1978. A 'portfolio of mixed media montages produced and published by Jon Savage, Linder Sterling, Edward Bell, Ian Pollock, and George Snow.' Printed December 1978. 20 black and white A3 sized prints housed in a printed portfolio, There is something wonderfully hand made about this portfolio. There is no information on publisher just the address of, George Snow. Snow has stamped his name on the portfolio and on the reverse of his prints, the other four haven't. Snow and Linder later created legendary Secret Police. The portfolio has some shelf wear and creasing. The 20 prints though are in perfect condition. A true punk treasure. [Attributes: First Edition]

SPACKMAN, W.M.
Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1978. First edition. Fine in a slightly spine-toned, near fine dustwrapper. Inscribed by the author to Stanley and Laura Kauffmann: "To Laura & Stanley with love, quarter-century or no quarter-century. Spack." Laid in is the business card from Knopf editor Judith Bailey Jones, with a note to the Kauffmanns: "Here is the Spackman all delectably packaged. love, J." presumably referring to the wraparound jacket design of a recumbent woman. Arguably both the most accomplished and best known novel by this underrated but worthy author whose novels of realistic adult romances were highly praised by John Updike, Edmund Wilson, Alice Adams, James Wolcott, and others. Kauffmann was a distinguished author, editor, and critic, who worked at Ballantine Books, where in 1953 he acquired both *Fahrenheit 451* by Ray Bradbury, and Spackman's first novel, *Heyday.* He also worked at Knopf where he acquired *The Moviegoer* by Walker Percy. A very nice association. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]

Philadelphia, 1978. Quartos. Measuring 9.5" x 12". Three albums. Each is floral-printed cloth over paper boards with "Photo Album" stamped in gilt on the front covers. A collection of three spiral bound albums housing approximating 260 black and white and color photographs of an African-American family between the early 1960s to late 1970s along with some family ephemera. The album centers around the extended family of a Deacon of a Philadelphia church, complete with newspaper clippings, photos of family vacations, and school photos of children. One album, almost entirely comprised of black and white pictures from the 1960s, shows the family going on beach vacations complete with handstands; trips to what appears to be the seal habitat at the zoo, possibly the Philadelphia Zoo; and various people posing on Philadelphia stoops with the usual 60s fashion accessories, cool shades, and beehives. One selection of photos show an evening in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Philadelphia Tuskegee Institute Alumni Club, where E. Finch Morris, presumably related to the family, was awarded for her service to the University. The 1970s photos show a prom and recommendations for a fellowship to the University of Pennsylvania stating, "he is as intensely committed to the life of the mind, to an academic career, to sociology, and to the betterment of the human condition as anyone I have ever known." The family also had connections with the Action Library of Philadelphia, newsletters for the institution are laid in, as well as the Student Learning Center of South Philadelphia. Cherry Hill, New Jersey, 1978. Oblong quarto measuring 12 "x 10.5". Green leather boards with gilt decorations. Contains 70 color photographs measuring between 2" x 2" and 10" x 8". Bumped corners with small tears on the spine, near fine with fine photographs. A young woman's equestrian photo album of her time at the Garden State Park Racetrack in Cherry Hill, New Jersey during the late 1970s. There are color photographs of the woman and her friends riding horses and training with them. The album is mostly full of smiles and young people laughing together. Both the fashion and hair styles of the time can be seen on the young people wearing very chic patterned clothes with bell bottom jeans. Some of the pictures show the young woman casually riding her horse or vaulting in her horse riding gear. There are also several pictures of the woman snuggling with a small kitten and hugging her friends. Some pictures included also show other horses and their riders. There are several pages full of newspaper clippings from the fire at the Garden State Park Racetrack in 1977. The track itself burned down with only three deaths from the 11,000 people at the racetrack that day. The picture continue showing the young woman and her friends still going out with their horses as the track slowly started to rebuild. An interesting photo album of a young woman's life during her horse racing days in the late 1970s. [Attributes: Hard Cover]

New York, Doubleday, 1978. First Edition. First Impression. Hardback. A near fine copy. In our opinion, King's Magnum Opus. A post-apocalyptic tale of good and evil. Rumoured to be returning in a (second) TV adaptation. Spine tips a touch bumped, one short, closed tear to lower spine, a couple shorter to the top. Rear flap reinforced with tape, but not too bad. Short closed tear to top of rear flap. Nothing else of note, just a little handling wear. Cover art by John Cayea [7336, Hyraxia Books].All items will be packed in bubble-wrap and either a cardboard book-wrap or a box where appropriate. Items over £200 will be shipped fully tracked, insured and will require a signature. If you'd like this service on cheaper items please utilise the expedited shipping. All photos are of the actual item for sale. Further photos can be provided. Returns accepted; buyer pays for return unless we're at fault. [Hyraxia Books, 7336].

HUGHES, Ted; BASKIN, Leonard
The Rainbow Press, 1978. First edition, extra-limited issue being one of twenty six copies lettered A-Z, this lettered "M" and bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe in full burnt orange morocco. Lettered in gilt to the spine, four raised bands, with gilt vignette to the upper panel by Leonard Baskin. Decorated Japanese endpapers and extra binder's leaves, as issued. Inscribed by Ted Hughes on the limitation page for his sister, "for Olwyn, Ted Hughes". Housed in its original, fleece-lined cloth slipcase. A fine copy. A black and white print, and design for The Rainbow Press, both by Leonard Baskin. A fine association copy from Ted Hughes to his sister Olwyn of the first edition of Moortown Elegies, the poems composed from Hughes's farming journal that were later issued by Faber as Moortown. Ted and Olwyn founded The Rainbow Press together in 1971 and it was the chief vessel for collecting Hughes's poems in the 1970s. They co-devised typesetting, style of binding and paper type, were supplied with Japanese endpapers by Hughes and Plath's Japanese translator, and contracted out the execution of the books to choice printers and binders. Hughes had a very close relationship with Olwyn in both his private and his literary life. Jonathan Bate, Hughes's biographer, refers to her as "his sister, agent, gatekeeper and confidante". They were bought closer together by their brother Gerald's departure for North Africa when he served the RAF during the war. One of his earliest unpublished poems comes from this time and is titled 'For Olwyn Each Evening' (Emory 980/2). After the death of Sylv … [Click Below for Full Description]

n.d. [c1978]. Manuscript. Unbound. Near fine. The author's working typescript. Top copy. Signed by the author to first leaf. 198pp, typed recto only. Numerous revisions in pen and strike-throughs (strikes-through?). Evidently a fairly early draft, showing many interesting alterations. Much like his most famous work Psycho, But the Serpent was Coming is a horror novel lacking the supernatural elements most commonly associated with Bloch's work. The book was published first as There's a Serpent in Eden, and then The Cunning.
