        I travestiti

Roma: Essedì Editrice, , 1972. Rilegato (hardback). Ottimo (Fine). 4. pp. 164. Ottimo (Fine). Prima edizione (First Edition).

An Original Script for “The Godfather”

Hollywood, California, March 15, 1972. 8.25" x 11.5". "Original mimeographed script labeled on brown cloth cover “Il Padrino / The Godfather,” 8.25” x 11.5” pages, in 9” x 13.5” heavy binder with marble boards on pastedowns and endpapers. Signed in in upper right of title page “David Hawkins / Rome.” A few pencil marks on random pages. Sound Editor David Hawkins is uncredited for his work on “The Godfather.” However, Hawkins is credited as Dialogue Editor in the Sound Department for Fellini’s 1976 film “Casanova” shot at Cinecittà Studios Rome, also used by Francis Ford Coppola for “The Godfather: Part III.”After Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) assassinated Virgil ""The Turk"" Sollozzo and Police Captain McCluskey in an Italian-American restaurant, he fled to Italy, where Hawkins worked in the Sound Department. The scenes shot in Italy, 26 pages in all, are on pages 6A/8 to 6B/11, 7A/1 to 7A/3, and 7B/7 to 7B/13.“The Godfather” is listed #3 behind “Citizen Kane” and “Casablanca” in the American Film Institute’s 100 Greatest American Movies of All Time. Listed #2 in AFI’s 100 Greatest Movie Quotes of All Time behind Clark Gable’s “Frankly my dear…” is Don Corleone (Marlon Brando) telling Johnny Fontaine “I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse” in “The Godfather.” Johnny wants the head of a studio to give him a major role in a movie he’s casting. This line is repeated by Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) twice in the film, once earlier to his wife, quoting his father to Johnny who wanted to get out of a singing contract with a big bandleader, the other time to his brother Fredo discussing Moe Greene selling his share of his Las Vegas hotel and the casino so that it can be completely owned by the Corleone family. Used in one of the greatest films ever made, this offer to sell this rare script is an offer you can't refuse. Marlon Brando's script once fetched $312,800 at auction. "

ohne Ort, New Directions Book, cop. 1972. Tennessee Williams (* 26. März 1911 in Columbus, Bundesstaat Mississippi - + 25. The Ballroom of Romance (Signed copy)

London: The Bodley Head, 1972. First edition, first printing hardback in dustwrapper. 20.5 × 13.5cm, 269pp. Signed directly to the title page by William Trevor. This is the Irish author's second collection of short stories. From the dustwrapper, "In the space of twelve stories we meet an apparently random sample of humanity, children and adults, rich and poor, single and married, straight and kinky, good-looking and ugly - in short, a streetful of passing faces. The art of William Trevor lies in revealing, beneath the intriguing variety, their, and our, common predicament: the search for the right balance netween love and illusion, daring and timidity. Tragically, or comically, sometimes both, the actors in most of these stories come either to grief or to terms with the laws of equilibrium. Some dance alone, others change partners, others waltz stiffly on in immutable couples. It depends on the colour of the lighting whether you see it as a ballroom of romance or a third-rate dance-hall." The stories are: 1. Access to the Children; 2. Nice Day at School; 3. The Ballroom of Romance; 4. The Forty-seventh Saturday; 5. A Happy Family; 6. Going Home; 7. An Evening with John Joe Dempsey; 8. The Mark-2 Wife; 9. The Grass Widows; 10. A Choice of Butchers;, 11. Kinkies; 12. O Fat White Woman. Condition: This copy is in very good condition. The dustwrapper is in a protective sleeve and has not been price-clipped (though a biro stroke is through the price). It has some very mild tanning to the extreme top edge but is otherwise in excellent condition. The book is in an equally good state, with clean pages and secure binding though there are a few speckles of foxing and light dusting to the top edge. There is one small scar to the top outer corner of the ffep where a price-sticker has been removed and there is a little ghosting to the cloth of the spine from the dustwrapper. Overall, a super copy. PLEASE SEE THE COX AND BUDGE WEBSITE FOR FURTHER DETAILS AND TO SEE OUR FULL RANGE OF BOOKS. MANY THANKS.. Signed by The Author. First Edition. Hardback. Very Good/Very Good.

Ciao! Manhattan (Original photograph from the 1971 film)

New York: Court Pictures, 1972. Black-and-white single weight reference photograph from the US release of the 1972 documentary film, struck circa 1979. Here Sedgwick shows a whimsical and characteristically sad smile while smoking a cigarette, with a blurred Allen Ginsberg in the foreground. A semi-autobiographical cinema verité documentary, scripted but with most of the actors playing themselves, made during the final five years of Sedgwick's life. The original Warhol superstar died in 1971, and importantly the documentary was shot just before (and edited just after) her death--in one sense exploitative, but in another sense fortunate in that the essence of her cultural effect, as well as her slow deterioration, was keenly retained. The documentary began shooting, reportedly in a drug and alcohol fueled haze both behind and in front of the camera, during Sedgwick's peak Factory years in 1967. She became increasingly unstable, and often completely absent, and shooting was soon suspended. Several years in and out of hospitals and institutions followed, and in 1970, residing on a ranch in Arcadia, California, with live-in care provided by John Palmer and his wife, Sedgwick became determined to finish the project, shooting more footage in a much reduced state, and recording hours of audio footage that would become the film's narrative voiceover. Filming wrapped in early 1971, and Sedgwick died in November of the same year from an overdose. The film was released in 1972 to much acclaim, only to disappear for nearly a decade. Interest in having it restored came with the publication of the Sedgwick biography by George Plimpton and Jean Stein published in 1982, and in 2002, 30 years after its original premiere, the new version screen at New York's Cinema Village. In October 2002, Plexifilm released a special edition DVD with additional 35mm outtake footage, rare pictures and interviews with the cast and crew of the film 8 x 10 inches (20 x 25 cm). Fine, archivally matted.

