      Hodder & Stoughton, 1974. 1st edition. Hardcover. Fine, very clean pages, in fine dustjacket, bright artwork, not price-clipped. This unique copy has the cut signature of the author on the title page, as well as the cut signature of Alec Guinness, who played George Smiley in the celebrated BBC serial, on the opposite page. Le Carre once named this title as one of his best novels, with which many reviewers and readers have concurred. This first novel in his 'Karla Trilogy' is in very nice condition indeed, and very rare as stated.

Housed together in original quarter morocco tray case, as issued. A fine set. First editions, first printing, number 18 of 51 deluxe manuscript sets for subscribers only. Ordinary editions of the six poems were published simultaneously, numbering 235, 215, 217, 222, 236, and 215 copies respectively. This set is complete with a memo from the publisher to subscribers explaining the edition limitations, along with a title page for the manuscript edition, further notes from the publisher, and a signed leaf from the original manuscript of A Dream of Oblivion, all housed in an additional paper portfolio. Upon Smith's death, bookseller Roy A. Squires was appointed his executor on the west coast and published a number of editions of Smith's poems. This set was printed for author Frank M. An illustrated journal of the Bouvier sister's 1951 European trip, which was originally presented to their parents as a thank-you upon their return.

Dust jacket is lightly edge worn with small loss at the corners and spine ends, lightly marked and soiled with scuffing to rear and surface wear. The story of the relationship between a child and her grandmother, spending time together on a quiet island in the northern sea, as told in vignettes. A touching work of fiction by Tove Jansson, more commonly known as the creator of the Moomins. The Swedish-speaking author is very celebrated in her native Finland, and books signed by her are scarce.

Clean and bright except for one light fingerprint on the foreedge of the page block and one faint gray spot on the red topstain; square, secure binding, full white cloth hard cover modestly softened and rubbed at corners and spine ends, otherwise excellent. Dust jacket bears a tiny, closed tear at the top front, lines of mild toning around the top and bottom rear, a long crease to the front interior flap, very shallow crimping at spine ends, and gentle shelfwear at spine ends and corners, otherwise clean and lovely, not priceclipped, now protected in a clear sleeve. Red cloth with gilt stamping, lacking the slip case. Near Fine, with light fading to cloth at spine, several indents to rear cover, light shelf wear. A lovely edition of Shakepeare's Sonnets, presented by the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, printed in calligraphy. "Francis Meres, a contemporary of Shakespeare, tells us that when first written the Sonnets were circulated "among his private friends," and it seems most appropriate that they should be offered once again in a hand-written form." Signed by Peggy Ashcroft and the calligrapher.

Met vijf correcties en aanvullingen in het handschrift van de auteur.l Leuke verzameling rondom de roman Lieve Jongens, uit het bezit van een belastinginspecteur te Weert, waar Reve van 1972 tot 1975 woonde. In de brief aan Vliegen meldt de schrijver dat 'het boek gezet is & gedrukt'. De voor de zekerheid gemaakte fotokopieën van het manuscript hebben voor Reve nu 'geen funksie & geen waarde' meer, dus 'misschien heeft Uw gezin er pleizier aan'. 'De achterzijden zijn te glad voor mijn kroontjespen, dus 1 & ander is voor mij niet anders dan ballast in mijn archief'.De fotokopieën betreffen drie volledige hoofdstukken-in-handschrift van Lieve Jongens. Elke fotokopie bevat enkele door Reve met de kroontjespen aangebrachte wijzigingen, volgens een aantekening op het eerste blad aangebracht op 31 augustus 1972. In de fotokopie van het zevende hoofdstuk staat, in inkt dus, de omvangrijkste aanvulling. Aan het eind van het hoofdstuk, nog net voordat de hoofdpersoon zijn scheet in een wijnglas vangt, voegde Reve deze zin toe: 'Met mijn lippen in het mondstuk van een denkbeeldige klarinet pruttelend, bootste ik zeer schaamteloos het geluid van een wind na'. In de andere hoofdstukken verving Reve een woord of laste hij er enkele in.Deze collectie biedt de unieke gelegenheid de laatste drie hoofdstukken van Lieve Jongens in het handschrift van de Meester te lezen.
