Lopez, Antonio. (1943 - 1987)
1985. Large-format portrait in pencil and watercolors in the hand of the leading fashion illustrator whose work appeared in such publications as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Interview and The New York Times. Titled and signed in the lower margin "June by Antonio / 1985." 11 x 14 inches. In fine condition. From the collection of June Weir-Baron (1928 - 2015), Fashion Historian and Journalist, the first woman Vice President at Fairchild Publications, a major force in her capacity as Fashion Editor and Assistant publisher of Women's Wear Daily and W, as an influential editor at Vogue, Executive Fashion Editor at Harper's Bazaar, deputy Style Editor for The New York Times Sunday Magazine and Contributing Editor at Mirabella. In his influential designs, frequently Lopez explored themes of queer desire and race in his art through cultural references to subjects such as Josephine Baker and The Wild One. Several books collecting his illustrations have been published and in his obituary, the New York Times called him a "major fashion illustrator." Working in close collaboration with Juan Eugene Ramos and Charles James, he also was an associate of Karl Lagerfeld and is credited with the discoveries of Jessica Lange, Jerry Hall and Grace Jones. As seen here, he generally signed his works as "Antonio." He died at the age of 43 from Kaposi's Sarcoma as a complication of AIDS. His work is seldom encountered on the market and this is a fine example with extraordinary provenance. [Attributes: In Dust Jacket]

Adler, Bill. [Ronald and Nancy Reagan]
Crown Publishers, Inc, New York, 1985. First edition of Adler's account of one of America's great romances, inscribed by Ronald Reagan as President and First Lady Nancy Reagan. Octavo, original half-cloth, illustrated. Presentation copy, inscribed by Ronald and signed by Nancy Reagan on the half-title page, "To Preston Long - with our appreciation and warmest friendship. Nancy & Ronald Reagan Jan. 27 1986." The recipient, Preston H. Long, was a supporter of Reagan and was appointed by Reagan as a Member of the American Battle Monuments Commission in July of the year the present volume was inscribed. Fine in a near fine dust jacket. Jacket design by James K. Davis. Jacket photograph by Harry Benson. Examples of this title signed by the Reagan's are particularly uncommon. Nancy Davis was a Hollywood actress with ten movies to her credit in 1949 when she met Ronald Reagan, a handsome veteran actor. She said of their first meeting: "I don't know if it was exactly love at first sight, but it was pretty close." From the very start of their relationship, the Reagan's were an openly affectionate couple, and upon entering the political arena, their bond grew stronger. Bill Adler's Ronnie and Nancy: A Very Special Love Story is an intimate, warm portrait of one of the most romantic American couples, telling in great detail how Ronnie and Nancy became American's most watched and most loved First Couple. Oxford Library of Charles Dickens Complete 21 volume collection! Author: Charles Dickens Illustrations by Description: -- SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION of the Franklin Library, Oxford Library of Charles Dickens. Limited to just 7,500 sets back around 1985! In addition to the stunning Oxford Library of Great Books (I also have for sale), Franklin Library and Oxford did another collaboration of an entire Charles Dickens Library. It is one of the most beautiful Dickens sets by any maker and one of my favorites. This is one of several I keep in my own library as I consider it essential for any collector of Franklin Library or Easton Press (which I also keep). The Two tone leather inlay and ornate gilt design make these a focal point of any well appointed leather library. It is certainly one of the crown jewels of Franklin Library and Easton Press collections. The illustrations are classic and include the traditional or original names you would expect. ***Please and kindly, no unsolicited offers. The set is reasonably and appropriately priced within its historical range. Condition: This is a large open set, so there will always be flaws no matter what any seller tries to tell you. This set shows some light shelf wear. Leathers are bright with light signs of wear. You will find a few bumped corners, but most are quite square. Some marr to gilt page ends with light marks here and there and a whiff of scuff to the top page ends. This Fine Leathe … [Click Below for Full Description]

KAWAKAMI, Kisa, Alvin Boyardsky, Richard George Rogers, and
London: Architectural Association, 1985. First Edition. Large square quarto in box. Contains four works on plates (consisting of nine separate pieces), and an unbound booklet with photographs of twenty-one additional pieces, alongside text by Alvin Boyardsky, Richard George Rogers, and David Dodge Gray. The works on plate utilize a variety of material, including embossed glossy paper, silk screened prints, raised paper sculptures in matte frames, and printed Perspex acrylic. Kisa Kawakami's work straddles architecture and sculpture; his often paper based models bridge the conceptual radicalism of Archigram and other 1960s architectural collectives with the private craft work of traditional Japanese paper arts. The multiples included in this box provide a rare glimpse into the work of an artist little known outside of speculative architecture cognoscenti. A few spots of toning and discoloration on some plates, overall near fine, close to fine in printed box. Though amply represented institutionally, scarce in the trade. [Attributes: First Edition]

Koster, Dora - Oiseau bleu
ca. 1985. 61 x 80 cm, Rückseitig a. Lwd. signiert.
