         Dressed to Kill (Original screenplay)

Filmways Pictures, Los Angeles 1979 - Draft script for the 1980 film. Title page present, with a credit for screenwriter De Palma and a date of 1979. Based on other drafts we have seen, this one would precede October 1979 (and the commencement of production).A defining De Palma film, suspenseful in the vein of Alfred Hitchcock and intense sexuality. The film begins with a very famous update on the "Hitchcock shower scene," with Angie Dickinson very plausibly filling Janet Leigh's role. The sixth of nine highly distinctive films De Palma made between 1973 and 1984. Black wrappers, with a white title label. 99 leaves, mechanically reproduced.          THE KENYON REVIEW, special issues for a patron

(Kenyon College) 1979-1982, (Gambier, OH) - The first sixteen issues of the New Series of this important American literary magazine. These are special issues with loose signatures laid into the covers. According to a letter from the editors dated 1990, included here, these issues were specially done for a patron who donated $100 per issue in exchange for autographed copies. A later note from an editorial assistant at the time states that the donor actually contributed much more than the stated amount per issue, more like $8000, and that only four years of signed copies were done, thus making this complete and the only known set. Nearly every contribution is SIGNED by the author, a total of more than 200 signatures, including duplicates, and including several winners of the Nobel Prize. Some of the better known authors: Samuel Beckett, Alexander Solzhenitsyn (3), Italo Calvino, Joseph Brodsky (2), Czeslaw Milosz, Harold Pinter, Derek Walcott, Claude Levi-Strauss, Woody Allen (2), James Merrill (2), George Crumb, Amy Clampitt (4), Ursula Le Guin (3), William Gass, Robert Hass, James Dickey (2), Sharon Olds, Rita Dove, W. D. Snodgrass, Joyce Carol Oates (3), Robert Bly, E. L. Doctorow, Barry Hannah, Michael Harper, David Ignatow, Mary Jo Salter, Christopher Logue, Anthony Hecht (2), Guy Davenport (2), Robert Pinsky, Harold Bloom, Tom Disch, Patricia Hampl, John Hollander, Alfred Corn, Brad Leithauser (2), etc. Two issues are missing a leaf with writings by Gunter Grass in one and Derek Walcott in the other. We suspect that these were never returned by the authors. Near Fine and quite exceptional, likely unique [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Soft Cover]

Illustration for BOOK OF THE RROPHET ISAIAH.

N.P. n.p. n.d., but 1979. framed painting (24 by 21 inches). Painting by Gross designed for Book of the Prophet Isaiah (New York: Limited Editions Club, 1979) but not included in that work Gross (1904-1991) was born to a Jewish family in Wolowa, Austrian Galicia. World War I disrupted the family's life. After the war, Gross and his brother went to Budapest, where he attended an art academy, but fled the anti-Semitic Horthy regime. He studied for a short time in Vienna, before emigrating to New York in 1921, where he studied at the Beaus-Arts Institute of Design. Gross is best known as a sculptor, and he created works for schools, public colleges, government buildings, and pavilions at the World's Fair of 1939 in New York. A number of works have been published about him (Renee and Chaim Gross Foundation website, Smithsonian Institution website).

Marvel Comics Group 1979 - This listing is for an almost complete run of THE UNCANNY X-MEN Dating back to 1979 almost all books are in near mint condition. Read once one copy looks like a cup of coffee was set upon it. One has a tiny chip missing from the top of the spine but its small. I have been a fan of the X-Men for years and years. Almost all of them are put in a clear stiff mylar dustjacket made for comics. I think the asking price is very fair since these are so very old. Some of the oldest comics are showing a bit of yellowing around the page edges. [Attributes: First Edition; Soft Cover]

         Four Early Poster Works

[New York]: The Artist, 1979. Four sheets, each 8 1/2 x 11", collage, marker, and offset printing. Each signed by the artist at verso. Four very early works by Rothenberg, dating from the late 1970's and the 1980's - years in which she was an important part of the downtown arts scene associated with COLAB and the Guerrilla Girls. These works critique the political scene at the dawn of the 1980's as well as the role of the human in an increasingly automated and computerized world. "Computer Designs the Coziest Possible Room" is assigned the date of 1979 on the artists' website, and is entirely offset printed. The other three examples, including Launch/Lunch, a version of which was exhibited in 1982 at Ronald Feldman Fine Arts, all have paper collage elements, and are possibly maquettes; the latter is visually different from the example pictured on the artists' website. Small pinholes at tips from being posted, not affecting images; small area of dampstaining to one poster; collage element loose from one poster, but still present; very good.
