CAIDIN, Martin
Arbor House, 1974. Fine. Hardcover. First editions. Three volumes. Each volume is fine in fine dustwrapper with the very slightest of wear. *Operation Nuke* is an Advance Review Copy with slip laid in. *Cyborg* was the basis for the television movie *The Six-Million Dollar Man*, which became a popular series of the same name and had an equally popular spin-off, *The Bionic Woman*. Seen by almost every child of the 1970s, the show had the benefit of a cross-gender appeal: girls watched it for hunky star Lee Majors, boys tuned in because the guy was part robot. Look inside the lunchbox and you'll find a new myth of man in the technological age, one popularized in countless books and films since. Or you can just reminisce about fembots. A new film version is rumored to be in the works, but we'll believe it when we see the action figure. All volumes, particularly *Cyborg*, are very uncommon in fine condition. Madrid, 11. VII, 1974. 1 S. Gr.-4to. [Click Below for Full Description]

Bruvoll, John and others
Privately published by the author, Oslo. Full black leather with wrap-around blind stamp of salmon fly, spine titles in white; 4to; unpaged (approx 122); illustrated with photographic end papers, b/w & color photos; no publication date listed, but circa 1974. A collection of 8 essays by 5 authors from the history of the river to its noted angling for huge salmon. The text is both in English and Norwegian appearing in parallel columns. Accompanied by stunning period photographs of tremendous salmon catches. "One of the best river (sic) in Norway for salmon and sea trout is the Laerdal River, known for the noble art of angling. Among anglers it is often called the Queen of Rivers." There were two printings of this title, one in cloth and the other in leather. Both are extremely hard-to-find. The OCLC locates but one copy at the University of New Hampshire at Durham. This copy with the bookplate of noted salmon angler and author, Ronald Swanson. Interestingly, he added marginal notes to some of the photos and passages either as corrections or sharing some personal insights. A Norway salmon rarity. William Blake
London: Printed at the Trianon Press for the Trustees of the William, 1974. Condition: Fine. Number 128 of the 500 copies bound in quarter morocco, folio size, unpaginated [33 plates and 9 pp. of commentary]. Poet, printer, artist and prophet William Blake (1757 - 1827) is arguably the most original and highly-regarded English authors of all time. Although thought mad by his contemporaries, he was also held in high regard for his expressiveness and for the synthesis of philosophical and mystical senses within his work. Blake's "Jerusalem" has been spectacularly reproduced through the pochoir technique by Arnold Fawkus and his Trianon Press, which has an undeniable claim to being the finest press of its kind in the last century and has long been known for their unrivaled artworks in fine colour printing. Limited edition of 300 total, of which 50 were signed by the author and translator; an unspecified number were also signed by the artist, Hugo Manning, of which this is one, this copy being number 3 of the 50. A short story, but the longest written, by Jorge Francsico Isidoro Luis Borges, KBE (1899-1986), a literary giant in both the Spanish-language world and internationally. Regrettably never awarded the Nobel Prize, his works are highly regarded and are seen as the precursor to magical realism later typified by authors such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez. "The Congress" can be viewed as a political essay and was Borges' personal favourite; as with many human endeavors it opens with a high-minded goal and ends in ashes. DESCRIPTION: Bound in gold cloth, white lettering on the spine, ivory laid paper endpapers, tipped-in frontispiece being a reproduction of a pencil sketch by Hugo Manning entitled "Jorge Luis Borges in London, 1971"; small quarto size (approximately 9.75" tall), pagination: (i-vi), 1-17, blank, colophon; issued in a limited edition of 300 total, of which 50 were printed on Glastonbury Coloured Antique Laid paper and, per the colophon page, were signed by the author and translator; this copy is also signed by the artist and it number 3 of the 50. … [Click Below for Full Description]

Laurence, Margaret
McClelland and Stewart, Toronto, 1974. 382 pages. Publisher's Reprint Copy sent to the author for corrections, stamped on first white endpaper: "This is your reprint copy. Please go through the book. Note any corrections necessary for a reprint and return this marked copy to your editor within the next three weeks. We will retain on file for a future reprint." Despite scoring out the stamp and writing "the hell with all this", Laurence had made seven corrections. She adds Jason's Quest to the list of her books; the six other emendations [spelling mistakes, punctuation, tense] are on pages 4, 6, 155, 207, 224, 289. The corrections were likely made in 1974 or '75 [she does not add her 1976 Heart of a Stranger], and the book evidently not returned to the editor. Only one of the noted corrections is made in the Bantam edition [poetry for poety p. 155], three of the noted corrections are made in the M&S 1995 mass market paperback [Colin for Colon [6], [poetry for poety p. 155], and them" for them [224]. The three corrections that Laurence notes that an editor would not notice remain unchanged. A particularly warm inscription to one Campbell Coulter on the title page mentions their "friendship at Trent" probably referring either to her winter/spring 1974 writer in residence term or her 1981-3 stint as Chancellor. Mr. Coulter died in 2008 age 56, having retired to Bridgetown, NS, after teaching high school for 27 years in Mississauga. Jacket is toned and chipped, with a few short closed tears; soiling to a few leaves; binding sound. A very pleasing association copy of Margaret Lau … [Click Below for Full Description]
