        REAL PEACE

New York: ((1983)). First Edition, Privately published edition limited to 1000 copies, preceding the trade edition published by Little, Brown and usually seen signed by Nixon on the front endpaper. This edition was intended for a select group of government officials and opinion leaders in the United States and abroad. We have handled several copies of this title, one or two of which also included a brief letter from Nixon to a noted individual. This is one of the few copies we have seen that has been INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author rather than simply signed: "To Joe Fromm/with warm regards/from/Richard Nixon.", Hardcover, Fine in a Very Good dustwrapper with a small tear at the bottom front and a few rather faint scratches

The Complete EC Library: Crime Suspenstories (5 Volume Boxed Set)

Russ Cochran, 1983. Hard Cover. VF - Very Fine. Various. 5 Volume slipcased set. Published originally by William M. Gaines. Whilst not a horror Comic, two issues of Entertaining Comic's (EC) Crime SuspenStories were the subject of US Senate Committees investigations; the crow-bar murder Issue (#23) & its predecessor, the notorious severed head cover. As the investigating Senator Estes Kefauver said at the time “You have blood coming out of her mouth.” After publisher William M. Gaines's coy admission, Kefauver continued "There is blood on the axe. I think most adults are shocked by that." With Russ Cochran's Complete Crime SuspenStories you can enjoy all twenty-seven of these graphic masterpieces, illustrated by Johnny Craig, Jack Kamen, Jack Davis, Reed Crandall & several other top-flight illustrators from the EC stable. Issue #17 witnessed one of the finest adaptations of a Ray Bradbury short story, with Craig's darkly humorous rendition of Touch & Go! The Haunt Of Fear's decrepit Old Witch would inject some macabre horror in the mix, courtesy Graham “Ghastly Ingels (#3-16). There are several late stories by one of the masters of visual story telling, Berni Krigstein. Whilst Al Williamson's artistry was demonstrated in two stories, the second assisted by Frank Frazetta (Fired! #17). There are also the stark, yet oddly beautiful covers of Johnny Craig, which will linger and play on the mind. Each book is smyth sewn and deluxe bound to last a lifetime of re-reading. Very Fine condition with only minor shelf-wear to slipcase. Black & White illustrations. 10" x 13" (25cm x 33cm). Slipcase.

[SEVEN ORIGINAL, ANNOTATED TYPESCRIPTS OF WORKS BY NOVELIST AND HISTORIAN DEE BROWN]

[N.p., 1983. Seven volumes. Quarto. Modern red and blue morocco, gilt tooled and lettered. Binder's tickets on front endpapers. Copious annotations throughout. Occasional tape repairs and paper loss not affecting text. Fine. Seven bound typescripts, comprising draft copies of fiction and non-fiction works by Dee Brown. Southwestern historian "Dee" Brown is best known for his trailblazing perennial bestseller BURY MY HEART AT WOUNDED KNEE, but wrote many other novels and histories about the American West, often about the Native American experience. This collection consists of late drafts of four works of non- fiction and three of fiction, bound by the author for his personal library. The titles included here are as follows: 1) GRIERSON'S RAID (1954). 2) THE GENTLE TAMERS (1958). 3) ACTION AT BEECHER ISLAND (1967). 4) BURY MY HEART AT WOUNDED KNEE (1970). 5) HEAR THAT LONESOME WHISTLE BLOW: RAILROADS IN THE WEST (1977). 6) CREEK MARY'S BLOOD (1980). 7) KILLDEER MOUNTAIN (1983). Each typescript is annotated for content, style, and formatting in various hands, including Brown's, and the draft of Grierson's Raid includes an annotated gelatin silver print bound in depicting a "Map Showing Course of Grierson's Raid." A fascinating and singular collection of works that document the publication process for a significant portion of the oeuvre of a now classic Western author.

        Elvis At Graceland

Memphis, TN: Cypress Press, 1983. First edition. Paperback. Very good in wraps; a touch of wear to lower front panel at the gutter, another area of wear to the lower front at the fore edge; some light, general edgewear, rubbing. This copy signed by Eggleston on the title page. While showing the effects of age and handling, still a solid, attractive copy of what is generally conceded to be one of the most uncommon of all of Eggleston's commercial publications. The irony of Eggleston photographing Graceland's interiors is so overt that it ceases to be irony at all. One of Eggleston's most affecting books.

Art/Life : communication for the creative mind ; the original limited edition monthly [Lot of 31 Issues]

Santa Barbara, California: Joe Cardella, 1983. 1983 to 1987. Mixed. VG, clean copies with no tears and all contents secure.. Each volume: Clear, acetate covers with black plastic grip slide at spine. Title information printed on front cover in black. Nearly all contents printed on recto side only. Unpaginated with approximately 35 to 40 pages in each issue. Contents includes various kinds of paper, fabric, stamps, buttons, beads, ribbons, postage stamps, photographs, drinking straw, etc.; heavy at 30 pounds and will require extra postage. ART/LIFE began in 1981 as a "conceptual exchange" between a global community of artists [and poets]. Unique in its approach, ART/LIFE sources each page directly from the artist with little restriction on subject or medium. Submitted content represents a variety of international contributors and ranges from silkscreened, stamped and photocopied prints to original drawings and collages, pressed foliage, photographs, a Sweet-n-Low packet, and things much stranger. Creator and publisher Joe Cardella curated, assembled and distributed limited editions of 100 to 200 copies every month for 25 years. The result is a varied visual transcript of the dialogue between artists in the 1980s and 1990s." - elmo academy art.edu. Each issue is comprised entirely of original poetry and fine art, hand signed by each contributing artist. Cardella himself contributed several pieces for each issue. Some are numbered, although the numbers do not necessarily correspond to the number of the issue as a whole, written on each title page. Each volume a unique, quirky work of art in its own right. The issues in this lot are as follows: Volume 3: Nos. 4, 5, 7, 8, 9; Volume 5: Nos. 2 through 10; Volume 6: Nos. 5, 7, 10; Volume 7 (Complete): Nos. 1 through 11; Volume 8: Nos. 1 through 3.
