Mike Magee
Mike Magee, 1983. VG Cond. There is neat underlining in pen, and annotations, made by Walter Jantschik, throughout. Originally, the papers would have been loose A4 sheets, with some stapled at the top corner. Jantschik hole punched the collected papers, and bound them together (see photo 1). AMOOKOS Grade Papers Nath Tantric Order Mike Magee Walter Jantschik (Fraternitas Saturni/ OTOA/ OTO/ Temple of Set/ Ordo Baphometis) Provenance Sex Magick Kenneth Grant Occult RARE! AMOOKOS Grade Papers, etc. by Mike Magee VG condition This is a very rare collection of AMOOKOS grade papers, circulars and supplementary material. Includes a number of letters from Mike Magee, including one handwritten letter dated 20.9.83 and signed Lokanath M (Mike Magee). These papers are A4 sheets, some stapled, which have been hole punched and bound together, by Walter Jantschik (who was a member of AMOOKOS, but had also been a member of Fraternitas Saturni, OTOA, OTO, Temple of Set & Ordo Baphometis). Thus the provenance for this scarce collection of inner material, is very interesting, particularly due to the fact that Walter Jantschik had been a member of Fraternitas Saturni, in the 1960s, and was one of the early members of AMOOKOS. These papers have neat underlining and annotations Walter Jantschik, throughout. There are a total of 68 pages, printed on a single side of A4 sheets. The contents includes the following papers: Symbolism of the Grade of Handmaiden or Esquire 2 Amookos (29pp), supplementary 2B, Principle of nathdom (3pp), Supplement 2C (8pp), Grade Paper 2A Academy of Symbolism (4pp), … [Click Below for Full Description]

Terry Pratchett
St. Martin's Press, 1983. Condition: Like New. Very Fine. Thanks for having a look and I hope you find something you've been looking for. If you think my price is too high, please send me a counteroffer. Always willing to barter a deal we're both happy with. This listing is for a first edition of The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett. Published by St.Martin's Press in 1983. First printing stated on copyright page with complete number line. The very rare first US edition of the first of the Discworld novels. Copies of the book are available, but finding ones in superior condition is a very difficult task. Book and dust jacket are in very fine, unread condition. The only flaw I can find on it is a very tiny scuff on the dust jacket at the bottom rear spine fold. No marks anywhere on the dust jacket, no color fading at all. Price is intact, $11.95. The book is tight and never been fully opened. The covers are perfect, all corners sharp, not even any wear or scuffing to the bottom of the boards. As nice a copy as I've ever seen of this book, and exceptionally difficult in this condition. Shipping is $10.00 for Priority Mail with signature required for delivery. The least expensive shipping to Europe is $35 and the least expensive to Canada is $23. All books, even paperbacks, are shipped in new boxes, wrapped in heavy brown paper and padded with bubble-wrap or styro peanuts. All books are protected by new Brodart dust jacket protectors. Items are guaranteed as described or they may be returned. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]

Cisneros, Sandra
Houston, TX: Arte Publico Press, 1983. First Edition. Trade Paperback. Very Good. 103 pages. One of the most important and popular books in the Chicano literary canon. The first edition was published in an edition of just 500 copies (according to the publisher). Due to problems during the copyediting process, there are several textual variants among the early Arte Publico Press printings. First edition (first printing). Very good in wrappers (paperback). This book is notoriously fragile and shows wear easily. This copy has a crease on the back cover. Previous owner's name inside. It does not have the award sticker found on many copies. 1983. The Transfiguration, Christ stands on a hill in the centre with his face transformed to gold and with Moses and Elias appearing in the clouds one either side. SS Peter, James and John gaze in adoration in the foreground; with arched scalloped top, richly illuminated in gold and colours. Size 104 x 84 mm, the verso preserving 12 (out of 16?) lines of text in two sizes of gothic script, with illuminated 1- and 2-line initials and line-fillers, each with the upper edge slightly cropped, with a row of sewing(?) holes, and some pigment loss, framed and glazed A highly expressive and unusual miniatures from the renowned Burckhardt-Wildt album, showing the dominant figures of the scene in splendid detail, especially facial expressions. The figures, which often display big heads, high foreheads and snub noses, show links with the Master of Walters 222 who seems to have worked in Poitiers. As noted in Sotheby?s 1983 catalogue of the Burkhardt-Wildt collection, the subject of the illumination is extremely rare, taken from the life of Christ but illustrating the Office of the Virgin, in this case the surviving verso text of 12 lines is probably from Sext. The present cutting was one of six offered at the sale (originally Burckhardt-Wildt album ff. 34-35) whose verso texts are ?consistent with the Use of Auxerre, Châlons, and Besançon, hinting at eastern French and possibly Burgundian origin? Although the miniature is cropped this is somewhat redeemed by the fact that it has such an illustrious Swiss provenance from the late 18th century, belonging first to Peter Birmann (1758?18 … [Click Below for Full Description]

