American Ballet [Alexander Godunov, Martine Von Hamel, Anthony Dowell, Natalia Makarova, Fernando Bujones, and Cynthia Gregory]

Lithograph, 16 1/4 x 21 inches. Signed by Hirschfeld and numbered 6/250 in pencil, lower margin. 1980. Framed. "I had a lot more fun than usual doing this one. As I look at the visual motif now, the dancers look like treble clefs almost, or like musical instruments in the way they blend together. The sweeping line works beautifully in this drawing. Ballet, of course, has a lot of that boundless energy, that flying around the stage, that I like so much. In fact the ground is only hinted at here with that one thin bending line - or maybe its a horizon line, and who knows how high up in the air they might be cavorting about."

Thouigh she lives in England and Spain, her paintings are exhibited in galleries and museums all over the world." Of Princess Grace, Fleur wrote, "I had known her very well for almost forty years since Cary Grant brought her to dinner in New York. I can describe her in a few words: she was good, not bad. She was happy about her life, not sad. She loved all her children and they loved her. So did Prince Rainier, and everyone who really knew her (including the population of Monaco"

Octavo, original half black cloth, original dust jacket. $1500.First edition of Warhol's 1980 memoir, with 16 pages of photographic images featuring Warhol and his famous friends, inscribed: ""To Yvonne love Andy Warhol,"" with a symbol scrawled below, and additionally signed on the front panel of the dust jacket.Warhol wrote this memoir with his frequent collaborator and long-time friend, Pat Hackett. Together, the pair wanted to depict the height of the Pop movement—1960 to 1969—by focusing on Warhol's art and film work. Based largely on the audiotapes that Warhol recorded during the time in question, the work features many anecdotes about celebrities and people who frequented the Factory, Warhol's New York studio. ""A vivid re-creation of a great time to live and a great time to die"" (Martin Scorsese). The ""Yvonne"" to whom this copy is inscribed may be Yvonne Rainer, the American dancer, choreographer, and filmmaker, known for her experiments in minimalism. She was one of Warhol's close friends and inspired his famous 1963 film, ""Sleep."" Small bookseller sticker to front flap of dust jacket.Book very nearly fine, with a bit of offsetting from inscription to adjacent pages. Dust jacket about-fine, with only mild toning to spine. A lovely inscribed and twice signed copy.
