The Basilisk Press, 1976. #414 of 515 copies. Four cased volumes - 13 x 18.5, 3 - 12 x 8.75. Such is the reputation of this late 18th century English landscape designer that the Encyclopaedia Britannica, after observing "Repton advocated a gradual transition between house and grounds by means of terraces, balustrades, and steps. He was influenced by the Picturesque movement, which admired wild landscapes," cites this limited edition work in the entry. Based on the "red books" (red Moroccan bindings) that he provided clients, three of his greatest achievements are here-- Antony House, Attingham Park and Sheringham Hall. Included are facsimiles of his hand-written pages and watercolors, featuring a delightful "before-and-after" feature-- tuck-in overlays. The final volume, by Edward Malins, contains B&W photographs of these great houses and grounds. Boards are Swedish hand-marbled in red/brown/white with a leather quarter spine with gilt lettering. Pages are of specially mould made rag wove English paper. This is a near fine set, only because of scuffing along heel of the Attingham volume and final volume (which shows slight spine color fade). The sturdy brown case shows some scraping along the bottom front and and corners and some discoloration along the back edge. [Attributes: Hard Cover]

Jay Martin
Boston: Houghton Mifflin. wear and use, last two pages of typescript in tatters, other moderate flaws, but overall in good typical condition. With Russia in the news so much this book becomes a valuable, timely, rare source of who the Russians are and why they think the way they do. Generally speaking. In 1976 Professor of literature and author of several books on literary figures including Henry Miller, Conrad Aiken and Robert Lowell spent six months in Moscow as a visiting professor. This book is a fascinating account of his journey and the Russian people he came to know. It is written in the manner of Blue Highways. It really is quite startling the degree of the failed state, the goodness and intelligence of some of the people, the extent of the corrupt and broken economy, the extreme level of paranoia and the state relentlessly watching and controlling the citizens, ala "1984". But this book is not a large dry survey but one person boldly going deeper and deeper, away from the University to people and places that illuminate Russia. The severe winters. The trauma of the relentless killing and fighting the Nazi's only a generation before. There are reasons the Russians are so disturbed. Professor Martin didn't intend on writing a book but he probably felt compelled to get the message out. What is offered here are the typescript sent to the publisher that is heavily marked by the editors including some author changes. Next is the Master Proof, also heavily marked up by the editors. Both about 285 loose pages each. There are two notebooks with hand written drafts and notes. … [Click Below for Full Description]

SIGNED by Andrew Wyeth on the half title page. SIGNED by Betsy James Wyeth also on the title page. Very good in a very good dust jacket. Wyeth at Kuerners is a book about the artist by his wife that contains 370 reproductions, 315 of which have never been reproduced before, and reveals a startlingly intimate view of Wyeth at work. In her introduction, Betsy Wyeth explains that her husband begins with scores of quick prestudies in pencil, dry brush and watercolor which he spreads on the floor and tacks on the walls of his studio when he is ready to start on a tempera painting. Many of these still bear the splash marks of raindrops, the paw prints of family dogs, the artist's footprints, and in one case added drawing by Wyeth's young son Jamie. She also points out that nearly all of Wyeth's work.. and soul it almost seems as well.. has centered on only two locations: The Olson farm in Maine and the Kuerner farm in Pennsylvania. In presenting the material she lets us see not only how the artist works but allows us to share with him his deepest feelings about the place and the people who live there … [Click Below for Full Description]

Condition: Like New. PLEASE READ DETAILS CAREFULLY AND THOROUGHLY. PRICES ON SHIPPING ARE NOT THE FINAL TOTAL. If you buy before discussing with me arrangements to get this will be on you. First thing if you buy this we need to discuss shipping or meeting somewhere. I could not list a shipping price that would be comparable to what it is gonna cost. I discussed with EBay on the telephone what shipping would cost so standard priority is around $200, Media mail $100, international $600. There will be more books coming as I have preordered every book being released up to April of 2019. It is between 6 to 10 more books. Most books have never been read. This collection is rare and very few people have all of the books included in this collection. Publication of books range from 1976 to Present day. Several of the Hardbacks I have you can't even buy in the USA as for they were only released in HB format in Europe and Britain. It also contains multiple copies in different formats. These formats include Science Fiction Book Club Editions (smaller HBs, 1st Printing HB (larger standard size HB), and Paperback editions. Several books u can't even find for sale these days. These include HardBack copies of Shadow Games, Lando Calrissian Books from the 70's, and many others. It took many years and a lot of patience along with money. If you want specifics PM me and I can send you the details of any books you want to know about. All books are in mint condition. Some of the older l EU JR novels may have a blemish here and there, but they are in the best possible condition a buyer could buy. … [Click Below for Full Description]

PERRY. MARK. Edits.
Mark Perry. London. 1976/77. First Editions. Quartos. Mimeograph stapled magazines. Original issues of numbers one to twelve, a complete run of the Fanzine (two supplements, or special issues, were published but are not present here). Complete with the original flexi-disc single Love Lies Limp, by Alternative TV on SG Records as issued with number 12. All issues are generally in very good condition, with some staple rust to a couple of volumes, two closed tears to the rear wrapper of volume two, and the odd finger mark to margins here and there. Housed in a purpose made chemise and black cloth slipcase with leather label to the spine, ruled and lettered in gilt. ---------- Sniffin' Glue, the first punk fanzine, was produced by Mark Perry in July 1976 a few days after seeing US punk band The Ramones for the first time at the Roundhouse in London. He took the title from a Ramones song 'Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue'. The early days of the Punk movement largely failed to attract the attention of television or the mainstream press, and Sniffin' Glue remains a key source of photographs of, and information about, contributors to the scene. NME acclaimed "Sniffin' Glue" as "the nastiest, healthiest and funniest piece of press in the history of rock'n'roll habits" and it really became the true chronicle of the early days of British punk rock as well as pioneering the DIY punk ethic. Later, some called it the Bible of the punk movement. For the final issue Mark's sidekick Sniffin' Glue photographer, business affairs and later band manager Harry Murlowski recorded Love Lies Limp releas … [Click Below for Full Description]
