Bobby Fischer
New York: Simon and Schuster, 1969. Condition: Near Fine / Very Good +. Signed. ****AN EXTRAORDINARY PIECE OF CHESS HISTORY**** AND ONE OF THE TOWERING ASSOCIATION COPIES IN THE GAME'S VAST LITERATURE. WARMLY inscribed (in itself very unusual) by the newly-minted World Champion to William Lombardy, Bobby Fischer's "second" at Reyjavik and the man widely credited with convincing an overwrought Fischer to move forward and play the match. As with most of Fischer's relationships, his friendship with Lombardy was complicated and experienced many highs and lows. But the fact remains that Lombardy played a major role as coach and mentor in Fischer's development as a world-class player and provided much-needed stability during Bobby's early years. Fully aware of Fischer's tight-fisted ways, Lombardy was understandably looking for compensation for the time and toil he had invested in the Fischer-Spassky match and he set his sights on this historic copy of "My 60 Memorable Games". By making sure that he could secure Bobby's very first signature as World Champion --and in an expressive, personalized inscription no less-- he understood that he would own a piece of chess immortality, a physcial talisman for the ages. To further mark the significance of the signing, Lombardy verified in his own hand that this indeed was Fischer's first signature as World Champion and he even had Saemi Palsson (Fischer's bodyguard and the Chief of the Reyjavik Police Department) sign this copy as well as a witness to history. On top of the remarkable history attached to it, this copy is also a very solid … [Click Below for Full Description]

Weingartner Liederhandschrift
Stuttgart, Müller und Schindler, 1969. Condition: Gut. Frank, Robert, Jack Kerouac
Aperture, New York, 1969. Revised and enlarged edition. Frank's kaleidoscopic photo-essay of the country. Men in FDR hats, a black nurse with a white baby, an abandoned gas station, a blurry starlet in front of her in-focus fans. With accounts at the end of Frank's experiments in film, including his last, with Sam Shepard. Very good, with a slightly grubby and chipped dust-wrapper (as so often). Signed by Shepard on the final page of text (the description of his collaboration). As copies of the first edition become astronomical, this enlarged edition becomes more desirable. Lennon, John; Yoko Ono
Look Magazine. Vintage photograph from 1969 featuring Yoko Ono and John Lennon in their Beverly Hills kitchen. John displays a tea towel with puppies on it, while Yoko makes veggie patties. "Look" magazine rubber stamp, date stamp, and a stamp illustrating the photograph's appearance in "People" magazine to the verso, alongside a small tipped-in magazine clipping describing the photograph's contents. Taken during a period of rapid change in Lennon's life, only five months before he would officially leave the Beatles and only two months after he and Ono were married. Though their relationship is seen by many to have spurred the band's breakup, internal struggles between the Beatles began in earnest after their manager Brian Epstein's death in 1967. Lennon and Ono would continue to create art and music both individually and as a pair, moving to New York in 1971 and going on to have a son named Sean. 8 x 10 inches (20.5 x 25.5 cm). Very Good plus, with lightly bumped corners and a couple of edge creases.

1969. Hardcover. Near Fine. Oblong small quarto. Measuring 11" x 7". Screw-bound green cloth boards with "The Dating Game 1969" on a Dymo-style embossed plastic label on front board. 16 glossy candid photographs, probably prepared by a photographer for the show. Each is 7" x 5" and in black and white. A little rubbing on the front board, near fine; the images are fine. The album, presumably prepared for one of the two winning contestants, shows an attractive young couple in 1969 Mod-style clothing on their "Dream Date." They are seen in the cockpit of, and disembarking, from a Western Airlines plane, awaiting a bus with a mountain of ski equipment, in a snow-covered chalet, on a toboggan together, with a snowman, on a ski lift together, skiing, dancing (the Frug, we think), and also in more temperate climes on a boat, and at what is probably Sea World, as well as three additional images of the two daters and their chaperone with someone, possibly the host, who is presenting them with gifts. *The Dating Game* functioned as a petri dish for aspiring actors and actresses, with attractive young people vying for face time on national television. Such unknowns as Farrah Fawcett, Suzanne Somers, Lindsay Wagner, Tom Selleck, John Ritter, Lee Majors, and many others appeared on the show before they achieved fame. Reportedly all but a few episodes of this earliest version of the show (it was revived several times in the 1980s and 90s) were erased after they were aired. An interesting insight into an iconic '60s game show dealing with romance.

Webb, Jack (director, starring); Jack Barrett (screenwriter);
National Broadcasting Company [NBC], 1969. Three scripts from the seminal police procedural television program, from its colorful, pop culture-infused revival made between 1967-1970, starring Jack Webb and Henry Morgan, along with a relentless cast of hippies, druggies, bad parents, priests, and a host of substantially less hip, efficient, and often troubled men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department. The collection includes: "Burglary Auto: Courtroom": Revised Draft script for Season Four, episode nine, which originally aired on November 20, 1969. With a holograph ink notation on the front wrapper referring to LAPD Sergeant Dan Cooke, who was the department's liaison to the show. First edition with these illustrations, limited to 200, of which 100 were for sale, folio size, approx. forty-one unnumbered leaves and a suite of ten etchings, inscribed by Leonard Baskin. The Gehenna Press was founded by Leonard Baskin (1922-2000) in 1942, while he was studying at Yale University; Baskin was a sculptor, printmaker, illustrator, wood engraver, book artist, writer and teacher, and his work is often compared to William Blake, who was also interested in being author, artist, and printer of his work. The Press closed after Baskin's death in 2000, and books printed by the Gehenna Press are highly coveted, particularly those accompanied by Baskin's unique illustrations. Some of its best known works are Sylvia Plath's "The Colossus and Other Poems" and "Crow" by Ted Hughes. Angus MacLise
NY: George Maciunas, 1969. Condition: Very Good. 20.5 x 23.5 inches. Black calligraphy printed on white stock, folded as issued. Some tanning to paper, else a very good example. Similar to MacLise's renaming of the days in the earlier 'Year' , 'The Universal Solar Calendar' renames the days of the year, but in this format prints the phrases in his characteristic calligraphic hand, producing a full artwork that actually seems to take itself a bit more seriously than most of the multiples produced by Macianus at the time. Fluxus Codex page 398. OCLC locates only one example, included in the Angus MacLise papers held by Columbia University.