Not great condition overall MAGICIAN'S GAMBIT: bar some light foxing on paper, as always with this type of paper this copy is near perfect and HAS NO LIBRARY MARKINGS which is very rare for these books. The protected dust jacket is in perfect condition CASTLE OF WIZARDRY: Loose and sloping binding with a few bumps and with creased unprotected and poor condition dust jacket and a library stamps and some pen writing in the cover sheet. Ken Kesey
Ithaca, NY: 1983. 9 by 11-1/2 inches. Director's scrapbook for the 1983 Cornell University student production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, starring Jimmy Smits and Margaret Reed. Smits' performance as Chief Bromden was widely acclaimed and helped launch his professional career. This is a record of the production kept by the chairman of the Cornell Univesity theater arts program, Richard Shank, who directed the play. The book, bound in library buckram by Shank after the play's run finished, includes 1) two copies of the Samuel French script, one for reproduction and the other extensively annotated by Shank with notes on the staging; 2) fold-out plans for the set; 3) publicity clipping, flyers, programs, and other ephemera from the production; 4) five still photographs taken during a performance of the play; 5) Shank's extensive clipping file of reviews of earlier productions, often with notes about how to respond to criticisms of the play; 6) call sheets and other communications with the actors. In all, a remarkable, one-of-a-kind record of a notable production of this play based on Kesey's classic novel. Two of the actors, Smits as well as Margaret Reed (Nurse Ratched), went on to have notable careers as television and film actors. Smits was one of the first Mexican American actors to earn national acclaim. Fine or nearly so. One call sheet is signed by both Reed and Smits (and all the other actors). [JSP02; JHG2019].

Roald Dahl
Condition: Like New. New York: Farrar, Straus & Giroux. 1983. First American edition, limited edition signed by the author and illustrator. Publisher's original blue cloth with metallic red illustration to the upper board and titles to the spine, in the yellow card slipcase, as issued. Illustrated by Quentin Blake throughout. A lovely fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and dusty slipcase which remains firm and sound. Limited to only 300 copies, this being hand numbered 257 and signed by Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake to the limitation page. The Witches was the second of only two Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake signed limited editions produced in the US for which there was no UK equivalent. I bought this book in the mid 1980's and it has not been read since I bought it. It looks like it has never been read. Crisp and clean. Condition says Like New but read--it looks as if it was NEVER READ.

Oliver, Mary
Little, Brown and Company, Boston, 1983. First edition of the poet's Pulitzer Prize-winning collection. Octavo, original green cloth. Signed by Mary Oliver on the title page. Fine in a near fine dust jacket with light rubbing. Jacket photograph by Lisa Paquette. Author photograph by Molly Malone Cook. The hardcover edition is scarce, as it was issued simultaneously in paperback. Mary Oliver was described by The New York Times as "far and away, [America's] best-selling poet." She has won both the Pulitzer Prize in 1984 and the National Book Award in 1992. Oliver's poetry has been called an "indefatigable guide to the natural world, particularly to its lesser-known aspects" (Kumin, 1993). "Visionary as Emerson [ she is] among the few American poets who can describe and transmit ecstasy, while retaining a practical awareness of the world as one of predators and prey," reviewed The Nation. Holly Prado of Los Angeles Times Book Review noted that Oliver's work "touches a vitality in the familiar that invests it with a fresh intensity."
