Amazing Gerald Ford assassination attempt archive including 7 original signed pieces documenting the historic event from an eyewitness account

, November 17, 1976 Amateur photographer and history buff Terence J. Cox saw history in the making on September 22, 1975 in San Francisco and did what any aspiring photographer would do - point and shoot. The result of that historical day is contained in this archive. According to newspaper clippings, Cox was standing only a mere 10 feet away from the would-be assassin, Sara Jane Moore on Post Street across from the St. Francis Hotel. This attempt came 17 days after Charles Manson follower, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme made an attempt on the President's life. Moore at one time immersed herself in counter-culture to become a political revolutionary. She was recruited by the FBI informant to help with the Patty Hearst kidnapping. After her radical friends found out she was an FBI spy, they turned their backs on her. Moore's attempt at assassinating the President was a way back into their good graces. After being arrested that day, Moore plead guilty to the assassination attempt and received a life sentence. She was up for parole in

        Interview With The Vampire

NY: Knopf. 1976. Her acclaimed first book, the first in the Vampire Lestat series, and one of the unlikeliest success stories of any publishing season. Modest hardcover sales of the book would not have led one to imagine the long-term popularity and success of Rice's later books in the Vampire Lestat series, nor did they predict the huge success this novel had in paperback, selling millions of copies; it has been estimated that Rice has sold more than a hundred million copies of her books over the years, and this title has gone through several successive collectible editions. Even so, Rice's novels did not begin to approach such sales again until her second vampire novel, which was published after two mainstream historical novels. Rice's vampire novels have been unprecedented bestsellers as well as being critically acclaimed, and even her erotic novels of sado-masochism have achieved a kind of mainstream success that defies prediction. This was the basis for a well-received movie in 1994, directed by Neil Jordan and starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, among others. Rice abandoned the vampire genre in 2004, in a prominently announced return to her Roman Catholic faith. This is the scarcest of the books, particularly in nice condition, as the gold foil dust jacket is notoriously prone to wear. Fine in a fine dust jacket, and scarce thus. First Edition. Hardcover.

        Interview with the Vampire

New York: Alfred A. Knopf. 1976. First. First edition. Fine in fine dustwrapper with a couple of minute scuffs to the easily-worn, gold-foil jacket. A lovely copy of the author's first book, and the first entry in her Vampire Chronicles. Basis for the Neil Jordan film with Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Antonio Banderas, Stephen Rea, Christian Slater, and 12 year-old Kirsten Dunst in her breakthrough role. A widely influential book, as seen by the cottage-industry of vampiric anti-heroes which generally follows the themes and characterizations created by Rice (vampire-angst, vampires who only bite bad guys, vampires who love puppies, etc.). .

Two Football Magazines With Early Sex Pistols Advertisements

United Kingdom. 1976. Two programs. Octavos. Stapled pictorial wrappers. Near fine or better with only a bit of wear along the spine. Two English football programs from 1976, Manchester City F.C. Match Mag and Ipswich Town, that include two of the earliest examples of the Jamie Reid-designed Sex Pistol adverts (one full page and one half page) for the Pistol's infamous Anarchy in the U.K. tour. Both are dated December 4, 1976, just three days after the Pistol's first run-in with the press after famously cursing on a live evening broadcast of Thames Television's Today program. And like that appearance, these ads demonstrated the media savvy of both the Pistols and their manager, Malcolm McLaren, who knew that a concert audience of football hooligans was far more likely to generate press coverage. It is well-established that many of the early instigators of the punk scene were football fans (as evidenced by the influence of football zines on music zines and their occasional commingling). At the very least, the ads are prima facia evidence of McLaren's brilliant and unusual marketing of the tour that brought punk into the public eye. .
