1985. Vintage original film script, USA. By David Cronenberg and Charles Edward Pogue from the story by George Lanelaan September 5, 1985." Blue titled wrappers, dated September 5, 1985. Title page present, dated September 5, 1985, with credits for screenwriters Cronenberg and Pogue, and for writer Langelaan. Brad bound, 94 leaves. Â Following an arduous production process, THE FLY was released in 1986 to favorable reviews. This remake of the 1958 science-fiction film outlines the horrific repercussions of an experiment gone awry. Eccentric inventor Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) begins to undergo an unexpected and horrific mutation when a common house fly slips into his newly invented teleportation device. Winner of Academy Award for Best Makeup and three Saturn Awards. Â David Cronenberg's THE FLY is one of those rare movie remakes that most viewers consider superior to the original. Indeed, the 1958 film version is not credited. (What we don't get in the '86 version is the '58 version's brilliantly Kafkaesque closing image the tiny fly with the man's head caught in a spider's web screaming," Help meeee!") Â Surprisingly, this film was not a Cronenberg project to begin with. The project originated with Charles Edward Pogue, a screenwriter (PSYCHO III) and playwright with ties … [Click Below for Full Description]

McCarthy, Cormac
New York: Random House, 1985. Uncorrected Proof. 327 pp. Advance uncorrected proof of the first edition. Bound in publisher's yellow wraps printed in black. Very Good or better. Seemingly excess binder's glue visible at front and rear inner hinges, though perhaps an inexpert repair, with associated creasing to front cover near spine joint. Tiny abrasion to front cover obscuring the "f" in "proof." Light soiling, and a small mark to the inside of the rear cover. A scarce format of one of McCarthy's earlier and most acclaimed novels. House in a custom chemise case. Very Good.

Both books are housed in their original publisher's velvet lined clamshell box. The Kennicott Bible is the most lavishly illuminated Hebrew Bible to survive from medieval Spain and combines Islamic, Christian, and popular motifs. It has an inscription identifying the artist, rare in Hebrew manuscripts. The Bible owes its name to the English Hebraist Benjamin Kennicott (1718-83), who acquired it while librarian of the Radcliffe Library, Oxford. The history of the manuscript between the Expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492 and the 18th century remains a mystery. Published as a sumptuous facsimile after five and a half years in the making, the Kennicott Bible facsimile, inspired and enthusiastically supported by the late David Patterson, was acclaimed by many libraries, including the Bodleian Library, as the best quality that had ever been achieved in a facsimile. This was partly due to the excellent condition of the original manuscript, but to a greater extent to the undiminishing quest for perfection at every stage of its reproduction. PULLMAN, Philip
London Oxford University Press. Oxford University Press 1985 1st edition 14.3 x 22cm red cloth with silver titles to the spine, 200pp with original unclipped dust jacket with £6.96 net price. The book has been signed on the title page by Philip Pullman. A near fine book with clean bright boards and sharp corners. Internally, there is the usual uniform toning to the pages resulting from the quality of the paper stock used. The author has signed the title page in blue biro. The dust jacket is near fine with only a little light creasing to the spine and only very slight fading of the red sections at the spine ends. All in all an excellent, collectable, signed first edition of this the first in Pullman's extremely popular Sally Lockhart quartet.
