William Blake
London: Printed at the Trianon Press for the Trustees of the William, 1969. Condition: ___ Volume is in fine condition, with clean covers that have a hint of sun-toning to backstrip, internally bright and free of prior owner markings, text block is tight and square, corners are mostly straight, with the top corners slightly bumped; slipcase is near fine with some minor rubbing to head and tail (slightly bumped at tail); overall very clean, a fine example. Number 313 of 480, folio size, unpaginated [17 plates and 6 pp. of commentary]. "Europe, A Prophecy" was printed in Lambeth before and during 1795, and is one of Blake's prophetic books, part of the expansive world mythology Blake envisioned, that included Creation and the first eighteen centuries of the Christian era. Though written later, it includes an early portion of that mythos which was first presented in "America". "Europe" contains one of Blake's most well known illustrations, known as "The Ancient of Days" depicting Urizen, the creator/God figure, drawing the first circle of the earth with a golden compass. William Blake (1757 - 1827) is arguably the most original and highly-regarded English author - unusual in that he excelled both as an author and an artist. Although thought mad by his contemporaries, he was held in high regard for his expressiveness and for the synthesis of philosophical and mystical senses within his work. Blake's work has been spectacularly reproduced through the pochoir technique by Arnold Fawkus and his Trianon Press, which has an undeniable claim to being the finest press of its kind in t … [Click Below for Full Description]

Angus MacLise
NY: George Maciunas, 1969. Condition: Very Good. 20.5 x 23.5 inches. Black calligraphy printed on white stock, folded as issued. Some tanning to paper, else a very good example. Similar to MacLise's renaming of the days in the earlier 'Year' , 'The Universal Solar Calendar' renames the days of the year, but in this format prints the phrases in his characteristic calligraphic hand, producing a full artwork that actually seems to take itself a bit more seriously than most of the multiples produced by Macianus at the time. Fluxus Codex page 398. OCLC locates only one example, included in the Angus MacLise papers held by Columbia University.

[Hawaii, 1969]. Archive of papers, brochures, maps, booklets, etc. and related ephemera. 70 items in all. Very good to near fine. An interesting comprehensive collection of seventy items of vacation travel brochures, maps, guidebooks, menus, and related ephemera; all kept by a family of four traveling in Hawaii and on their sail home back to the continental United States. The archive is a veritable "snapshot" of tourist life in 1969 Hawaii beginning with the family's complete travel itinerary while in Hawaii. Next are found resort brochures to such hotels as The Waikikian, the Halekulani, and the Mauna Kea Beach-Hotel. There are tourist maps of Maui including a sightseeing map, a map of the grounds of the Coco Palms resort hotel on Kauai, a gas station road map of Hawaii, and even a map of Hawaii Volcanoe's National Park printed on a napkin. Also found is a souvenir booklet from the Mormon-sponsored Polynesian Cultural Center entitled Polynesia in A Day! by David W. Cummings. Additionally, there are museum brochures, various tourist guide books, cruise-line brochures, a Hawaiian Airlines timetable, a combination car rental/bus tour/fishing charter brochure, a ship deck plan, and a Hawaiian song booklet. Ephemeral items include a few souvenir postcards, cocktail menus, cocktail napkins, samples of stationery from various hotels, cruise ship daily newsletters from the Matson Lines S.S. Bernarda SHAHN
Condition: In fine condition, as made. [Roosevelt, NJ: ca 1969-70]. Octavo (23.5cm). Red paper-covered boards; [28]pp. Original hand-made "dummy" of 28 pages, with text and illustrations tipped on to blank pages. Includes a hand-lettered title page and 26 original pencil drawings by Bernarda Shahn, illustrating the (mostly) animal characters in the text. The published book was issued by Holt, Rinehart and Winston in 1970. An enigmatic folktale in which a fox and a horse, each starving to death, must decide among themselves which one is to die. Shahn's animal illustrations are lively and accurate throughout. This is presumably an unused trial version, as an ink note to the front cover states "do not use this dummy." Carl Withers was the author of the well-known 1948 poetry anthology A Rocket in My Pocket. Bernarda Bryson's 1963 book The Sun Is A Golden Earring was a Caldecott medalist.
