[Italy]: the artist, [1974]. 24x32 inch screen print on stiff stock, signed by the artist in pencil and numbered in a run of 100; subtle colors and fine detail; foxing in the blank margin that could be covered when framed, otherwise a lovely example in very good condition. This piece by the Italian master of anarchist screenprinting is featured in "The Art of Anarchy" (Cienfuegos Press), plate 35.

Presage Paris Fashion Forecast No XXVI Vol A: Set of 3 Installments: Les Tissés, Jerseys Façonnés Dentelles, and Les Lainages

Liechtenstein: Egaserp Établissements, 1974. Installments in uniformly near fine condition in printed cloth boards.. First Editions. Quartos. Set of 3 installments of volume A, issue number XXVI, of Presage Paris Fashion Forecast, devoted to fashion trends for the spring and summer seasons of 1976. A leading quarterly in haute couture from 1961 through 1987, Presage seamlessly combined art, fashion, and design in colorful issues on current trends, providing an alternative to the stark commercial fabric catalogues of the day. Created in Paris and marketed to an American audience, each issue sought to predict the season's styles through a selection of fabric swatches, photo illustrations, patterns, and fashion design sketches for men, women, and children. The staggering subscription fee of $750 abetted the journal's lavish production, which incorporated unusual materials such as foil, lace, styrofoam, and cloth, among other media, into its variously sparse, Pop, and postmodern designs. Under the leadership of designer Rosita Fanto, who directed the journal after its third issue, Presage also acted as a working tool for members of the specialized fashion industries; the typical volume was divided into six sections, each devoted to a distinct facet of the business and published under the titles Les Coloris (Color), Les Lainages (Wool), Les Tissés (Woven), Jersey Façonnes Dentelles (Jersey Brocade Lace), Les Imprimés (Print), and Sketch Future (Future Sketch). A noteworthy experiment in graphic design and book arts and important document of the evolution of late twentieth century fashion, the quarterly belongs to several museum and library collections, including the Yale University Library, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Centre Pompidou. The Les Tissés installment focuses on woven fashions and features 110 fabric swatches and 31 fashion design sketches, presented against colored prints. The Jerseys Façonnés Dentelles installment highlights jersey, brocade, and lace fashions and includes 201 fabric swatches, 15 color threads, 23 design prints, and 38 fashion design sketches. The Les Lainages installment presents wool-based fashions and contains 115 fabric swatches, 25 fashion design sketches, and 10 design prints for both men and women.

Tickets For A Prayer Wheel: Poems

Columbia: :: University of Missouri Press,, 1974. 0826201563. A Near Fine copy with a previous owner name to the front pastedown underneath the jacket flapin a Fine bright dust jacket. Dillard is best known for her prose narrative "Pilgrim of Tinker Creek" that explored abstract and sensory phenomena, the role of the artist in society and the creative process. The poems gathered in Tickets for a Prayer Wheel show us that the concerns of the author have not changed since she was in her twenties. Hers is a poetry of fact — of science and nature, eternity and time, and how we know what we know. Often commended for their precise imagery, these poems speak of the love between people, storytelling and poetry?'s form. This is Dillard's rare First Book..

        [Manuscript Song]: Mary Ellin Barrett

One partially printed bi-folium (one leaf folded to make four pages). The single fold is neatly reinforced with tape, else very good or better. Printed with staves, music has been filled in with pencil on two facing pages, and Berlin has captioned the song, filled in the lyrics (intended for his granddaughter, Mary Ellin Barrett of the title), and has Inscribed it at the bottom of the left-hand page: "For Mary Ellin - With love from Grandpa. 1974." Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Mary Ellin Barrett, and a photocopy of a newspaper article about Barrett and her relationship with her grandfather. Berlin famously could not write or read music, so we cannot confirm in whose hand the music is written, however, the lyrics are clearly in Berlin's hand. .

It's Always We Rambled. An Essay on Rodeo

NY: Frank Hallman. 1974. Inscribed by McMurtry to a noted Texas bookman: "This is an unfortunate mistake of mine. I suspect the limitation is erroneous./ Larry McMurtry." McMurtry doesn't indicate in which direction he believes the limitation statement errs, and this is the only time we have heard such a suggestion about this title. The stated limitation is 300 copies, each signed by the author, and while it can be assumed that like most limited editions there may have been a small print overrun to protect against damaged copies, etc., we have not heard of this book having had a significantly different number of copies than the limitation, and the fact that they were numbered seems to argue against the actual number and the limitation being very different. This is copy number 247. Fine without dust jacket, as issued. First Edition. Hardcover.

