The Hunt For Red October by Tom Clancy Signed Agent's CopyAuthors: Tom ClancyLocation: Annapolis, MarylandPublisher: Naval Institute PressDate: 1984Edition: First EditionFeatures: Naval Institute Press, Annapolis. [1985]. Seventh printing, SIGNED PRESENTATION COPY, from the author to the publishers' one-time dramatic rights agent, Gary Salt. Signed and inscribed on half-title page: "To Gary With gratitude and admiration for your fine (SPECTACULAR!!!) WORK on behalf of RED OCTOBER [signed] Tom Clancy." WITH A PRESENTATION PLAQUE FROM THE PUBLISHER to their film agent, a block of Lucite embedded with a replica of the book's dust jacket cover, above an embedded brass plaque engraved by the publisher with the words: "GARY SALT WITH APPRECIATION NAVAL INSTITUTE PRESS." Even though this copy is not a first edition, its importance should not be underestimated, for, as the book reached its seventh printing, it was demonstratively clear to the author and the book's publisher that Gary Salt had taken an unknown author's first book and was able to see it made into a major picture. Clancy went on to write a number of best sellers, some of which have been made into other major motion pictures. The late Gary Salt was indeed an important agent who is greatly missed by his widow, friends, and clients. Traces of wrinkling to bottom tips and corners of dust jacket, traces of shelf wear to tips and corne … [Click Below for Full Description]

A rare find in this condition. Synopsis The Butter Battle Book is a rhyming story written by Dr. Seuss. It was published by Random House Books for Young Readers on January 12, 1984. It is an anti-war story; specifically, a parable about arms races in general, mutuallyassured destruction and nuclear weapons in particular. The Butter Battle Book was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. This book was written during the Cold War era, and reflects the concerns of the time, especially the perceived possibility that all life on Earth could be destroyed in a nuclear war. It can also be seen as a satirical work, with its depiction of a deadly war based on a senseless conflict over something as trivial as a breakfast food. The concept of a war based on toast is similar to the war between Lilliput and Blefuscu in Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels, which was nominally based on the correct end to crack an egg once soft boiled. ---------- About the Author---------- Theodor Seuss Geisel (1904 - 1991) was an American writer, poet, and cartoonist. He was most widely known f … [Click Below for Full Description]

Synopsis Henry Dorsett Case is a low-level hustler in the dystopian underworld of Chiba City, Japan. Once a talented computer hacker, Case was caught stealing from his employer. As punishment for his theft, Case's central nervous system was damaged with a mycotoxin, leaving him unable to access the global computer network in cyberspace, a virtual reality dataspace called the "matrix". Case is unemployable, suicidal, and apparently at the top of the hit list of a drug lord named Wage. Case is saved by Molly Millions, an augmented "street samurai" and mercenary for a shadowy ex-military officer named Armitage, who offers to cure Case in exchange for his services as a hacker. Case jumps at the chance to regain his life as a "console cowb … [Click Below for Full Description]

1984. Condition: Very Good. Excellent condition. No marks, writing or underling. Only imperfection is slight tear around the bottom staple. Check out this gem. This listing is for a rare 1984 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Report. As has often been said, these Berkshire Hathaway annual reports, including the Chairman's Letter written by Warren Buffett, are pure solid gold loaded with investing wisdom. This copy is in excellent condition. No underlinings, marks or writing on it. The only imperfection is a slight tear around the bottom staple. You almost don't even see it. 64 total pages, which also includes the 1984 annual report letters from Charlie Munger. Makes a great addition to your Berkshire annual report collection. It probably goes without saying, but I only have this one '84 Berkshire annual report, so when it's gone, that's it. It's gone forever. Shipping is by USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation (in a box to protect it)... so you'll be holding your copy of the 1984 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Report in your hands in just 2-3 business days. P.S. One last thought. It's important. As a serious collector I know once said, "When you come across a rare item, the time to buy it is when you see it, because you may never see it again.". FULLER, Neely Jr.
np [Washington D.C.]: By the Author, 1984. "Revised Edition". Wraps. Very good +. "Revised Edition." 4to. Printed card wraps. Crease to front wrapper and first few leaves of text, else very good or better. 335pp. Highly idiosyncratic, verging on obsessional, treatise on the nature, cause, and cures for racism (which the author calls "white supremacy," reflecting his view that racism only exists as a dynamic between "White" and "non-White" persons). Among Neely's more eccentric proposals is that homosexuality among non-Whites is the result of "acute insanity" brought on by the need to "compensate for fear of the Racist Man and Racist Woman." He also advocates assassination, which he calls "Maximum-Emergency Compensatory Justice," as a justifiable reaction to overt racist acts – provided it is followed by the immediate suicide of the assassin. Fuller is said to have been a strong influence on Public Enemy, especially their groundbreaking 1990 album FEAR OF A BLACK PLANET, where this book was officially cited in advance press releases and in album credits as an "influential inspiration." WorldCat gives 14 locations for this edition, adding two more for a 1964 printing.

Arthur Miller
New York: The Limited Editions Club printed by the Wild Carrot Letterpress, 1984. Condition: ___ Book is in fine condition with the leather binding smooth and supple, the colour on the spine deep (not sunned), corners straight and unrubbed, solid hinges and a strong text block, clean and bright inside and entirely free of prior owner markings. no. 351 of 1500, quarto size, 167 pp., signed by both Arthur Miller and Leonard Baskin, with LEC Newsletter and invitation to publication party. Arthur Asher Miller (1915-2005) was seminal figure in twentieth-century American Theatre. In Miller's more than thirty plays, which won him a Pulitzer Prize and multiple Tony Awards, he put in question "death and betrayal and injustice and how we are to account for this little life of ours." For nearly six decades, Miller created characters that wrestle with power conflicts, personal and social responsibility, the repercussions of past actions, and the twin poles of guilt and hope (n.b., info from The National Endowment for the Humanities website). Leonard Baskin (1922-2000) was an artistic genius whose works almost defy categorization. Eminent in sculpting, illustration, printmaking and also as a typographer and printer, he pursued multiple art forms all of which have, as an underlying thread, social consciousness and a high regard for humanity (n.b., above information from the website of the Galerie St. Etienne). Mr. Baskin founded The Gehenna Press in 1942 while at Yale University, taking his inspiration from William Blake's example as both a poet and an artist/bookmaker.
