Unique Inscribed copy of this Limited Edition of 1500 hand-numbered copies signed by the artist, José Luis Cuevas. THIS COPY WITH ADDITIONAL INSCRIPTION AND ORIGINAL PEN AND INK DRAWING BY THE ARTIST. With etchings on tissue-guarded plates and drawings by José Luis Cuevas created specifically for this publication. Large 8vo, hand-cased at the Gray Parrot bindery in quarter gray-brown calf over textured paper-covered boards, the spine lettered in gilt within a blank embossed frame, in the original slipcase. xii, 61, [1]. Internally a pristine copy, the binding also fine but for a light touch of sun and one small abrasion to the calf of the spine, the slipcase still very nice with only minor age evidence. UNIQUE INSCRIBED COPY WITH AN ORIGINAL DRAWING BY JOSÉ LUIS CUEVAS. The famous Mexican Surrealist has inscribed this copy “La Vida de un hobre ... with a bold signature and a very large pen and ink drawing filling much of the front blank page. The book itself is a fine production, printed on mold-made paper specially produced for this edition by Cartiere Enrico Magnani.         The Temple of Flora

San Francisco, CA: The Arion Press, 1984. First Edition. Quarter Leather. Fine. Book contains twenty-eight dry-point etchings by Jim Dine and botanical notes and poetry selected by Todd Glenn and Nancy Dine. Inspired by the original "Temple of Flora" by Dr. Robert John Thornton (1765-1837) published in 1807, this edition, also printed in folio with full page plates, steps away from the color vibrancy of that edition to look at a more stark depiction of the flowers represented within. Poetry by John Ashbery, Richard G. Barnes, Hart Crane, Robert Creeley, E. E. Cummings, Hilda Doolittle, Robert Graves, Thom Gunn, Robert Hass, Andrew Hoyem, Ronald Johnson, Denise Levertov, Josephine Miles, Frank O'Hara, Ron Padgett, Robert Pinsky, Sylvia Plath, Ezra Pound, Kenneth Rexroth, James Schuyler, Edith Sitwell, Wallace Stevens, Philip Whalen, Jonathan Williams, and William Carlos Williams. Set in Monotype and Romulus type and printed on Rives BFK paper Signed in pencil on limitation page by Jim Dine, this is number 7 of 175. Fourteenth publication of the Arion Press. Elephant Folio. Green quarter-leather binding with light green cloth covered boards, titling in gold embossed on spine. Housed in a custom box of the same light green cloth, it is topped by a bas-relief sculpture of the Temple of Flora by Jim Dine, with a green leather inlaid doorway with the edition title in gold. A stunning presentation with light spotting around the outer edge, which appears to have only had an effect on the box exterior, two light rust colored spots on bottom of box near foredge. Includes separate print "Details from Nancy's Garden" in printed paper folder with tissue guard, signed and numbered by Dine. Fourteenth book of the Arion Press.

(NEWTON, HELMUT). Newton, Helmut & Philippe Garner. HELMUT NEWTON: WHITE WOMEN - SIGNED TWICE BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER. Signed by the Photographer. New York: Stonehill Publishing Company, 1984. First Edition. 4to. Cloth in Pictorial Dust Jacket. Photography Monograph. Very Good -/Near Fine. 114pp, 55 illustrations in color and b&w. Designed by Bea Feitler. Published in 1976, "White Women" was the very first survey in book form of Helmut Newton's decadence-laden images originally primarily created as editorial work for French, British and American "Vogue", "Vogue Homme", "Oui", "Playboy", and "Stern". Amongst the immediately recognizable subjects here are Charlotte Rampling, Veruschka Lehndorff, Elsa Peretti, Loulou de la Falaise, Karl Lagerfeld, Paloma Picasso, David Hockney, Annie Duperey, June Newton, and the photographer himself. A handsome copy in a price-clipped dust jacket of the hardbound American first edition BOLDLY SIGNED TWICE by Helmut Newton in black ink - first apparently mistakenly upside down and backwards on the rear endpaper (!) and then again across the title page, whose textblock shows some soiling and gentle indentations along the foredge (owing no doubt to a fair amount of viewings) along with a flattened soft crease to the rear endpaper.
