INGMAR BERGMAN **HAND SIGNED & INSCRIBED IN SWEDISH** on a FILM PROMO PHOTO of His Film FACE TO FACE

FACE TO FACE (Swedish: Ansikte mot Ansikte) 8x10 inch film promotional photo (a reduced reproduction of the film's poster) with the ORIGINAL SIGNATURE and PERSONALIZED INSCRIPTION of INGMAR BERGMAN, the film's director. The inscription is not dated but is likely circa 1976, the year the film was released. This 8x10 inch poster repro is printed on Kodak photo paper. HAND SIGNED and INSCRIBED in SWEDISH by INGMAR BERGMAN in black felt pen on the left margin of the photo. The inscription reads: "TILL PETER DANKERS MED HJÄRTLIGT TACK FÖR DREV FR (Från) INGMAR BERGMAN". The English Translation is: "TO PETER DANKERS WITH HEARTFELT THANKS FOR THE DRIVE FR (from) INGMAR BERGMAN". INGMAR BERGMAN'S SIGNATURE is RARE, his INSCRIPTION very much so, and his INSCRIPTION in SWEDISH is both rare and incredible, imho. VERY GOOD condition, the upper front corner tip is creased and starting to peel, there is a 2 inch piece of clear tape on the backside near the top edge, otherwise solid and bright. Would look amazing matted and framed. INGMAR BERGMAN, b. 1918 d. 2007, was one of the greatest film directors of all time. You can read about him and his films all over the Internet. The SIGNATURE and INSCRIPTION of INGMAR BERGMAN on this item are GUARANTEED for LIFE to be AUTHENTIC. Very Good .

Fantabulous New York Rock Party, Manhattan Center in New York, May 30, 1976 (Original poster for the 1976 benefit concert)

Wayne County Defense Fund, New York 1976 - Original poster advertising "The Fantabulous New York Rock Party," held at the Manhattan Center in New York on May 30, 1976. An ironic moment in New York punk and art scene history, some of the earliest evidence that the movement created to mock celebrity status was beginning to see itself in terms of celebrity. Also interesting here is evidence of early sub-divisions of punk mainstays (e.g., Dee Dee Ramone of the Ramones, Jerry Nolan, Walter Lure, and Johnny Thunders of the New York Dolls), the presence of by-then-established Factory luminaries of the late 1960s (Holly Woodlawn), professional groupies (Sable Starr), and trans-gender representatives (Divine and the cast of "Women Behind Bars," Wayne County and the Back Street Boys). Mention is also made of door prizes consisting of memorabilia signed by a number of punk antecedents, including David Bowie, Aerosmith, and Kiss.A benefit organized to benefit Wayne County's Defense Fund, and we're not talking about Wayne County, Michigan, but an inter-punk legal situation. At a performance in March 1976 at a Wayne County performance at CBGBs, "Handsome Dick" Manatoba of the Dictators was throwing homophobic taunts at transgender punkster Wayne County and County responded in kind by hitting Manitoba with a mike stand and breaking his collar bone. The case was eventually thrown out of court, and the rift between the New York punk scene and the Dictators became a chasm.17.5 x 22 inches, rolled. Near Fine, with some creasing to the top corners and edges, and a single short closed tear. [Attributes: Signed Copy]

Inuit Land Use and Occupancy Project : A Report Prepared by Milton Freeman Research Limited Under Contract with the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs. Volumes 1, 2 & 3 Complete (First Nations, Land Claims)

