Lissitzky, El (eig. Eliezier, 1890-1941).
(Köln, Edition Griffelkunst 1985). Plattenmaß: 19,5 x 21,8 cm. Blattmaß: 39,8 x 29,8 cm. Originalabzug vom Glasnegativ für die Edition Griffelkunst (240C3). - Berühmte Doppel-Belichtung. - "In 1922 Lissitzky traveled from his native Russia to Germany, where he met Kurt Schwitters at a conference for progressive artists in Weimar. The two men worked collaboratively until Lissitzky returned to Russia, in 1925. While Lissitzky imparted to Schwitters an interest in the crisp geometry of Russian constructivism, the photographic portraits seen here reveal Schwitters’s influence on his Russian colleague. Made by montaging negatives during the developing process, they portray Schwitters and Jean Arp in the fragmented visual language of Dadaism, set against a background of Dada publications" (MoMA zum Doppelportrait von Schwitters und Arp aus demselben Jahr). - El Lissitzky war Mitbegründer des Konstruktivismus. - Verso mit Nachlaßstempel Jen Lissitzky und Stempel der Edition Griffelkunst. - Sehr gutes Exemplar aus der Slg. K. Friedberg, München. Sprache: deutsch.

The Institute of Further Studies. Albert Glover and John Clarke, editors
Institute of Further Studies, (Canton, New York), 1985. 28 issues. Octavos. Each issue mimeographed or offset printed from typescript and stapled in illustrated card wrappers. The postcard originally tipped into Issue 16 is detached, but present (and scarce thus). With a letter from the editor, John Clarke, discussing David Tirrell and his authorship of the 19th issue, on alchemy. Occasional toning and creasing, a touch of foxing here and there but a generally very good set with the exception of the Wieners issue, which has tidemarking to the wraps. The letter is fair only, extensive toned, watermarked and creased, but complete and entirely legible. A complete run of this periodical, one of the most unusual and brilliant undertakings of American postwar poetry. The series grew out of *The Magazine of Further Studies*, and was a specific response to Charles Olson's text "A Plan for the Curriculum of the Soul" in the fifth issue of that magazine, a remarkable map-text by Olson that listed subjects, names, and other topics and which was reproduced inside the covers of early issues. After Olson's death, John Clarke took 28 of these topics, and the periodical was born. Authors of complete issues include Albert Glover, Duncan McNaughton, John Wieners, Michael Boughn, Lisa Jarnot, Fred Wah, John Clarke, Robert Duncan, Alice Notley, Robin Blaser, Robert Dalke, George F. Butterick, Edward Kissam, Edgar Billowitz, Harvey Brown, Lewis Macadams, Ed Sanders, Michael Bylebyl, David Tirrell, Daniel Zimmerman, Drummond Hadley, James Koller, Gerrit Lansing, Michael McClure, John Thorpe, Joa … [Click Below for Full Description]

Mickey Mantle
NY: Doubleday(1985). The book chronicles Mantle's career from his youth in hardscrabble Oklahoma mining and farming country, through his meteoric rise to baseball greatness, and on past the twilight of his Yankee years to his present status as a golfer and celebrity/businessman. The heart of the book covers his years with the great Yankee teams that won twelve American League pennants and seven World Series victories, and Mantle effectively captures the energy, determination and professionalism of these teams. His brief, telling sketches capture the essential personalities of his teammates, particularly the smooth, composed Whitey Ford and the irrepressible, irascible Billy Martin, his closest friends. The dry wit, wisdom, and warmth of Casey Stengel stand behind the team's success, and the egocentric, frigid cleverness of George Weiss, the general manager, shows how even a player of Mantle's magnitude was exploited before the players' successful strike. Included is a photo of him signing the book along with the original receipt.. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: Very Good

Card, Orson Scott
(New York): TOR, 1985. First edition. Fine in nearly fine jacket.. Original quarter dark blue cloth, light blue paper boards, silver-lettered spine. In original unclipped ($13.95) dust jacket designed by Suzanne Lobel with art by John Harris. [8], 357, [1] pages. Inscribed by Card in blue ink on half title: "To Hank - / A survival guide for geniuses / Orson Scott Card / 21 Sep '95." Only lightest rubbing to jacket extremities. Inscribed first printing of the beloved science-fiction novel, winner of both the Hugo and Nebula awards, with a fantastic inscription by Card. First published as a short story in ANALOG in 1977, then expanded here into a full-length novel about child savants who use virtual reality video games to fight an alien species at devastating personal cost. Given the well-known anti-LGBT+ views of the author, the book is a great modern example of the argument that the best books transcend the intent of their creators: ENDER'S GAME is one of the most empathetic explorations of interplanetary contact in science fiction, a book fundamentally about outsiders and "otherness." It has also been instrumental to a generation of introverted kids who found comfort in a morally complex book about nerds on a mission to save the world - this copy's inscription pithily reads: "A survival guide for geniuses."

KADGIEN, Hilbert;
1984-1985. Größe ca 93x65 (teils geringfügig abweichend). Ohne Rahmen.

ameringer, oscar
Charles H Kerr, 1985. From Publisher: A rip-roaring radical romp through American history, from the man known as the Mark Twain Of American Socialism. Ameringer, socialist organizer, editor, pamphleteer and public speaker, was remarkable forerunner of what would today be called a stand-up comedian. In this, his most famous work (originally published in 1909, selling half a million copies by 1914 ), the official history of the text-books is hilariously laid bare; the authors satirical barbs aimed at the exploiters ideology bristle on every page. An outstanding classic of American labor historiography and humor. With an introduction from Paul Buhle.

Enzensberger, Hans Magnus (Hrsg.)
Greno/Eichborn/Andere Bibliothek (Aufbau), 1985. 8vo. Mit zahlr. Illustrationen. Meist OPp.-Bde. [Click Below for Full Description]

Graz, ADEVA, 1985. 400 Seiten. [Click Below for Full Description]
