ANAKED, one: A personal statement on the subject of love, The Little Sand Crab

Privately Printed , 1972. Hardcover. Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Joseph J. D'Ambrosio. The wonderful piece of art is in an edition of 200 copies, this is #152. The book is set in 10pt. Century Schoolbook Bold and 12pt. Americana. It has 24 leaves consisting of art paper and id bound accordion-style: Yellow cloth over boards tied with green thread. Book is internally beautiful and binding is very fine. The book has 9 striking serigraphs each signed and numbered by D'Ambrosio. Anaked one is a two part story. The second story, part two, The Little Sand Crab starts on the last page of the first and cleverly the reader goes backwards through the book to complete the second story, which ends on the first page of the previous story. To quote the D'Ambrosio " In ANAKED, one, printed on the Adana press, I wrote two separate stories sandwiched between the beginning and the end of a third story. The word 'ANAKED is a composite of " ankh" and "naked," pronounced Ah-nah-ked. First, the reader finds the story of Anaked. The story is written in a manner which allows the reader to assume that it has ended. Then the second story. Emily and Oscar, appears. At the conclusion of Emily and Oscar, and the apparent end of the book, the reader finds on the very last page, the title page for yet another story, The Little Sand Crab. And since I bound the book in an accordion fashion, by continuing to turn the pages, the story unfolds." Readers had asked the author/artist for art to hand on their walls, all the serigraphs are tipped in with library tape for easy removal. Also included in this books one block print printed in orange ink. ANAKED one is one of Joe' most ambitious projects and is a must for D,Ambrosio collectors and collectors of very fine book art. The book is signed by D'Ambrosio and also inscribed to ...........

London: Rex Collings, 1972. Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. Signed By Author. 1st Edition. Near fine in a near fine unclipped dust jacket. Signed by the author on a paper pasted to the front end paper, below the words, "Yours sincerely,". This paper appears to have been cut out from a letter. The jacket has just the slightest bit of wear to the spine ends, a tiny closed tear (difficult to see) at the top of the front panel. A very nice copy..

Rochester: The Loft Press, Visual Studies Workshop, 1972. A little foxing to the front pastedown and end paper, else near fine in photo-illustrated wrappers; scarce.. First Edition. Quarto. One of apparently 35 copies (this copy unnumbered). Artist's book created by Visual Studies Press founder Joan Lyons along with Paul Stein, Lou Confessori, Carl Sesto, and others associated with the Visual Studies Workshop. The book contains 80 pages of colorful offset lithographs, printed single sided. Seemingly created using the generative potential of the press, the images cycle through a variety of photographic images, pattern overlays, and color combinations to create a series of psychedelic images.
