Sahagun's HSTORIA GENERAL... is one of the cornerstone works of research pertaining to the early history of the western hemisphere, and has been described as "beyond question the most important, as it is the most authentic history of events, transpiring in the New World, before its discovery by history was ever conceived, or brought forth with more labor" - Thomas W. Field. Sahagun devoted over thirty-five years to its compilation, and this edition is based directly upon his definitive text, referred to generally as the Florentine Codex. Condition: Very Good. Here is an original artifact from the disaster that took place on Jan 13th 1982. Air Florida flight 90 crashed into the 14 th street bridge on the Virginia side of the Potomac River. We went to the crash site that evening as it was only minutes from our house. This vest was laying on the edge of the frozen river so I picked it up .I asked the park ranger if I could keep it and he just nodded his head at me .was only a kid at the time . This has been in my closet since that fateful day.

[Cheloniidae Press] Robinson, Alan James; Laurie Block
Easthampton, MA: Cheloniidae Press, 1982. Hardcover. UNIQUE COPY WITH A SET OF THE 26 ORIGINAL PENCIL DRAWINGS BY ALAN JAMES ROBINSON. There were 300 copies of this book published; 200 were regular copies, 50 were deluxe copies with quarter leather binding and 50 others bound in full leather. The deluxe editions were issued with a set of proofs of the wood engravings and a set of proofs of the line-cut initials, with a large calligraphic manuscript initial beneath each image. The wood engraving proofs are lettered and signed by Robinson, and the line-cut proofs are signed both by Robinson and the calligrapher, Elizabeth Curtis. This copy shows some variation from the copies described in the prospectus. The colophon has been signed and numbered VI of L and internally seems to be a straightforward copy of the deluxe full leather edition. The binding varies somewhat from that pictured in the prospectus but uses many of the same elements. Also, the chemise is thicker that the regular chemise because it contains the 26 pencil drawings. This may have been a special copy prepared by Robinson for a particular subscriber/collector. This wonderful abecedary illustrates each letter of the alphabet with a masterful wood engraving by Robinson. Each animal is described at the bottom of its page in texts chosen primarily from the earliest first-hand accounts of the animal depicted. The descriptions are printed in red. The printed source of each text is identified, and at the end of the book there is a detailed and useful bibliography of these sources. A page with a small, different illust … [Click Below for Full Description]

Moreno, Nahuel
1982. Unpaginated (approx. 123 pp.) typescript document comprising Moreno's theoretical essay on the OCI [Organización Comunista Internacionalista (unificada)] and Pierre Lambert and the French Trotskyists, first published publicly in Panorama Internacional, Año VI, No. 19, January 1982, divided into eleven chapters with titles such as "La teorìa de los campos burgueses progresivos", "El revisionismo en los partidos revolucionarios", "El frente único antiimperialista como expresión de la teorìa de los campos burgueses progresivos", and "La politica frente a los partidos obreros contrarrevolucionarios". Not illustrated. Some yellowing, toning. Large 4to. Stapled self-wrpps., some minor soiling and foxing, small spots of possible mildew staining to front cover. N.p. (Buenos Aires?) n.d. (circa 1981). Nahuel Moreno (Hugo Miguel Bressano Capacete) was a Trotskyist leader from Argentina, active in the movement from 1942 until his death in 1987. He published a journal called Palabra Obrera, and organized a group whose goal was to act as the left wing of the Peronist movement. In the 1970's, when divisions arose inside the Fourth International socialist organization over guerrilla warfare, Moreno led the pro-SWP (Socialist Workers Party) faction and established a public faction, the PRT-La Verdad (Partido Revolucionario de los Trabajadores), to fight for union rights. He also helped establish the Leninist Trotskyist Faction, the Bolshevik Faction, the International Worker's League, the Argentine Movement for Socialism, and the United Soci … [Click Below for Full Description]

A book and/or dust jacket listed in this condition should be almost "like new" with only very minor signs of use, wear and/or rubbing. Any flaws are usually described in the book's listing. A fine copy, particularly if it is of a rare book or rare in that condition, will usually carry a substantial premium in price. Near Fine A book and/or dust jacket in near fine condition cannot be classified as fine because it has a greater accumulation of minor flaws and signs of use than a fine copy. It's flaws are usually described in the book's listing. A near fine copy is still an extremely presentable and collectible copy, just not as close to "like new" as a fine copy. Very Good A book and/or dust jacket in very good condition will still be very presentable and in generally sound condition, but it will have visible flaws, including minor fading or staining to covers, rubbing of the extremities, chipping at the spine ends, fraying of cloth, and/or soiling and foxing. A plus (+) or minus (-) sign may be added to a very good designation in order to account for the wide range of condition this classification presides over. Good A book in good condition will show considerably more wear than grades which precede it and is usually not preferred by collecto … [Click Below for Full Description]

