It has been used for handwritten character and other pattern recognition tasks, recommender systems, and even natural language processing. His work which was heavily influenced by Hubel and Wiesel led to the development of the first convolutional neural networks, which are based on the visual cortex organization found in animals. They are variations of multilayer perceptrons designed to use minimal amounts of preprocessing." --Andrew Fogg, "A History of Machine Learning and Deep Learning", Machine Learning, May 30, 2018.__+__ "He is one of the pioneers in the field of neural networks and has been engaged in modeling neural networks of the brain since 1965. His special interests lie in modeling neural networks of the higher brain functions, especially the mechanism of the visual system. [Genesis P-Orridge, COUM Transmissions, Throbbing Gristle]
N.p.: N.p., 1975. Original poster for a performance by COUM Transmissions held on February 18, 1975 at the Stedelijk Academy in Ghent, Belgium. The third in a series of five performances in the "Omissions" series, the previous two taking place that same month in Belgium and the final two in May and June in Germany. Scarce, with OCLC locating just a single copy. Brainchild of Genesis P-Orridge (nee Neil Megson), COUM Transmissions was an influential and controversial performance art group. Using similar techniques as, and occasionally working with, such experimental artists as William Burroughs, Brion Gysin, and the FLUXUS collective, as well as explicit nudity, bodily fluids, and other taboo material, they created shocking and confrontational exhibitions and happenings. The "Omissions" performances were very much in line with this aesthetic, with tour organizer Jean Paul van Bendegem describing them as "an exploration in the unusual of existing art-disciplines and a research in between these disciplines." 13.25 x 23 inches. Occasional light foxing, else Fine. Ford, Simon. "Wreckers of Civilisation" US.4-5.7, 12.7-12.8.

Warhol, Andy (SIGNED)
Harcourt, Brace, Jovanovich, 1975. 241 pages. Dust jacket design by Herb Lubalin. Jacket photo of Andy Warhol by Philippe Halson. Signed with drawing by Andy Warhol. Lightly bumped with upper corner wear. Visible staining to the upper corner of the text block extending down the fore-edge about three inches. That upper corner is a bit wavy throughout the book. The black front endpaper contact with the half-title page created a darkened stain in the upper corner. The dust jacket has wear at the spine ends and corners. The rear flap is creased and there is a bit of color fading on the rear panel next to the spine. The jacket is protected now in a Mylar archival sleeve. Stated 'First Edition.' A presentation copy from Warhol ("To Brian") that, despite the obvious flaw, is still quite collectible for Warhol's signature and drawing on the half-title page of a Campbell's Soup can. Interestingly, he labeled the soup can Chicken Noodle Soup, a departure from the usual Tomato Soup labeling he created for other book signings. Additionally, he initialed the page along the fore-edge from the bottom corner of the same page, the impression from which is visible on the next two pages. The aforementioned staining to the upper corner has barely touched a small portion of the upper-edge of Warhol's drawing. Please see the accompanying photos. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]

Alain Robbe-Grillet (director, screenwriter); Jean-Louis Trintgnant, Philippe Noiret, Anicee Alvina, Sylvia Kristel (starring)
France: Arcadie Productions, 1975. Two vintage color and five borderless, black and white reference photographs from the 1975 film. One of ten films made by the French novelist Robbe-Grillet, ostensibly about the target of a kidnapping plot hiding out at a high society brothel, but in reality an exercise in image making, fourth wall breaking, and the exploration of Robbe-Grillet's usual concerns of eroticism, voyeurism, and doppelgangers. One of his most commercially successful films, down mostly to the presence of "Emmanuelle" star Sylvia Kristel, far more prevalent in the marketing material (she appears in two of the photographs here) than in the actual film. 7 x 5 inches. Fine.

Ali, Muhammad [Toni Morrison]
Random House, New York, 1975. First edition. Octavo, original cloth. Signed by Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison on the front free endpaper. Morrison served as editor for this book. Fine in a near fine dust jacket. Jacket design by Robert Aulicino. Written with Richard Durham. We have never seen another example signed by Morrison. In his own words, the heavyweight champion of the world pulls no punches as he chronicles the battles he faced in and out of the ring in this fascinating memoir edited by Nobel Prize-winning novelist, Toni Morrison. Growing up in the South, surrounded by racial bigotry and discrimination, Ali fought not just for a living, but also for respect and rewards far more precious than money or glory. He was named Sportsman of the Century by Sports Illustrated and the BBC. Ali redefined what it meant to be an athlete by giving hope to millions around the world and inspiring us all to fight for what is important to us. This is a multifaceted portrait of Muhammad Ali only he could render: sports legend; unapologetic anti-war advocate; outrageous showman and gracious goodwill ambassador; fighter, lover, poet, and provocateur; an irresistible force to be reckoned with. Little, Joan]; Davis, Angela
various publishers, Various places, 1975. In August 1974, Joan Little escaped from the Beaufort County Jail in Washington, North Carolina, where she was being held for breaking and entering. The body of guard Clarence Alligood, stabbed with an icepick, was discovered on Little's bunk, naked from the waist down, with semen on his leg. Little turned herself in the following week, claiming that she had killed Alligood in self-defense when he attempted to rape her. She was charged with capital murder, which carried a mandatory death sentence. Little's case attracted the interest of the civil rights, feminist, and anti-death-penalty movements, in intersecting and sometimes conflicting ways. The Southern Poverty Law Center and the National Organization for Women both offered support, as did the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, which broke with Little over her reluctance to use the funds raised in her defense on marches: "You don't need to agitate the way you did in the '60s. In my case, people should deal with reality." Rosa Parks co-founded the Detroit chapter of the Joan Little Defense Committee, and members of Congress, including Shirley Chisholm, called on the Justice Department to ensure Little a fair trial. In August 1975, Little became the first woman in United States history to be acquitted of murder on the grounds that the use of deadly force was justified in resisting sexual assault. This group of materials includes five items produced in the months before Little's 1975 trial. Joan Little pronounced her name "Jo Ann," and her name appeared variously in print as … [Click Below for Full Description]