Sailor, Wayne; Berkowitz, Bill; Langsdorf, Dick; Rood, Mick (Editors)
Lawrence, Kansas: Reconstruction Press, Inc., 1969-1970. Wraps. 17" X 11 1/4". Newsprint, folded, 12-24pp each. Age-toning at edges, with occasional dampstaining, light soiling, creasing, and chipping and tearing at edges and extremities. This item is oversize and will require additional postage for international or priority orders. A solid run of the first 34 issues of Vortex (née Reconstruction, Vortex arose after a merge with the Kansas City-based Screw), the radical underground newspaper of Lawrence, Kansas. Over just a few years, Vortex covered the budding Vietnam War protest movement, the Civil Rights Movement, police brutality and corruption, New Left politics, and the music, literature, art, and lifestyle of the counterculture movement. Frequently running into the law and even watched by the FBI, Vortex's humor didn't soften headlines like "Lawrence Courts Rape Blacks" or the diagram of a molotov cocktail in the second issue of Reconstruction. This set of 34 issues includes the following: Reconstruction: Vol. 1, No. 1, Issue 1, Feb. 10-24, 1969 (soiling to covers). Vol. 1, No. 2, Issue 2, March 3-17, 1969. Vol. 1, Issue 2 [Issue 3], March 18-31, 1969 (inked marks to margins of covers). Vol. 1, Number 4, April 9-23, 1969 (6" tear along fold at cover). Vol. 1, No. 5, April 21-38, 1969. Anthony, Piers
1969. Geis was a prolific writer of soft-core pornographic novels, which for many years was his main source of income. As a hobby, he published several fanzines, the best-known of which was Science Fiction Review (SFR). According to the Fancyclopedia 3, Geis's various fanzines were among the most influential in science fiction in the 1960s and 1970s. Geis was nominated for 30 Hugos in the fanzine category and won thirteen. This archive consists of 19 typed notes and letters, signed (TNS and TLS), and 6 typescripts by Anthony, plus 10 carbons of letters from Geis to Anthony. Most of Anthony's letters are densely typed, with narrow margins. The paper is often low quality and tanned. All items are ribbon copies, unless noted. Many of the letters have lines in the margin made by Geis, perhaps for editorial purposes. Many of the letters were written as Letters of Comment (LoC), intended for publication. The archive consists of: 1) July 8, 1969. 5 pp. TLC, written as an LoC, a wide-ranging commentary on science fiction novels and publishing. In it, Anthony describes himself as "one of the youngest and turkiest of the young turks." 2) December 20, 1969. 4 pp. TLS LoC. 3) February 10, 1970. 2 pp. TLS Chatty letter mentioning a dispute with Ballantine Books. 4) April 12, 1970. 2 pp TLS on one sheet. About sending Anthony's archive to Syracuse University. 5) May 31, 1970. 2 pp. TLS on one sheet. Chatty letter on books and science fiction gossip. 6) July 2, 1970. 3 pp. TLS LoC complaining about a bad review of Anthony's novel Macroscope in SFR. 7) October 18 … [Click Below for Full Description]

Fluxus - Maciunas, George
New York: Privately Printed, 1969. Single sheet, double-sided printed poster. Measures 17 x 22" long. According to information from the Silverman archive, "Flux Fest Kit 2 was the second collection of Fluxus scores and festival information. The first was Fluxfest Sale. More than a lecture bureau's guide to Fluxus, anyone could use it to put on their own Fluxfest, and, if funds were available, order objects, buy films, rent a fluxorchestra, or even hire Fluxus artists to perform. Some of the scores reproduced are complete, others are abbreviated descriptions of scores." Some of the many particpants in this series of events included George BRecht, George Maciunas, Bici Hendricks and others. Condition of this rare poster is very good with a few small tears at folds. William Blake
London: Printed at the Trianon Press for the Trustees of the William, 1969. Condition: ___ Volume is in fine condition, with clean covers that have a hint of sun-toning to backstrip, internally bright and free of prior owner markings, text block is tight and square, corners are mostly straight, with the top corners slightly bumped; slipcase is near fine with some minor rubbing to head and tail (slightly bumped at tail); overall very clean, a fine example. Number 313 of 480, folio size, unpaginated [17 plates and 6 pp. of commentary]. "Europe, A Prophecy" was printed in Lambeth before and during 1795, and is one of Blake's prophetic books, part of the expansive world mythology Blake envisioned, that included Creation and the first eighteen centuries of the Christian era. Though written later, it includes an early portion of that mythos which was first presented in "America". "Europe" contains one of Blake's most well known illustrations, known as "The Ancient of Days" depicting Urizen, the creator/God figure, drawing the first circle of the earth with a golden compass. William Blake (1757 - 1827) is arguably the most original and highly-regarded English author - unusual in that he excelled both as an author and an artist. Although thought mad by his contemporaries, he was held in high regard for his expressiveness and for the synthesis of philosophical and mystical senses within his work. Blake's work has been spectacularly reproduced through the pochoir technique by Arnold Fawkus and his Trianon Press, which has an undeniable claim to being the finest press of its kind in t … [Click Below for Full Description]