Ottawa, ON: Minister of Supply and Services Canada, 1976. Paperback. At Least Very Good. Illustrated card wraps, three 4to volumes (12 inches [30.5 cm] tall), pp. [v.1 Land Use and Occupancy], 263, color frontis, 56 maps ; [v.2 Supporting Studies with photo essay by Terry Pearce], 287, maps 57-84 (some fold-outs), 20 tables ; [v.3 Land Use Atlas], xxiii, errata, 153 color maps (some fold-outs) plus color map endpapers, index, notes, references. Volume covers with light wear, bumps and creases - text unmarked in all three volumes. A famous and landmark report which successfully demonstrated both use and occupancy by the Inuit of their traditional lands and waterways - thereby laying important groundwork for the Northwest Territories, Indigenous peoples and to some degree, helping to move towards a sort of Arctic "Declaration of Independence" through the Circumpolar Inuit Declaration on Arctic Sovereignty. From the preface "In February 1973 Inuit Tapirisat of Canada proposed to the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs that research be undertaken to produce a comprehensive and verifiable record of Inuit land use and occupancy in the Northwest Territories of Canada. The record so obtained would delimit the present and past use and occupation of the land and marine environment and would categorize the uses which any particular area served. In view of the continuing role which land plays in defining the cultural and ecologic circumstances of Inuit society, the research was also to provide an explicit statement - by the Inuit - of their perceptions of the man-land relationship." (Freeman, 1976, p. 19). ISBN - v1 0660003996 ; v2 0660004003 ; v3 0660004011.

Archive of original artwork for Nancy, including daily and Sunday comic strips

N.p.: N.p., 1976. Archive of original artwork by Ernie Bushmiller for his seminal comic strip Nancy, totaling 12 pieces. Included are the artworks for seven Sunday strips drawn between 1971 and 1974, and five daily strips drawn between 1953 and 1974. As with American cinema, it was the French who first championed the studied simplicity of Bushmiller's un-deconstructible combination of rigid artistic style and even more rigidly governed humor. In 2012, Fantagraphics Press took on the long overdue task of putting the complete series into book form, a project that will take years to complete. In our estimation, Daniel Clowes put it best in his introduction to Fantagraphics' recently published first volume of Bushmiller's long run. Clowes astutely points out that the Nancy seems to come "from some primal Jungian dreamscape, miraculously transmitted into the morning paper." He goes on to say how he imagines Bushmiller at work, "carefully extracting every shred of irony from each frame." Sunday artwork 17.25 x 24 inches, daily artwork 21 x 6.25 inches. Black ink on heavy paper stock, with white-out, pasted-on paper additions, and brief pencil notations as always found on original comic strip art. Very Good to Very Good plus overall.

The Twelve Tasks of Asterix (Original screenplay for the 1976 film)

Paris: Dargaud Films, 1976. Draft script for the 1976 French-British film. Based on the "Asterix" comic book series by writer Goscinny and illustrator Uderzo, a series that began in 1959, serialized in Pilote magazine, and ran until Goscinny's death in 1977, afterwards written by Uderzo until 2009. The story follows the trials of the village of the Gauls and their efforts to resist Roman occupation. A magician name Getafix brews a superhuman potion for the villagers, notably the titular character, Asterix. The series has spawned thirteen films, four of them live-action, games, and a theme park near Paris, as well as selling over 300 million copies of "Asterix" books. "Twelve Tasks" is the only Asterix film based on an original screenplay rather than material from the comic books, and was later adapted into a comic book and an illustrated story book. Asterix' twelve tasks are: Run faster than Asbestos, champion of the Olympic Games; throw a javelin farther than Verses, the Persian; beat Cilindric, the German; cross a lake; survive the hypnotic gaze of Iris, the Egyptian; finish a meal by Calorofix, the Belgian; survive the Cave of the Beast; find Permit A 38 in "The Place That Sends you Mad"; cross a ravine on an invisible tightrope, over a river of crocodiles; climb a mountain and answer the Old Man's riddle; spend a night on the haunted plains; survive the Colosseum. Goldenrod titled wrappers. Title page present, undated, with credits for screenwriters Goscinny and Uderzo, and writer Hall. 101 leaves, with last leaf of text numbered 99. Mechanically reproduced.         Autograph Letter Signed ('Lucian') to Marilyn [Thorold], [c. 1976].

