1975. PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL NOT SHIP THIS ITEM OUTSIDE THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES For many years I accumulated tens of thousands of these 1975 baseball cards and as I bought them I sifted through them with an eye toward grade and centering to put together what I think are some incredibly nice sets. It's time to sell them. The cards in this set all high grade and in a set notorious for mis-centering these are centered pretty nicely. Further, you won't find any surprises on centering in this listing. There are no cards with centering any worse than those you see in my pictures. I WILL COMBINE SHIPPING ON MULTIPLE ORDERS BUT ONLY IF YOU WAIT FOR AN INVOICE. OTHERWISE I'LL ASSUME THAT YOU WANT YOUR ITEMS ASAP REGARDLESS OF COST. NO RETURNS ACCEPTED UNLESS THERE'S A GROSS ERROR ON MY PART.

Guild Cooperative Fellowship
Guild Cooperative Fellowship, Chicago, 1975. Consecutive, partial run of Second City, a radical Chicago newspaper. Though dates only appear after volume 3, issue 6, they seem to have been published about every two months, so we can date these issues (Volume 3, Issue 1 through Volume 4, Issue 9) to about May 1971 through August 1975 (the final issue). In tabloid newspaper format, each issue measuring about 11.5" x 18". Printed on cheap newsprint stock, the issues are generally in about very good condition, with old folds at the center, some chipping to the edges, and a few partial splits. Overall clean and complete. Each volume bears an old university library stamp, but is otherwise unmarked. A scarce consecutive run of this radical Chicago newspaper, which seems to have been under the heel of Mayor Daley's police department from the beginning. According to Geoffrey Rips's account of police surveillance of radical periodicals, the Chicago Police Department had a "Red Squad," tasked with intimidating this and similar newspaper outfits. The magazine is both serious and satirical, with political cartoons of local and national interest, right next to serious articles about the majoy political issues of the period. While we note a couple dozen institutional holdings of partial or full runs of the magazine in OCLC, we could not locate any issues in commerce as of this listing, and presume this to be a rather scarce periodical. Volume 6 is inscribed on the half title 'Nigel Nicolson June 23 1982 Sissinghurst Castle.' Nicolson was the son of Harold Nicolson and Vita Sackville-West. He grew up at Sissinghurst Castle, where his parents created the famous garden. He and George Weidenfeld co-founded the publishing house Weidenfeld & Nicolson, of which he was a director from 1948 to 1992. He also worked as a broadcaster and was elected as Conservative MP for Bournemouth East and Christchurch in 1952. He was uncomfortable within the Tory party and voted with Labour to abolish hanging and abstained in a vote of confidence in the government over the Suez Crisis. He was forced out by his constituency association - his decision to publish Lolita didn't help his cause. Nicolson turned to writing and co-wrote a book on his parents, Portrait of a Marriage. It balanced a frank account of his bisexual parents' extramarital affairs with their enduring love for each other; it caused an uproar when it was published. King, Stephen
Doubleday. Stephen King (1975) ‘Salem’s Lot‘, US first edition, first printing, first state with the rare first state dust jacket, published by Doubleday. All first issue points present: ‘First Edition’ on the copyright page and ‘Q37’ gutter code on the last page as called for. Also, there is a small insect nibble on the edge of the front flap as shown. Otherwise, there is no other chipping, nor any other damage. Provenance and Publication History: ‘Salem’s Lot’, Stephen King’s second novel, saw a relatively low print run of 20,000 copies. In total, three states of the dust jacket were printed. The first state jacket refers to ‘Father Cody’ in the front flap text, and the price was set at $8.95 at the top right corner. Philip K. Dick
Philip K. Dick (1975) 'Confessions of a Crap Artist', US signed limited edition, published by Entwhistle Books. One of only 90 signed and numbered copies of which this is lucky no. 13. Condition: fine as pictured. Near fine for the most pedantic of judges. No dust jacket as issued. Genuinely signed copies of any of Philip K. Dick's books are exceptionally scarce and in high demand. Here an opportunity to own a genuine signature even though the novel is not such a sci-fi classic as 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' or 'Ubik'. Good value. Written in 1959 it took 16 more years before finally published in 1975. First and Fine.
