "works" and discovering the surprises the book has in store. This is copy number 87, date-stamped December 7, 1988. Signed by Hamady, his assistant Kent Kasuboske, and the binder Marta Gomez. Additionally annotated by Hamady on December 8: "Fore edged and embellished yesterday wrappered today by WH (sunny but cold 20 degrees)(F)." Fine.         Toward a New Philosophy of Biology: Observations of an Evolutionist

Cambridge, MA: Belknap Press of Harvard University Press, 1988. First Edition. Hardcover Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 563 pages. A collection of essays suggesting new philosophical underpinnings for the science of biology. The essays are revised from earlier publications and some appear here for the first time. First edition (first printing). Near fine in a near fine dust jacket with light surface scuffing. This is a remarkable association copy between two of the great Darwinian evolutionists of the twentieth century. The book is inscribed, 'To Steve Gould, in friendship and admiration, Ernst.' Stephen Jay Gould was a college of Mayr's at Harvard and credits Mayr for inspiring his important first book, Phylogeny and Ontology: 'Ernst Mayr, in a passing comment, suggested I write this book'--p. vii. Mayr, in this book, cites Gould's work on 11 pages, as much as most any scientist. Gould called Mayr, 'the dean of modern Darwinians' (Leonardo's Mountain of Clams, p. 329). Books signed by Mayr are uncommon. Association copies of this caliber are rare.

Zweiwochenschrift. Hrsg. von Hans Leybold (Nr. 5 hrsg. von Franz Jung). 1. Jahrg., Hefte 1-5. [Alles Erschienene.]

Gegen literaturbehaftete Oberlehrer, kunstsinnige Kritiker, allgemeine Rundschauer. In summa: Gegen Zuständliches. Und fügte hinzu:Nichtschriftsteller heraus! Keine Literaten sollen gezüchtet werden. Da hatte man die Revolution! Da war sie. 20 Jahre alt war der Kerl. Sehr hurtig. Und paffte einfach drauf los.? (Die weissen Blätter. Jahrg. 2, Heft 4. S. 525.) - Die fünf Nummern enthalten u.a. Beiträge von Hugo Ball, Johannes R. Becher, Ernst Blass, Franz Blei, Max Brod, Leonhard Frank, Iwan Goll, Walter Hasenclever, Emmy Hennings, Kurt Hiller, Jakob van Hoddis, Richard Huelsenbeck, Franz Jung, Klabund, Else Lasker-Schüler, Alfred Lichtenstein, Erich Mühsam, Robert Musil, Karl Otten, Ludwig Rubiner, René Schickele. Nr. 1 an Rücken u. Seitenkanten mit kleinen dezenten Restaurierungen u. Buchhandelsstempel, Umschlag von Nr. 1 u. Nr. 4 mit schwachen Notizen in Blei. Insgesamt gut erhaltene Folge der seltenen Reihe. - Raabe, Zeitschriften 16. - Raabe, Kat. Marbach 25.3. - Jentsch 11. - Dietzel/Hügel 2498. - Schlawe S. 14f. - Dada global S. 88. - Verkauf 181. - Akademie der Künste, Kat. 154, II 55. - Fähnders 34 u. 300. - Bolliger VI, 12.
