        MILAN KUNDERA MASTERPIECES

The acclaimed writings of the world-renowned master…WITH THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING PERSONALLY SIGNED BY MILAN KUNDERAGreat works from one of Europe's most important authors, featuring The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Book of Laughter and Forgetting and The Festival of Insignificance. Mr. Kundera has agreed to sign fewer than 350, so this offer will be extremely limited. The acclaimed writings of the world-renowned master…The Unbearable Lightness of Being * The Book of Laughter And Forgetting *The Festival of InsignificanceForced by the Communist government to leave his native Czechoslovakia, Milan Kundera found himself in 1975 dispossessed of the community and the restrictions that had previously shaped his writing. In exile, the author reinvented his writing – and reinvented the form of the novel. Profoundly playful and constantly questioning, combining philosophy and fiction, essay and autobiography, deep seriousness and liberating comedy, fantasy and lived human experience, Milan Kundera's novels are today regarded as essential literary documents of our time. Now, Easton Press celebrates this great artist with Milan Kundera MASTERPIECES, an exclusive three-volume, leather-bound Collector Edition that includes The Unbearable Lightness of Being personally autographed by the author, Milan Kundera. As Mr. Kundera will sign no more than 350 copies of The Unbearable Lightness of Being, this special set is extremely limited and available strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.Three essential novels from a modern master. Here in a single gorgeous matching set are Milan Kundera's breakthrough novel, most beloved best-seller, and latest provocative work – three brilliant novels that demonstrate the enduring achievement of an internationally revered author. The Book of Laughter and Forgetting (1979) A meditation on the lives of four lovers in Communist-era Prague, this is the landmark work which introduced the world to Kundera's dazzling style and vision. "[The book] is part fairy tale, part literary criticism, part political tract, part musicology, and part autobiography," wrote The New York Times. "It can call itself whatever it wants to, because the whole is genius."The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1984)"Kundera has raised the novel of ideas to a new level of dreamlike lyricism and emotional intensity," wrote Newsweek of the best-seller that made Kundera an international literary icon. The Festival of Insignificance (2015)Perhaps Kundera's final book and a provocative valedictory statement on writing, power, life, and defiant laughter. "Stunningly profound," declares National Public Radio. "A late-career confection which, in its compact slimness, re-proves Kundera's chops."An exceptional signed Collector Edition set – An opportunity to own the autograph of a legendary literary master.Easton Press has created for Milan Kundera MASTERPIECES a leather-bound set worthy of the signature of a defining literary artist of our time. A revered and unique figure in world literature, Milan Kundera's signature is already valued by collectors – and will be all the more so on this rare Collector Edition set.The work of uniquely skilled American craftsmen dedicated to the highest standards of traditional fine bookmaking, these volumes feature beautiful and enduring premium leather bindings, luxurious acid-neutral paper, 22k gold accents on a traditional "hubbed" spines, gilded page ends, and beautiful moiré fabric endsheets. This exclusive autographed set will make a superb addition to any library – and a truly impressive one-of-kind gift for any fan of Milan Kundera or the greatest achievements of contemporary literature.

Surreale Originalzeichnung in Mischtechnik ( Bleistift, Kohle, Aquarell )

Surreale Originalzeichnung in Mischtechnik ( Bleistift, Kohle, Graphit, Aquarell ) auf stärkerem Papier. . Rechts unten mit *A. Maria Schneider at the 1975 Cannes Film Festival (Collection of 35 original photographs)

N.p.: N.p., 1975. Archive of 15 and 20 double weight vintage press photographs of Maria Schneider at the 1975 Cannes Film Festival, there to promote Michelango Antonioni's Palme d'Or nominated "The Passenger," in which she starred opposite Jack Nicholson. Eight photographs with stamps of photographers Leo Mirkine, Prisco de Majo, and Daniel Angeli (four, two, and two photographs respectively) on the verso. The archive shows three distinct events during the festival, as well as other candid and posed images of Schneider. These include the premiere of the film, a press conference, and a party on a boat. Numerous photographs also feature Antonioni and co-star Jenny Runacre. Sadly, Nicholson is nowhere to be found, we assume because he was too busy hanging out with Ken Russell and The Who, as "Tommy" was screening out of competition. Other photographs show Schneider with Bernardo Bertolucci, who had directed her to instant stardom three years earlier in "Last Tango in Paris," as well as a single photograph of Schneider with Dustin Hoffman, starring in the also Palme d'Or nominated "Lenny," directed by Bob Fosse. Also included in the archive are four large negatives of photographs from the archive, a strip of five negatives of a beach, and two strips of color negatives, containing four and five images respectively, as well as three large negative of what appears to be a photoshoot of Schneider at the beach. These images are distinct from the photographs in the archive, and we can find no corresponding images online. Photograph sizes vary between 9.5 x 7.25 (24 x 18 cm) and 8 x 12 inches (20 x 30 cm), with most being 10 x 8 (25 x 20 cm) inches. Near Fine.