Studies and restorations at Persepolis and other sites of Fars. 2 volumes. Reports and memoirs. Istituto Italiano per il Medio ed Estremo Oriente, Centro Studi e Scavi Archeologici in Asia 16.

Rome : IsMEO, 1972. XVII, 416 S.; XV, 107 S. Private Kunstlederbände. Aus der Bibliothek von Prof. Dr. Wolfram Kleiss, langjährigem Leiter der Außenstelle Teheran des Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts. Ein gutes und sauberes Exemplar. - The volume, published in memory of Cyrus the Great, the founder of the Persian Empire, is the second in a series of publications which the Italian Institute of the Middle and Far East (IsMEO) intends to issue on the restoration of some of the historical monuments in Iran carried out by Italian experts under the direction of IsMEO and in close collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Art of Iran and the Iranian Archaeological Department. Like the first volume, Travaux de restauration de monuments historiques en Iran, which was edited by G. Zander and published in 1968, the present one is of a preliminary character, but unlike the former, which also included an account of the restoration of a group of Safavid monuments in Isphahan, this one deals only with the other group of monuments under restoration, namely the Achaemenian monuments in the Province of Fars.         Press Photos - Large Format of Fidel Castro Visiting in Berlin & Havana During Foundational Negotiations for Friendship & Cooperation Between German's Free Democratic Party (GDR) and the Cuban Republic

Berlin, 1972. Berlin: 1972; Cuba: 1974. Three (3) large print press photographs of Fidel Castro, two being taken in Berlin and one in Havana during foundational negotiations for friendship and cooperation between German's Free Democratic Party (GDR) and the Cuban Republic." Two photographs measure 40 x 29,5 cm, and one measures 23 x 14 cm. Very Good Condition, excellent, rare vintage colour photographs. These striking vintage photographs capture prominent Communist leader Fidel Castro gaining an important political alliance and eliciting foreign civilian support during his tours to East Germany in 1972 and 1974. One image shows him with Erich Honecker, General Secretary of Germany's Socialist Unity Party. The two very large photographs were taken in Berlin in 1972 as Fidel Castro was making a formal address and subsequently greeting the people. The smaller photograph, showing the collaboration, camaraderie and common ground between the German and Cuban Democrats, was taken on 22 February 1974 in Havana, Cuba, as detailed in the press printed caption to verso. Fidel Castro's first visit to Berlin began on June 13, 1972 and at various points addressed the border guards that policed the Berlin Wall to prevent East Germans from escaping to the West. At Brandenburg gate on June 14 in the afternoon he addressed the men charged with shooting East Germans fleeing to West Germany as "the courageous and self-denying border guards of the Free Democratic Party (GDR) People's Army who stand guard in the front line of the entire-socialist community." Later in the evening Premier Castro addressed the Nikolay Bezarin Barracks in East Berlin. He spent most of his visit accompanied by Erich Honecker, leader of the German Democratic Republic, who is seen in one of these photographs. In 1974, in Havana, Erich Honecker and Fidel Castro also signed an "agreement on cooperation between the German SED and the Cuban Communist Party for the years 1974-1975. Hans-Joachim Spremberg (1943-1978), commonly known as simply Joachim Spremberg, was a German photojournalist in East Germany. He was born in Berlin, and documented life in East Berlin, as well as the construction of the Berlin TV tower. He was selected as official photographer for several high state occasions with Free Democratic Party (GDR) Party, and also with communist politician Walter Ulbricht. and died in a helicopter crash at Wadi Suf al-Jin in Libya. Hans-Joachim Spremberg (* 8. Dezember 1943 in Berlin; - 6. . Very Good.

Handwritten postscript signed "Isaac" on someone else's letter

Middlebury College, Vermont 1972 - Iconic American author and biochemist best known for his works of Science Fiction and Popular Science. 2 pages, 11 x 8.5 inches, Middlebury College, Vermont, August 2, 1972. Written on a letter sent by his friend John Ciardi (1916 - 1986), acclaimed poet and etymologist, to his wife Janet Jeppson Asimov, whereby the poet jokingly compares Isaac's behavior at a Bird Watchers Conference to that of new species of a promiscuous bird, in part: ".It seems only fair to tell you that the Conference Bird Watchers Club has compiled a series of exhausted reports on the "Isaacanary" and concluded that you are an endangered species. The "Isaacanary" has taken (like the Cow Bird) to laying her eggs in the nests of other birds. I will not enclose the 42 petitions we have received from the ladies of the Conference. They are for the archives. I will satisfy myself here by pointing out that all of them begin with 'Help!' 'Mayday' or 'S.O.S.' I speak only out of disinterested concern for the good of the conference when I say you must never let this bird come to any Conference unattended. When you fly supervisory.he comes recommended and atoned for. When he is alone, every one spends all day picking egg yolk off the scalp. He has even flirted with me - mostly by way of practice, to be sure - and who can tolerate that when he could be flirting with you, and not for any damn practice? This here "Isaacanary," I assure you, is no substitute for the Love Bird." At some point John Ciardi requested that Isaac Asimov mail this letter to his wife Janet, of which he complied, but not before adding: "Dear Janet: Big John insists I mail this illiterate effusion. Please understand that when he says I 'lay eggs' he means I flirt and get nowhere. I am the laughing stock of the Conference." Horizontal folds; fine condition. [Attributes: Signed Copy]