        Viaje a Cuba

[México: Fondo de Cultura Económica 1974 - First Edition. Small quarto. Edition of 20,000 copies; despite the large limitation no copies are currently for sale on the public databases, nor have I seen the book before. Issued as part of the Testimonios del Fondo series, and featuring the unique design of Marcos Kurtycz, who was the series editor, and who took most of the photographs in this volume himself. Kurtycz framed his images in rounded squares and rectangles, with no two pages similar. He also eschewed yellow: the entire publication is printed in cyan and magenta. While conceptual artists have tried to make their books look like cheap tourist guides, there are fewer examples of cheap tourist guides rising to this level of design sophistication, if not exactly conceptual art. (The Latin American Photobook, 242-243). A few creases to the covers; close to near fine in photo-illustrated wrappers. [Attributes: First Edition]

THE RIFLE BRIGADE CHRONICLE 1919-1985 (Lacking 1939 and 1974)

      - All first editions, original green cloth, gilt emblem of regimental crest on each volume. A fascinating source of British military history, this run of annual reports illustrated with with photographs contains details of the Regiments activities across the world from the aftermath of the First World War in 1919, Ireland in early 20s and through to the Second World War and in the post war the Regiments involvement in Malaya, Cyprus, Kenya and finally the Falklands and back to Northern Ireland. The run is generally in very good condition. The exception is the volume for 1941 which has been damp damaged and the cover misshapen, although still quite readable. The volumes for 1940 and 1942 are slightly affected. Although the format for each year remains the same, and indeed the same format is used when the Rifle Brigade is amalgamated into The Royal Green Jackets in 1966, the publishers change and, with the 1920s and 30s volumes there some changes in cloth etc. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A LONG RUN AND HEAVY SO, IN PARTICULAR, IF ORDERING FROM OUTSIDE THE UK ASK FOR A QUOTE ON POST. 8.5 x 5.5 Inches [Attributes: Hard Cover]

The book appears unread and is near fine in full blue cloth-covered boards, with just a minute trace of edge-toning, minor corner-tapping, and a very light discoloration to the front board. Binding square and tight. The dust jacket -- now protected by a removable Brodart archival cover -- is about near fine, with only some minor edgewear, causing mild wear to the spine-ends and several small edge tears, all professionally repaired.         Original Poster: "Joe Levy, Multi Millionaire Property Developer [...] Whose Side Are The Police On?"

N.p, n.d. [London: All London Squatters, ca 1974?]. Poster calling attention to the plight of those evicted from the Camden Street Squat, formerly located at 220 Camden High Street. The owner of the building, Joseph Levy (1906-1990), was a wealthy London property developer whose company Stock Conversion helped rebuild the city during the 1950's-60's after WWII. In February 1974, Levy enlisted the help of 100 police officers to evict the occupants of the Camden Street Squat, had the building boarded and locked, leaving numerous families displaced. Levy was despised by the All London Squatters, the group behind Camden Street, and according to their meeting notes (see, plans were in motion to picket both his offices as well as the local courts, though they were ultimately unsuccessful in regaining entry into the squat. A rare poster, not listed in OCLC. Original silkscreened poster, printed in navy blue on yellow stock, measuring 52cm x 65cm (20.5" x 25 5/8"). Edgeworn and creased, with tears at the margins and shallow loss to three of four corners (none affecting image); Very Good.

Original campaign poster in favor of Ann Arbor charter amendment Section 16.2. In the wake of the infamous John Sinclair arrest (a ten year sentence for two joints) and the election of two Human Rights Party members to the city council, Ann Arbor passed an ordinance in 1972 making the possession of less than two ounces of marijuana a $5 fine. The state threatened to move state troopers into the city in order to enforce the stricter state laws. The city repealed the law in 1973. Voters mobilized on April 2, 1974 and passed an amendment to the city charter that reinstated the $5 fine and the law remains of the books to this day. .