Diaries. [Complete set of first editions in dustwrappers; first volume SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR]. THE CELEBRATED DIARIES COMPLETE IN DUSTWRAPPERS; FIRST VOLUME SIGNED BY AUTHOR

[Chatto & Windus, Faber, Murray, 1975-2005] - 12 vols., 8vo., First Editions, with portrait frontispieces, the first three volumes with pictorial endpapers; cloth, gilt backs, a near fine set in dustwrapper. With their titles borrowed cheekily from Coleridge's 'Kubla Khan', Lees-Milne's diaries are widely recognised as one of the foremost continuous chronicles of England in the twentieth century. The twelve volumes cover the years 1942 to 1997, terminating only shortly before his death. The series as a whole passed through three publishers, the first three volumes by Chatto & Windus, the fourth by Faber (with characteristically non-uniform dustwrapper) and subsequent volumes (unsurprisingly) by John Murray. From 2001 onwards the diaries are edited by Michael Bloch. The series comprises 'Ancestral Voices. [Diaries 1942-1943]' (1975); 'Prophesying Peace: [Diaries 1944-1945]' (1977); 'Caves of Ice. [Diaries 1946-1947]' (1983); 'Midway on the Waves. [Diaries 1948-49]' (1985); 'A Mingled Measure. Diaries 1953-1972' (1994); 'Ancient as the Hills. Diaries 1973-1974' (1997); 'Through Wood and Dale. Diaries 1975-1978' (1998); 'Deep Romantic Chasm. Dairies 1979-1981' (2000); 'Holy Dread. Diaries 1982-1984' (2001); 'Beneath a Waning Moon. Diaries 1985-1987' (2003); 'Ceaseless Turnoil. Diaries 1988-1992 (2004); 'The Milk of Paradise. Diaries 1993-1997' (2005). A SPLENDID SET, RARE IN THIS CONDITION, AND WITH THE MOST ELUSIVE VOLUME SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. The earlier volumes are very scarce and all are becoming difficult. It will be hard to rebuild a similar set at this price level. [Attributes: Signed Copy; Hard Cover]

North. Poems. (INSCRIBED UNCORRECTED PROOF COPY, WITH ALs)

Faber, London, 1975. An uncorrected proof copy of the first edition, inscribed by the author thus: "Jeremy [Hooker] - / We men of the north had a word to say / and we said it then in our own dour way / And we spoke as we thought best . / Seamus / June 1977 in Aberystwyth". 8vo. 73pp. Original publisher's card wrappers, faded at spine, and just a little spotted, chafed and handled, rubbed at spine ends with a single short tear to the base of the lower wrapper. Internally in virtually fine state, with the occasional pencilled tick and margin note in the hand of Jeremy Hooker who reviewed the collection for the periodical 'Poetry Wales'. Twenty-nine poems, the author'?s fourth major collection, and probably his masterpiece. Heaney's inked inscription is an extract from the ballad 'The Man From God-Knows Where' [i.e. Thomas Russell] by Florence Mary Wilson, included in her 1918 collection 'The Coming of the Earls'. Laid-in are two hand-written letters and one typed signed card from Heaney to poet and critic Jeremy Hooker. The first letter is dated January 1975 and thanks Hooker for forwarding a copy of his verse collection 'Soliloquies' ['of a Chalk Giant'] and goes on to make several direct comparisons between that collection and his own forthcoming collection 'North' ("The poems cannot help but come through to me, as you will see when 'North' appears in the summer. There are "Bone Dreams' . including "a chalk giant" in one line - and 'Trial Pieces' from Dublin, which could be "found objects". It's great to be tunnelling and find that you're connecting with another digger"). The second letter is undated but written in circa autumn 1981 on Harvard University headed notepaper and sees Heaney regretfully declining an invitation to speak at a verse and landscape conference, proffering time constraints and existing commitments before speaking briefly about the good things he has heard about Hooker's recent verse collection. The final correspondence, typed on the author's headed card, dated August 1991 and signed 'Seamus', again regretfully declines a number of professional invitations before making brief mention of the forthcoming Radio 3 interview the two have scheduled. All three letters remain within their original mailing envelopes.. Inscribed by Author(s). 1st Edition. Soft cover. Very Good.

Diaries. [Complete set of first editions in dustwrappers; first volume SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR].. THE CELEBRATED DIARIES COMPLETE IN DUSTWRAPPERS; FIRST VOLUME SIGNED BY AUTHOR

[Chatto & Windus, Faber, Murray, 1975-2005]. 12 vols., 8vo., First Editions, with portrait frontispieces, the first three volumes with pictorial endpapers; cloth, gilt backs, a near fine set in dustwrapper.