Charles Bukowski
Santa Barbara: 1982. the label on the cover has staining from the glue, otherwise this is a clean very good copy. According to the Bukowski bibliography by Aaron Krumhansl (page 87) an unknown number of copies of this Advance Review produced. The only copy I found presently for sale is signed by Bukowski and priced at $1,500. This is a major Bukowski novel and probably only second to is novel Post Office. It has been translated all around the world. Black Sparrow Press knew it would be an important book so the number of signed/limited copies (all flavors) comes to 499 books. However, this, the advance softbound, not called for to be signed is perhaps both the earliest edition and the tightest limitation of those that have been signed. I personally doubt he signed even 25 of these. So it is very rare. Of course I see you sitting on the fence. You have a nice hardback signed copy of Ham on Rye. But this is very early, very exclusive and a major book. There is the breaking free of the tyranny of his father but there is also the resistance to a factory style system of schooling where they pop the top of your head and work for years on making you a passive conformist, a robot ready to slave away at a lousy job until near croaking time. He breaks free from that and jobs that don't merely want to hire you they want to won you, pounding nonsense and petty absurdity into you for a low wage. I do hope they will get around to making a movie of this. Here's a title: Escape from the Tyrants. Anyway this advance was sent out before the first editions. 283 pages. DAHL, Roald (1916-1990), [BLAKE, Quentin, illustrator].
London: Jonathan Cape, 1982. [Children's classic] FIRST EDITION. Octavo (24 x 13cm), pp.224. With frequent in-text illustrations by Quentin Blake. Publisher's grey cloth with gilt titles to spine. Pictorial dust-jacket, illustrated by Blake in colour and priced at £6.50 net. Some expected tanning to edges of text block, which was bound a couple of mm. lower within the case from outset (not dropped, as such). Light handling and bumping. A near fine, affordable copy of arguably the author's masterpiece. The story of Sophie's adventures with the Big Friendly Giant, bursting with strange and quite dubious-sounding victuals such as fizzy Frobscottle and the revolting Snozzcumber. Basis for the 1989 animation starring Sir David Jason, and more recently the 2016 live-action film by Steven Spielberg.

Dahl, Roald
Knopf. Roald Dahl (1982) ‘George’s Marvelous Medicine’, US first edition, first printing, published by Knopf. Signed by Dahl on the front free endpaper (ffep) without further inscriptions. Condition: very good in like dust jacket. The book is internally clean. There is a small previous bookseller’s sticker at the bottom of the front paste down; slight ghosting to the endpapers (where the dust jacket touches the papers allowing for air circulation; this is quite common). The boards have slight shelf wear and there is a whiff of foxing to the top page block. The dust jacket is very good with a little creasing, rubbing and tiny chipping at the folds. An exceptionally scarce book as a signed first edition. First and Fine [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]

Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Felix, Komponist (1809-1847).

Fludd, Robert; Adam McLean; Patricia Tahil.
Glasgow: Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks, 1982. First edition. This is the first ever translation into English of a substantial section of Robert Fludd's classic work Utriusque Cosmi Historia. Patricia Tahil has here translated the whole of the first two Books of the work which deal with the origin and structure of the Macrocosm. Fludd shows himself attached to the classical Ptolomaic picture of an Earth-centred Cosmos and he sums up in this work the spiritual perspective of the ancient tradition (to which he was passionately dedicated) on, the Macrocosm. Thus in his first book he deals with the nature of the Primal Substance, the inner nature of the Original Darkness, the Ancient Chaos, and the Universal Essence from which the entire Creation was shaped. His second book deals in turn with the threefold structure of the Macrocosm - the Empyrean World, the World of the Ethers, and the Earthly World. This volume provides us with a clear picture of the Cosmos seen as a spiritual being as it was grasped in the Western tradition in the early 17th century, just a few decades before seeds of a purely materialistic mechanical view of the Cosmos were sown into Western consciousness, which in time would emerge as the 'Scientific' revolution in thought of the 18th and 19th centuries. Very good condition. Item #21915 Introduction by Adam McLean; No. 13 in series; Limited to 250 numbered copies signed by Adam McLean; Bound in leatherette; 81 pages.
