Liber Lucis.

London: Master Amado 777,, [c. 1972-73]. A new exposition of The Law of Thelema prepared according to the instructions of Master Therion, 666, and by his son here proclaimed Master Amado 777. 7 issues in 8 parts (all published), quarto. Original variously coloured and decorated printed wrappers, stapled as issued. Illustrations throughout. Ownership inscription (in red biro on preliminary blank in issue I) of a Malcolm Wallhead (who in the 70s designed a fibreglass igloo later used by the Australian Antarctic Division). A little rusting of staples otherwise in excellent condition. First and only edition of this xeroxed typescript periodical, "subsequent issues of these occasional papers will be of strictly limited edition" (publisher's note in Issue I). A very scarce complete set: Copac records only one location in British and Irish institutional libraries (a complete set at the Warburg Institute), OCLC adds two complete sets, at Harvard and, via the St Galler Bibliotheksnetz, at the Kantonsbibliothek Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Trogen, Switzerland. "Amado Crowley" was the pseudonym of Andrew Standish (1930-2010), who claimed to be the secret, illegitimate son of Aleister Crowley, although this has been universally dismissed by Crowley scholars. The Liber Lucis is a very 70s production, including pieces on "The Amethystine Cycle of Exercises" (yoga), astral projection, "sex magick", and rune casting. The Amado Crowley website is still up and running.

        Watership Down - Proof Copy

1st Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. We are delghted to present for sale one of the few proof copies ever produced of 'Watership Down'.Rex Collings (The publishers) sent around ten copies to London reviewers in 1972.The tiny publishers who, legend has it, could not afford to even pay Adams' advance, produced the proof in a hurry. This is evident given the fact that the title of the book is handwritten on to the spine of the blue proof cover. There is no record of another proof selling within the last ten years and no other copy is presently available for sale at the time of writing.Given the fact that the book has sold over 50 million copies worldwide, this copy is perhaps the first time this story appeared in print. The book itself is bound into pale blue plain paper covers, onto which has been handwritten the title, presumably by the publisher or the recipient. The BOOK is in Very Good sound condition, has clearly been read more than once, the page edges are a bit grubby and the page corners are no longer sharp. This is in effect the text block of the true UK first edition. There is no fold-out map at the rear as there is in the proper trade edition, nor it appears has there ever been one.The WRAPPER has clearly been with the book since new.It is the true first edition trade dust jacket (although the jacket is slightly longer than the book),in Very Good+ condition, with some wear to the folds and a couple of closed tears to the top of the spine where it has been handled carelessly, probably when removing it from a bookshelf. There is also a tiny piece missing to the right of the publisher's name, and the spine has faded a little also.A very scarce item and a must for any true Adams/Watership Down collector.

New York: Harper & Row, 1972. First edition. Octavo, original cloth. Signed and dated by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and additionally signed by the translator, Gregory Rabassa. Fine in a fine dust jacket without wear. La Hojarasca was first published in Bogota, Columbia in 1955, later translated into English and published in 1972, as The Leaf Storm. Widely celebrated as the first appearance of Macondo, the fictitious village later celebrated in One Hundred Years of Solitude, La Hojarosca was a testing ground for many of the themes and characters later immortalized in One Hundred Years of Solitude. "Garcia Marquez has extraordinary strength and firmness of imagination and writes with the calmness of a man who knows exactly what wonders he can perform" (Alfred Kazin, New York Times Book Review).

        Vecchia Trento.

1972 1972 - Litografia originale impressa in seppia su carta Arches, siglata E.A. (épreuve d'Artist) all'angolo inferiore sinistro e firmata a matita dall'artista in basso a destra. 0

Autograph Manuscript of his review of Edith Wharton's autobiography (A Backward Glance), entitled "A Fiend for Destiny"

[Northampton, Mass 1972 - 3-1/2 pp. 1 vols. 4to. Pritchett on Wharton: ".the accountant-historian of the smart set ." A sharp, brilliant, and often funny sketch of Wharton and her set and her art, published in the New Statesman, 22 December 1972. Pritchett does not wonder that Wharton's autobiography was not accepted by English publishers in 1937 ("The dropped names lie like anonymous confetti on the pavement no longer clean."); he acknowledges that the book however has some merit when her best three books are re-examined -- Ethan Frome, The House of Mirth, and The Age of Innocence (".excellent works of knuckle-rapping second rank"), and he wonders how "a woman so well off and who hardly ever met people who were not, a woman so restlessly and exclusively mondaine, manage to become an artist?." With some very funny passing remarks on Henry James as well. With numerous deletions and corrections; small chip from top of first page, else very good; accompanied by a retained copy of the typescript (also with a few corrections), with his name and address typed at the upper right corner

Glyptique susienne des origines à l\'époque des Perses achéménides. 2 volumes (Texte/Planches).
