Minneapolis & Saint Paul: Ampersand Club, 1972. A collection of approximately 125 Ampersand Club invitations ranging in size from large folio to 16mo, all but a handful printed letterpress by such printers as: Jim Eckman, Norm Fritzberg, Phil Gallo, Allan Kornblum, Gerry Lange, Paul Maravelas, Russell Maret, Paulette Myers-Rich, Will Powers, Dave Rathman, Gaylord Schanilec, Wilbur "Chip" Schilling, Richard Stevens, Emily Mason Strayer, Michael Tarachow, Emerson Wulling, and certainly many others, inviting Ampersanders to talks, lectures, and/or hostings by: the Hon. Governor Elmer L. Andersen, Harriet Bart, Betty Bright, Clifford Burke, Greg Campbell, Steve Clay, Pat Coleman, Amanda Degener, Scott Helmes, Johathan E. Hill, Jerry Farrell, Maria Fredericks, Rosemary Furtak, Molly & John Harris, Michael Hancher, Bob Jackson, Gunnar Kaldewey, Daniel Kelm, Stuart Klipper, Abe Lerner, Harry Lerner, Austin McLean, Jack Parker, Robin Price, Maggie Ragnow, John & Rose Randle, Jeff Rathermel, Karen Runyon, Dale Schwie, Ken Storm, Jr., Claire Van Vliet, Jeff Weber, Jody Williams, as well as the aforementioned Gallo, Powers, Maravelas, Maret, Powers, Rathman, Schanilec, Schilling, and the rest of the gang. The Ampersand Club has a long tradition of providing letterpress invitations to its events which occur more or less monthly Spetember through April, and concluding with an annual dinner meeting in May. Tradition holds that printers print anonymously, so the names of presses and printers are not included in the invitation copy. Over the years Gallo has printed no fewer than 50 (a dozen or so are included here). In his notes for his own Hermetic Press archive Gallo notes: "The invitations tend toward the decorative, this most particularly with the early ones when there was a camraderie of competitiveness among the printers: Gerald Lange, Michael Tarachow, Norm Fritzberg, Allan Kornblum, and Gaylord Schanilec. Consequently these invitations display a wide range of handset foundry type faces, designed not only to be sparkling works, but to spark typographic conversations." While this collection is a long way from being complete, and many as yet undetermined as to printer or press, this offering of 125 is by far the largest group of such invitations ever to come on the market.

(VENTURI, ROBERT). Venturi, Robert, Denise Scott Brown & Steven Izenour. LEARNING FROM LAS VEGAS. Cambridge, MA: The MIT Press, 1972. First Edition. Folio. Cloth with Pastedown. Architecture Monograph. Very Good/No Jacket. 190pp, 182 color and 243 b&w illustrations. Designed by John Rauch. In a protective clear acetate dustwrapper. Published in 1972, "Learning from Las Vegas" firmly solidified Robert Venturi's place as one of the leading theoretical practitioners of the new wave of American architects. Authored in collaboration with his future partners Denise Scott Brown and Steven Izenour, and taking inspiration from Ed Ruscha's "Every Building on the Sunset Strip", the preface of what is perhaps the single most influential architectural text of the second half of the twentieth century states "The first part of this book is a description of our study of the architecture of the commercial strip. Part II is a generalizationon symbolism in architecture and the iconography of urban sprawl from our findings in Part I. Part III describes the work of Venturi and Rauch from 1965 to mid-1971, reflecting the theories of Part II". An internally exceptionally bright, most handsome example of the uncommon first MIT Press hardbound printing (featured on pages 36-39 of Jeffrey Brouws, Wendy Burton and Hermann Zschiegner's "Various Small Books: Referencing Various Small Books by Ed Ruscha") limited to two thousand unnumbered copies lacking the publisher's fragile printed vellum dust jacket whose gilt-stamped titles are still bright showing some mild external wear along with rubbing to the grey cloth of the rear cover. It has been priced accordingly.         Encyklopädie der technischen Chemie (Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry), 4. Aufl., 25 Bände, Halbleder-Ausgabe.

Weinheim/Bergstr., Verlag Chemie, 1972 - 1984. 4. neubearbeitete und erweiterte Auflage. Vollständiges Werk in 25 Bänden. Band 2: Verfahrenstechnik I (Grundoperationen). Band 3: Verfahrenstechnik II (Reaktionsapparate). Band 4: Verfahrensentwicklung Dokumentation. Band 5: Analysen- und Messverfahren. Band 6: Umweltschutz und Arbeitssicherheit. Band 7: Acaricide bis Antihistaminica. Band 8: Antimon bis Brot. Illustrated throughout in black-and-white, black endpapers, black cloth boards with white type, no dust jacket as issued, black cloth slipcase with black-and-white tipped in image with 1.5 cm superficial line abrasion at lower right, supplemental text booklet: white type on black paper, 30pp. “This coveted photobook has been published in three completely different versions. The most renowned edition was brought out in 1972 in Japan by Yugensha, Tokyo, the first of a trio of notable books in deluxe format designed by Kohei Sugiura and sponsored by Motomura. As a retropspective, however, The Lines of My Hand is as good as it gets. [The] diaristic, confessional mode of thie book is the ideal showcase. The Motomura edition of Lines is certainly one of the photobooks most sought by collectors. Indeed, it approaches the level of The Americans, both as a book and as a fitting memorial for a great photographic figure.” - From The Photobook: A History (Volume 1). 500 copies were produced with the photograph "New York City, 1948" on the slipcase, the other photograph used "Platte River, Tennessee".         Struttura colore n. 4.

Segue i corsi superiori all’Istituto magistrale a Trento.

The Second 43rd Australian Infantry Battalion, 1940-1946

Adelaide, Second 43rd Battalion AIF Club, 1972. Large octavo, xviii, 283 pages with 11 maps and diagrams plus 84 plates and endpaper charts. Synthetic cloth; edges very lightly foxed; essentially a fine copy with the dustwrapper slightly rubbed and bumped at the extremities. The tiny ownership label of the military book dealer Ken White is on the half-title. Loosely inserted is the original prospectus, minus the detachable order form; it states that the book will be published 'in a restricted edition'. We believe this to be not more than 600 copies; the infrequency with which it turns up certainly seconds this proposal. Trigellis-Smith 414.
