BOLAN, Marc.
Glam Rock Poetry.BOLAN, Marc. The Warlock of Love. Lupus Music, 1969.8vo. Original decorative paper-covered boards, with dustwrapper; pp. 63; slightly rubbed to extremities, internally very clean and bright, very good. Provenance: ffep inscribed by Marc Bolan "Deepest love/ Marc Bolan/ x", with ownership signature of Jeannette Montgomery above.First edition. Scarce.Heavily inspired by Tolkien, this book of poetry was issued before Bolan hit international superstardom with T. Rex. Nevertheless, he was a big enough domestic star to sell 40,000 copies of this book, which was quickly reprinted and became Britain's biggest selling volume of poetry of the year. There is a nod to his band in the very last lines of the last poem in the book : "And now where once stood solid water/ stood the reptile king,/ Tyrannosaurus Rex, reborn and bopping". This may be the first time a dinosaur has ever been described in such rock'n'roll terms.#2102373

Tokyo: Shaken, 1969. Condition: Light crease to the bottom edge of the front cover, a small internal crease near the spine heel, three small tape shadows on the inner front cover, still close to near fine in photo-illustrated wrappers. First Edition. Oblong quarto. Tomatsu's most political book, with the famous, searing image of a missile launching sandwiched between graphic slogans demanding the end to American occupation of the island. Like most of Tomatsu's books, Okinawa is difficult to categorize. It borrows stylistically from the Provoke school while never losing its focus as a social documentary, yet it would be overly simplistic to lump it in with other Japanese protest books, even those about Okinawa. 10.21 Publishing committee, Tokyo, 1969. 8vo, Unpaginated (ca 96pp). Printed wraps. Numerous Black & White plates. Text in Japanese. A little rubbed, with some loss to spine. Student created book documenting protests and rallies during 1967 and 1968 and taking it's name from Anti Vietnam protests on 21st October 1966. The book serves as an accidental provoke classic. Almost all of the photographs were taken by the students themselves, often at night, and in difficult circumstances, meaning the aesthetic of 'are, bure, boke' is omnipresent. To avoid legal complications there are no credits and no faces are clearly shown, and a handy reference is present at the rear of the book detailing which protests took place where and when. The book is almost an object of found photography, were it not for it's strong political purpose. Possible one of the most poignant protests books to emerge from Japan. MALRAUX André (BEJART Maurice)
MALRAUX André (BEJART Maurice), 1969. Letter typed and signed from Andre Malraux to Maurice Bejart. One leaf headed by the Ministre d'Etat charge des Affaires Culturelles (Ministry of Culture), bearing a stamp from 29 January 1969.Andre Malraux hopes to place choreographer Maurice Bejart in charge of the Ballet de l'Opera in Paris.Bejart was at the time very well established in Brussels, as part of his troop Ballet du XXe siecle, performing at the Theâtre de la Monnaie, led by his friend Maurice Huismans. Following a report by Jean Vilar to reform the Opera in Paris, Malraux takes the decision to call Bejart back to France: "J'aimerais que nous puissions nous rencontrer pour parler d'un projet que vous connaissez dejà et auquel j'attache une grande importance : la Direction de la Danse à l'Opera" "I would like us to be able to meet to talk about a project that you already know and to which I attach a great significance: the Management of Dance at the Opera." Malraux's idea was to name Boulez and Jean Vilar alongside him, thus forming a solid avant-garde, resolutely oriented towards the future of the arts. The choreographer declined the offer and continued his creations in Belgium. He becomes no less an admirer of Malraux to whom he will dedicate, fifteen years later, a ballet using Beethoven's music, which he entitled "Malraux ou la metamorphose des dieux." This letter is the only testimony existing to Malraux's request to the choreographer, which remained controversial. This nomination was not accepted by Bejart, who stayed in Belgium for ten years before heading to Lausan … [Click Below for Full Description]

An extremely rare collection of thoughts, questions and introspections from the point of view of Hinduism and Buddhist wisdom, which Bejart adopts following his first trip to India in 1967.The diary is an emblematic testimony of the indo-hippie era of the 1960s, spiritual and artistic renaissance that inspired numerous ballets of the choreographer (Messe pour le temps present, Bhakti, Les Vainqueurs).A selection from this diary was published by Maurice Bejart in the second volume of his memoirs (La Vie de Qui ? Flammarion, 1996).During the year 1969, Bejart wrote daily notes in a diary published in memory of Mahatma Gandhi. Fascinated by Hindu mysticism since his trip to India in 1967, he filled in this spiritual journal with numerous mantras and prayers ("Krishna guide my chariot, the light is at the end of the path. OM"; "Buddha is everywhere"; "Let God enter, but how to open the door?") and he calls upon the Hindu deities as well as the Bodhisattvas Mañju?r? et T?r? - soothing figures of the Buddhi … [Click Below for Full Description]

Kurt Vonnegut
Delacorte Press, New York, 1969. First Edition, First Printing of the author's masterpiece. Signed by Kurt Vonnegut directly on the half-title page. Loosely laid in is a cutout from the return mailer bearing Vonnegut's handwritten return address in NYC. Fine in a near fine dust jacket in archival protective cover. Arguably Vonnegut's most famous and influential novel. It was nominated for both the Nebula and the Hugo Awards, in science fiction. Nonetheless, as a loser, it still made both the Modern Library and the Time Magazine lists for the best English-language novels written in the 20th century. "Slaughterhouse-Five, perhaps Vonnegut's most powerful novel, presents two characters who can see beneath the surface to the tragic realities of human history but make no attempt to bring about change. The central event is the destruction of Dresden by bombs and fire storm--a catastrophe that Vonnegut himself witnessed as a prisoner of war". "Kurt Vonnegut knows all the tricks of the writing game. So he has not even tried to describe the bombing. Instead he has written around it in a highly imaginative, often funny, nearly psychedelic story. The story is sandwiched between an autobiographical introduction and epilogue" (The New York Times). [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; In Dust Jacket]
