New York, Tor, 1985. First Edition. First Impression. First hardback edition. One of the highlights of modern speculative fiction. Ender's Game is one of those titles that always appears in the 'Best SF' lists. Many, if not most speculative works focus on the adventure of a story, some focus on the philosophy. It's rare for a work to accomplish both with such effect. The book itself is in decent shope, it has a slight lean and the jacket has light bumping to the spine tips and corners. Some toning to the block and a little odour, boards neat with just the odd mark here and there. Flaps a touch toned. A respectable copy. [Broderick & Di Filippo, p16 - SF 101 Best Novels - 1985-2010; Andrews & Rennison, p39 - 100 Must-Read SF Novels]. Supreme Court of the United States; Brennan, W.
1985. Slip Opinion Signed by William Brennan. Pre-US Reports Printing of a Notable Supreme Court Case Concerning the Establishment Clause Signed by Justice Brennan Supreme Court of the United States. [Brennan, William (1906-1997)]. (Slip Opinion) Aguilar et Al. v. Fenton et Al. [Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, 1985]. ii, 12, 5, [i], 3, [1], 2, 12 pp. Complete. Signature of Justice Brennan to head of first page. Fine. $500. * Based on the First Amendment establishment clause, this decision invalidated a New York City program that provided public school teachers to parochial schools to teach special-needs children. Justice Brennan wrote the opinion of the Court, which was joined by Justices Marshall, Blackmun, Powell and Stevens. Bench opinions are issued by the U.S. Supreme Court immediately after the announcement of a decision. Slip opinions are issued afterwards. Often incorporating corrections, they are the first printings of a decision intended for wide dissemination and review. After that stage the revised slip opinions are added to the latest paperback volume of U.S. Reports. A year later, that volume is printed in its final, authoritative, hardcover form. Barker, Clive
London, England: Weidenfeld & Nicholson, 1985. 1st British Edition; 1st Printing. Hardcover. First Hardcover Trade Editions. Six Volume set All books are in Very Good+ condition and have Near Fine dust jackets. All copies have been signed and dated on the front endpapers by the author Clive Barker. The books and its contents are in mostly clean, bright condition. The text pages are clean, but all of them have some toning due to the acid content of the paper. The dust jackets are crisp cand clean. "They were published between 1984 and 1985. With the publication of the first volume, Barker became an overnight sensation and was hailed by Stephen King as "the future of horror". The book won both the British and World Fantasy Awards. Although undoubtedly horror stories, like most of Barker's work they mix fantasy themes in as well. The unrelentingly bleak tales invariably take place in a contemporary setting, usually featuring everyday people who become embroiled in terrifying or mysterious events. Barker has stated in Faces of Fear that an inspiration for the Books of Blood was when he read Dark Forces in the early 1980s and realised that a horror story collection need not have any narrow themes, consistent tone or restrictions. The stories could range from the humorous to the truly horrific." (from Wikipedia) ; Signed by Author. Very Good+ in Near Fine dust jacket .

The Mahzor of Worms was produced in 1272 on the Rhine and used by the cantors of Worms for more than 650 years as their "official" festival prayer book. Gloriously illustrated mahzorim, especially in the Ashkenazic tradition, have come down to the present from the 13th century and the Mahzor of Worms is an impressive example. While the early manuscripts of this type were only sparsely illustrated, the Mahzor of Worms develops a very special decoration pattern. Virtually all festivals are illustrated to accompany the relevant text. These illuminated scenes reflect the life of … [Click Below for Full Description]

David, Elizabeth
Dorling Kindersley, London, 1985. First edition of the re-issue of this classic work. Quarto, original illustrated boards, illustrated throughout. Boldly signed by Elizabeth David on the title page. Fine in a fine dust jacket. Line drawings by Adrian Daintrey. Photograph of Elizabeth David by Cecil Beaton. For the great English food writer Elizabeth David, summer fare means neither tepid nor timid. Her stress is always on fresh, seasonal food-- recipes that can be quickly prepared and slowly savored, from Gnocchi alla Genovese ("simply an excuse for eating pesto") to La Poule au Pot to Gooseberry Fool. Divided into such sections as Soup, Poultry and Game, Vegetables, and Dessert, her classic includes an overview of herbs as well as chapters on impromptu cooking for holidays and picnics. Chockablock with both invaluable instructions and tart rejoinders to the pallid and the overblown, Summer Cooking is a witty, precise companion for feasting in the warmer months.
