1985. ***Copy of photos, personal formats, graphics, or text is prohibited. Ebay may drop listings with infractions. I review content regularly. Oxford Library of Charles Dickens Complete 21 volume collection! Author: Charles Dickens Illustrations by Description: -- SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION of the Franklin Library, Oxford Library of Charles Dickens. Limited to just 7,500 sets back around 1985! In addition to the stunning Oxford Library of Great Books (I also have for sale), Franklin Library and Oxford did another collaboration of an entire Charles Dickens Library. It is one of the most beautiful Dickens sets by any maker and one of my favorites. This is one of several I keep in my own library as I consider it essential for any collector of Franklin Library or Easton Press (which I also keep). The Two tone leather inlay and ornate gilt design make these a focal point of any well appointed leather library. It is certainly one of the crown jewels of Franklin Library and Easton Press collections. The illustrations are classic and include the traditional or original names you would expect. ***Please and kindly, no unsolicited offers. The set is reasonably and appropriately priced within its historical range. Condition: This is a large open set, so there will always be flaws no matter what any seller tries to tell you. This set shows some light shelf wear. Leathers are bright with light signs of wear. You will find a few bumped corners, but most are quite square. Some marr to gilt page ends with light marks here and there and a whiff of scuff to the top page ends. This Fine Leathe … [Click Below for Full Description]

Haruki Murakami
First edition, first printing, published by Kodansha (Tokyo, 1985). Murakami's first book to be translated into English, and done so in Japan to help Japanese readers learn English. With scarce Obi wraparound band which shows some rubbing and one tiny tear but still presentable. Book condition: near fine, just a few tiny dark spots to top of spine and one over onto front wraps. A very nice example, otherwise clean, bright and supple. Dust jacket condition: very good, a touch of wear to spine about halfway up and some negligible edgewear to spine ends and at folds. Bright and clean, and really quite nice. [Attributes: First Edition; Soft Cover; In Dust Jacket]

STEWART, Joffre
[Chicago: by the author, c. 1985-2004]. Ephemera. A likely unique collection of Stewart's highly eccentric broadsheet poems and screeds, which he has distributed on street-corners, poetry readings and through the mails at least since the late 1950s, when he received a cameo in Allen Ginsberg's Howl as a man "...with big pacifist eyes / sexy in their dark skin passing out incomprehensible leaflets." Stewart was an interesting peripheral figure in the Beat scene, even running for President in the Beatnik Party's 1960 "Anti-Candidate" campaign. Through the Sixties and Seventies Stewart's political discourse began to move further to the margins, ultimately crystallizing around his central issues of pacifism, anti-statism, and (especially) a virulent anti-Zionism, a stance which has earned him a reputation as an anti-Semite and gotten him banned from many public forums around Chicago. Stewart however insists that his anti-Zionism is not racist in origin; on the contrary, "..to be an anti-Zionist does not exclude Jews...some of the best anti-Zionists, some of the strongest speaking anti-Zionists are Jews...as a pacifist, I'm more harmless for Jews than Jews are to each other!" (interview with the author, City Table Review, 2007). Such statements notwithstanding, many of Stewart's broadsides bear highly provocative headlines such as "Let Us Destroy the Jewish State!;" "Denounce the Jewish Chauvinist Censorship at Autonomous Zone!" (Autonomous Zone was a Chicago anarchist community center from which Stewart was banned in 1994); and "Jewish Chauvinism is alive and threatening in … [Click Below for Full Description]

Fritz, Marianne
Suhrkamp, 1985. First edition. 12mo, 215 pp, printed wraps. With a publisher's advertising pamphlet laid in. With a lengthy inscription from Marianne Fritz at the title page: "für den lieben Herrn Ministerialrat Dr. Hermann Mayer, dem ich nie vergessen werde, wie er sich geschreckt hat damals - nach dem 28. Februar 1985. Fritz's third book, published in advance of her Dessen Sprache du Nicht Verstehst, and also includes a listing of all the characters in that novel, as well as a critical introduction to her work by Heinz Schafroth. Inscriptions or contemporary signatures in the trade editions of Fritz's books are rare, perhaps because of her increasing isolation as she began work on The Fortress, of which this is the first installment. Spine with reading creases, and some light traces of soiling to wraps; a very good copy. The laid in advertising brochure with the title underlined in red ink. A copy which appears to have been read, and rather scarce thus. [Attributes: First Edition]
