        A Glimpse of Thomas Traherne

London: World's End Press, 1978. ANN BRUNSKILL - gained a Diploma 1962 Chelsea College of Art, she is a Former member of Royal society of Painter Etchers. She was then selected for Crafts Advisory Committee Index and given a bursary for work with printed books. She started her artistic life as a printmaker and then in 1974 published her first Livre d'Artiste. APHRODITE was a portfolio with etchings on steel and facing poems set by Circle Press. During the next 10 years she published five more books: AESOP’S FABLES, THE ROMAUNT OF THE ROSE, THOMAS TRAHERNE { the one here }, THE GIRL IN THE APPLE & KROPOTKIN ESCAPES under the imprint of The World's End Press. They were illustrated with etchings and hand coloured wood blocks, and printed entirely in the studio. These are widely collected and are held in Museums and National Libraries. This was the third book produced at the World's End press. With this book the Artist changed to woodblock printing to enable her to bring real colour to the publication. The blocks were painted with watercolour and printed using the Japanese method. This went a long way towards true integration of word and image. Here we have one etching and eight pages of multi-coloured woodcuts. The Text is in 24pt on Velin Cuves paper by B.F.K. Rives. This is a Fine copy, number 19 and Signed by Brunskill. The Covers are illustrated also, and are set in quarter leather binding, enclosed in a Navy Slip Box, which itself is firm and square, if with rubs at the extremities. A choice item. OFFERS WILL BE GIVEN CONSIDERATION.. Limited Edion 19/50 Copies SIGNED. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good - Slip Case. Illus. by Brunskill, Ann. Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall.
