A worldwide bestseller since its publication in 1978, Irving's classic is filled with stories inside stories about the life of T.S. Garp, novelist and son of Jenny Fields. "There is something of Byron about John Irving. Not only is it that he woke after the publication of The World According To Garp to find himself famous, but the extremity of his opinions and the nervous violence of his language recall that intemperate noleman, and like Byron, he would certainly say that love is no sinecure" (Robertson Davies).

Two important detailed original medical illustrations prepared for the House Select Committee on Assassinations detailing the trajectory of the first bullet that struck John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963: the infamous "single bullet" that not only struck the President, but Governor John Connally as well. A highly desirable and unique assassination relic, and one of the most iconic images of the investigation of the President's murder

A pair of original and very dramatic 10" x 12.5" medical illustrations, accomplished with ink, gray wash, and tape, depicting the trajectory of the first bullet that struck John F. Kennedy set against profiles of the President's head and shoulders produced for the 1978 hearings on the murder of John F. Kennedy by the House Select Committee on Assassinations. Both drawings, rendered by medical illustrator Ida G. Dox of Bethesda Maryland (who signs the lefthand drawing "Dox"), are housed in a 25" x 15.5" mat bearing her credit on the verso. Both illustrations are covered by a sheet of heavy art paper bearing a stamped note: "DO NOT TOUCH SURFACE OF DRAWING". Offered with a 10" x 8" photograph of Washington D.C. police test firing Oswald's rifle on a shooting range. Beside some minor marginal wear to mat, both drawings are in extremely fine condition. The drawings come from the estate of Cecil W. Kirk (1938-2011) a police officer, investigator and photography expert who served

Twelve Instant Images on Polaroid Type 105 Positive/Negative Film (Limited Edition Portfolio of 12 Hand Signed Prints)

New York: Polaroid, 1978. Limited Edition . No Binding. Fine. This is a very rare limited edition portfolio of signed prints by 12 of the most important modern masters of photography that was released in 1974 with a limitation of 50 portfolios that were hand signed by the photographers. This should not be confused with the non-signed edition that was released with a limitation of 950 portfolios. (For these portfolios, a facsimile signature was used.) The portfolio is entitled \"Twelve Instant Images on Polaroid Type 105 Positive/Negative Film\". Polaroid launched this project to show that this film process could successfully compete with gelatin silver prints as a fine art medium. The company gave cameras plus a generous stock of film to Ansel Adams, David Bailey, Walker Evans, Yousuf Karsh, Ulrich Mack, Sarah Moon, Lennart Nilson, Kishin Shinoyama, Jeanloup Sieff, Josef Sudek, Oliviero Toscani, and Minor White. The portfolio consists of the image that each photographer felt was the best of the photographs they had taken. The photogravure prints were done by C.J. Bucher AG, Lucerne, Switzerland and were printed on cardboard Bristo satinized very white, 320 grams. The size of the paper is 17.25 x 13 inches with each of the images varying in size with most in the 13 x 10 inch or 10 x 10 inch range. The text sheets provide information on each of the photographs and includes a short bio on the photographer as well as information about the photograph such as the date it was taken, camera used, exposure time, and information on the subject of the photograph. The last text page is the limitation page. This is an out of series portfolio with no number indicated. All 12 of the signed prints are in perfect, unused and unmounted condition. Each photograph is hand-signed by the photographer below the image. The portfolio case is in FINE condition. The laid in description sheets are also in FINE condition with the title sheet having some offset from the box. Please email me for additional information or additional photographs.

        Inscribed "Star Trek" Shooting Script

Hollywood, 1978. pamphlet. Original 1978 motion picture shooting script, July 19, 1978, for the Paramount Pictures film, "Star Trek: The Motion Picture," 134 pages, 4to, bound with metal fasteners with the addition of a studio custom-designed cover. The title page indicates that the screenplay was written by Gene Roddenberry and Harold Livingston and the story by Alan Dean Foster. Paramount was able to secure the services of legendary film director Robert Wise ("The Sound of Music" and "West Side Story"), but the intellectual property and production credit is assigned to Roddenberry alone. As this project was masked in great secrecy, Paramount advises: "This script is not for publication or reproduction. No one is authorized to dispose of same. If lost or destroyed, please notify script department." Roddenberry has boldly signed on the cover, "To Ron - with best wishes for our mutual future in Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry." It is worthy to note that he has made the "G" in Gene very similar to the starship Enterprise. A small damp-stain on the "G" has blurred the ink; otherwise near fine condition. American television screenwriter, producer, and futurist, best known for creating the American television science fiction series Star Trek.

Shosha [Signed association copy, that of Erwin Leiser]

New York: Farrar Straus Giroux, 1978 New York: Farrar Strauss Giroux, 1978. First Edition / First Printing. Signed, inscribed, and dated (May 29, 1981) by the author on the ffep to Erwin Leiser. Octavo, 277 pp. Fine copy in a near-fine dustjacket showing a bit of small-scale edgewear. At the time of its release Singer's first novel in six years, Shosha is a love story in typically offbeat Singer style. Originally written in Yiddish as were almost all most of his novels, Shosha's English title is the name of a childhood love of the protagonist. An aspiring writer in 1930's Poland, his career is being given a boost by a visiting American couple, and he's essaying the romancing not only of the American wife but of several other women as well when he again encounters Shosha. Been there, done that, though not in Poland. Erwin Leiser (1923-1996) was a highly-regarded German-born journalist and director of trenchant documentaries both historical and political in character, having especially to do with the Nazis and the holocaust, the latter being a documentary topic for which he may have been the first director. A handsome example. L53n