n.p., London 1976 - 1/2 page 4to, n.p., n.d. A note from Freud to Marilyn Thorold - fellow regular of the notorious Soho drinking establishment, The Colony Room club-presenting a cheque ('at last . I hope its [sic] in time' (cheque not here present)) and mentioning Muriel [Belcher], owner and creator of The Colony Room - 'Your asking me not to mention the matter to Muriel is quite pointless since you told her about it months ago (and why shouldnt [sic] you talk to her about anything you like?) Keep cool, love Lucian.' Letters from Lucian Freud, one of the greatest painters of the 20th century, are scarce. Very few have come to the market since Freud's death in 2011. Although undated, this is likely from around 1975/6 asThorold, who had been declared bankrupt in 1975 moved from her river-side home in Shepperton around this time, settling in Ladbroke Grove soon after. Freud's comment, 'wish you were still by the river' is probably a reference to her having left Shepperton where he must have visited. The Colony Room, located on Dean Street, was a drinking club inSoho that was frequented by major British talent, including (in the time of Belcher, who died in 1979) Freud, Francis Bacon (whowas 'adopted' by Belcher as a 'daughter' and allowed free drinks and £10 a week to bring in friends and rich patrons), Frank Auerbach, Michael Andrews and Peter O'Toole. Modest soiling on the wrappers, very near fine. [With]: two Paramount Pictures still photographs from the film, both of John Travolta, one dancing, the other in his classic white outfit. Cohn later admitted that he knew little about the disco subculture when he was asked to write a piece about it. Eventually released as Saturday Night Fever as the iconic disco film that made John Travolta and his white suit famous, and featuring some of the most popular disco songs of the era. The film was set in Brooklyn and was entirely shot there on location. Travolta was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor. The script is credited "Screenplay by Norman Wexler from an article and script by Nik Cohn. The film, whether you like it or not, is in the National Film Registry. The ultimate disco film. .

        UNTITLED SELF-PORTRAIT

(Prague), 1976. Saudek, Jan. Vintage silver gelatin photograph, 15 1/2 x 12 inches, with brown paper borders. SIGNED by the photographer in silver ink at the lower right corner. Fine. Jan Saudek and his twin brother, Karel, were born in Prague, May 1935. Their father, Gustav was of Jewish origin, and subsequently interned in the Theresienstadt concentration camp for the term of the war. There, it is reported that six of Jan's siblings died; his father survived. By 1975, Jan Saudek has already achieved a large international audience for his highly theatrical and personal photographs. In many, he is his own model, as well as other family members and friends. In 1975 he photographed his father, standing face forward to the camera wearing the Star of David in a cemetery; he calls this one of his favorite photographs 30 years later. Perhaps that 1975 photograph was his premonition, for one year later both his father and the mother of his two small children died. In the photograph we offer here, the shirtless photographer is walking away from the camera with a pick over his shoulder; walking towards the headstones in the same cemetery as he photographed his father one year earlier. Jan Saudek seldom made photographs outdoors, choosing the confines of a closed room to produce his "theater of life." It is telling that his portrait of his father and this self -portrait in a cemetery are of those few.

        Interview With the Vampire

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1976. First Edition. Cloth & Boards. Near Fine/Near Fine. A handsome First Edition (so stated) of Anne Rice's classic complete with gold foil dustjacket and signed by her on the title page. In black cloth & boards with a red topstain, this is Anne Rice's first book and the first in "The Vampire Chronicles" series. In near fine condition with a small light spot on the edge of the top page edges and some very minor reddening of the top of several pages where the red topstain has spread very slightly. With a small previous owner signature on the front free endpaper and a touch of wear at the base of the spine; otherwise the interior is clean and bright and the page edges are quite clean. The gold foil dustjacket is complete with the original price ($8.95) and "5/76" on the back leaf. The dustjacket shows the creasing that is common to this dustjacket mainly on the spine and on the front dustjacket leaf, but overall is quite nice with no tearing or chips missing. See our pictures. Protected by an archival plastic cover. Made into a 1994 major motion picture starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

1976. Modena, Officine Grafiche Arbe, 1976. PRIMA EDIZIONE. Edizione limitata a 1000 esemplari fuori commercio. Ax
