Salman Rushdie
Knopf, 1980. stained wraps, yet book still relatively sharp and tight; clean interior. Quite rare pre-publication uncorrected proof copy of the first American edition of Salman Rushdie's Man Booker Prize-winning (indeed, "Booker of Bookers") "Midnight's Children", published by Knopf in 1981 (though this proof lists the copyright as 1980). This is a nice association copy, in that it was distinguished essayist and critic Luc Sante's copy, and includes his ownership signature to the half-title page and ex-libris stamp to the title page. I've listed the book's overall condition as only good primarily due to the staining and soiling of the external card covers and page edges. That aside, the condition would be closer to very good: the edges and corners are still quite sharp and the binding is relatively tight. The covers have a small tear at the bottom front of the spine and a small cryptic note on the back panel. Internally, aside from the previous ownership marks mentioned, there is what appears to be a phone number written in pen at the bottom of the last blank page. Otherwise, the internal text pages and insides of the wrap covers are clean and free of marks. Laid in at the front is a cut out piece of paper containing what was likely intended to be some portion of the jacket copy. I believe this was at one time--if not originally--stapled to the inside cover. A nice copy of an edition hardly ever seen on the market, all the more unique for its ownership history. Please review all the images, and don't hesitate to send questions. [Attributes: First Edition]

Roald Dahl
1980. Condition: Very Good. a signed copy of My Uncle Oswald, Dahl, Roald, first American Edition, Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1980, pp. 245. Signed - "Paul, A reflection of happy memories in West Byfleet. Great Neighbors! we are!! love Roald aka Clive and Jackie xxx, very good but former library, Stamped by Kimball Public Library on bottom page foredge, and stamped inside on first free endpaper, with remnants of glue from removal of library card area. A very slight cock and remnants of scotch tape on hardboard edges, green hardboards with white linen covered spine with gilt on spine, dustcover has original price on inside fold marked over, very light wear, bright, deckle edge, , small light stain on edge of p. 232, and 3 black markthroughs on back endpaper. This book obviously has an interesting history:i my daughter and I surmise that Roald and his wife (who was also famous) lived in West Byfleet and introduced themselves to their neighbors as Clive and Jackie to avoid issues. Later we suppose, they became friends with these neighbors and revealed their identities and presented the book to them (mind you this is speculation on our part). This book is Dahl's first book for adults, one that the author referred to as his "longest and dirtiest book". [Attributes: Hard Cover]

Dylan, Bob
New York: M. Whitmark & Sons. First edition of this music collection of the songs of Bob Dylan. Quarto, original illustrated wrappers as issued, frontispiece portrait of Dylan after a drawing by Cambert, illustrated. Signed by Bob Dylan on the front free endpaper. Introduction by New York Times folk music critic Robert Shelton. Photographs by Chuck Stewart. In very good condition. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box. Dylan's lyrics have incorporated various political, social, philosophical, and literary influences. They defied existing pop music conventions and appealed to the burgeoning counterculture. Initially inspired by the performances of Little Richard, and the songwriting of Woody Guthrie, Robert Johnson, and Hank Williams, Dylan has amplified and personalized musical genres. His recording career, spanning 50 years, has explored the traditions in American song--from folk, blues, and country to gospel, rock and roll, and rockabilly to English, Scottish, and Irish folk music, embracing even jazz and the Great American Songbook. Dylan performs with guitar, keyboards, and harmonica. Backed by a changing line-up of musicians, he has toured steadily since the late 1980s on what has been dubbed the Never Ending Tour. His accomplishments as a recording artist and performer have been central to his career, but songwriting is considered his greatest contribution. Dylan has sold more than 100 million records, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. He has also received numerous awards including eleven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Acade … [Click Below for Full Description]

Fighting Fantasy ***COMPLETE 1-59 BLACK DRAGON COLLECTION!!*** published by Puffin and written by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone back in the 1980s and 1990s. This is not only a very rare and valuable collection, it is also utterly unique thanks for the inclusion of FF27 Star Strider which was never originally published in this format. I have taken the 6th printing of the book (originally a 2nd Gold Foil Unnumbered edition) and applied a 'Fan Art' cover over the top using sticky glossy photo paper to correct the mistake Puffin originally made in the early 1990s when they re-published all the Fighting Fantasy series in this format. As such this book is included FREE within the collection and the advertised price is only for books 1-26 ; 28-59 and the 'Fighting Fantasy' Roleplay book. George Harrison
Genesis Publications Limited. I, Me, Mine was published in 1980 by Genesis Publications, a few months before John Lennon's murder, as a hand-bound, limited edition book, with a mixture of printed text, over fifty archival photos, and multi-colour facsimiles of Harrison's handwritten song lyrics. It was limited to 2000 signed copies initially sold at £250 each, with a foreword and narration by Derek Taylor. The limited edition sold out immediately after publication and has been an ever appreciating collectors item. The publishers are right to say that this is "the closest we will come to George Harrison's autobiography". Any fan of the Beatles will be drawn to it. The quiet one, people used to call him. But Derek Taylor describes him as "a very talkative man, with as much interest in expressing himself as anyone else and maybe more than most". This is borne out by the book itself. This copy is far rarer than the signed limited edition of 2000 copies, being one of only a handful of unsigned review copies. Due to costs involved in production only a very small number of the books were produced and sent for review. Following the half-title page is a page that states: 'This is a review copy and is therefore not part of the signed, limited edition of 2000 copies signed by George Harrison' (see photo). With the exclusion of Harrison's signature and the inclusion of this page stating it is for review, the copy is the same in all other respects as the limited edition. Publisher's original black half calf, with five raised bands and gilt title and decorations to the spine, a gilt guit … [Click Below for Full Description]

Dylan, Bob
M. Whitmark & Sons, New York, 1980. He has also received numerous awards including eleven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an … [Click Below for Full Description]

Near fine in a near fine dust jacket with light rubbing. Translated from the Czech by Michael Henry Heim. Jacket design by Fred Marcellino. Uncommon signed and inscribed.
