Stephen King (1978) 'Night Shift', US first edition, first printing, published by Doubleday. Signed and inscribed by King on the ffep: "For Ron - Best [signature] 6/9/80". All first issue points present: 'First edition' on the copyright page as well as the correct gutter code S52 on page 336. Dust jacket priced at $8.95. Condition: Fine and practically mint. An unread copy, all is tight and square, no previous owner's scribbles. Page block white like snow, no foxing anywhere, no lean, no rubbing, no bumping. The Dust jacket is fine as well remarkably well preserved with no issues to speak of. No chipping, no tears. One of the best condition copies to come on the market. Overall 'Night Shift' was King's fifth book and the first anthology containing many short stories later adapted for TV and cinema. Nominated for the 1979 World Fantasy and Locus Award. Williams, Joy
Doubleday, New York, 1978. First Edition. SIGNED by the author on the title page. Joy Williams' scarce second novel, which many claim was "killed" from going into a second printing by an especially scathing review by New York Times writer Anatole Broyard. The novel would remain out of print until Fairy Tale Press rereleased it in 2008 with an introduction written by Rick Moody, and has now been popularly redeemed, republished in 2018 for its 40th anniversary as well. From the collection of author Chris Offutt. Offutt is the author of "Kentucky Straight" and other short story collections, novels, nonfiction, and memoirs, and, in 1996, was named one of the twenty Best Young American Novelists by "Granta" magazine. He has also written for popular television shows and national publications, has been visiting faculty at numerous institutions including the Iowa Writer's Workshop, and has received awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and others. Fine in a Near Fine dust jacket. Light foxing on the top page edges, with light fading to the spine panel of the dust jacket, and a tiny closed tear at the top rear jacket fold. Tim O'Brien
New York: Delacorte / Seymour Lawrence, 1978. The covers are sunned, and the spine is somewhat askew, still about a Like New copy. To be published by Delacorte / Seymour Lawrence, this is NOT the published edition, but the paperback bound galleys (here called Uncorrected Proof) in plain wrappers, preceding the trade edition. In a protective mylar wrapper. 344 pp. Signed "Peace, Tim O'Brien." The covers are sunned, and the spine is somewhat askew, still about a Like New copy. Proofs/advance reader copies are considered the 'true' first edition by many collectors. Since they are produced in relatively small numbers, they are highly desirable. Usually even scarcer, bound galleys, when present, precede proofs and advance reader copies. In a blend of reality and fantasy, this novel tells the story of a young soldier who one day lays down his rifle and sets off on a quixotic journey from the jungles of Indochina to the streets of Paris. In its memorable evocation of men both fleeing from and meeting the demands of battle, Going After Cacciato stands as much more than just a great war novel. Ultimately it's about the forces of fear and heroism that do battle in the hearts of us all. A National Book Award-winning novel and a key title in the literature of the Vietnam War. By the author of If I Die in a Combat Zone, The Things They Carried, and In the Lake of the Woods. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]

[Metropoli]
(stampa: Tipografia La Piramide, poi altre), 1978. Collezione completa. Esemplari in ottime condizioni; il n. 1 nella rara emissione «censurata» coperta da etichette. Rara collezione completa. La collezione comprende: «Preprint 1/4» (dicembre 1978); n. 1 e «Pre-print» 2/1 (giugno 1979), n. 2 e «Pre-print» 3/2 (aprile 1980); n. 3 (febbraio 1981); n. 4 (aprile 1981); n. 5 (giugno 1981); n. 6 (settembre 1981); n. 7 (dicembre 1981). [Click Below for Full Description]

Tatum, Art. (1909-1956)
1978 National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences "Hall of Fame" certificate, posthumously recognizing Art Tatum's solo albums "The Genius of Art Tatum." The certificate features a large embossed seal of the National Academy at the head. Together with a letter to Mrs. Geraldine Tatum, Art Tatum's widow, from the President of the Academy, presenting the award, and the original mailer in which the certificate was sent. Rather heavily toned, but overall in very good condition. 11.5 x 16 inches (29 x 40.5 cm). From the Estate of Art Tatum.Art Tatum is considered one of the world's greatest jazz pianists. Tatum had received some formal musical training but, utilizing his perfect pitch, was mainly self-taught. He was known for his experimental and creative playing, as well as his legendary speed and improvisational skills. Despite being nearly blind, Tatum's dexterity made him an excellent player, as can be heard on the 1933 recording 'Tea for Two,' one of his best known songs. Ahead of his time, Art Tatum's techniques would contribute to the development of modern jazz, with aspects of his technique influencing musicians including Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, and Oscar Peterson. Tatum, after his sadly premature death at age 47, was recognized for his considerable talents and his contributions to the jazz world when he was posthumously inducted into the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame, the International Hall of Fame, and awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, among other honors.
