BEJART Maurice
- figures a … [Click Below for Full Description]

[Click Below for Full Description]

Kiss was an adult magazine founded in 1969 by Joel Fabricant, Dean Latimer and Peter Mikalajunas, who had all worked at The East Village Other [EVO], the newspaper described by the New York Times as "so countercultural that it made The Village Voice look like a church circular." Joel Frabricant was a central figure of underground publishing in New York, and along with EVO and Kiss, published Gay Power and Aquarian Agent. Published weekly, Kiss was the most successful of several spinoffs of East Village Other, and often featured work by talented and influential countercultural figures including cartoonists R. Crumb and Kim Deitch, and filmmaker Kenneth Anger. As a sex paper, the content is heavy on nude photos, erotic fiction, and irreverent sexual columns. Regular columns included "Wet Dreams," "Doctor Hip-pocrates," and "Inter/course"-a spoof of Andy Warhol's "Interview" magazine. The magazine ran for one year, its last issue published in 1970. Bobby Fischer
New York: Simon and Schuster. Condition: Near Fine / Very Good +. Signed. ****AN EXTRAORDINARY PIECE OF CHESS HISTORY**** AND ONE OF THE TOWERING ASSOCIATION COPIES IN THE GAME'S VAST LITERATURE. WARMLY inscribed (in itself very unusual) by the newly-minted World Champion to William Lombardy, Bobby Fischer's "second" at Reyjavik and the man widely credited with convincing an overwrought Fischer to move forward and play the match. As with most of Fischer's relationships, his friendship with Lombardy was complicated and experienced many highs and lows. But the fact remains that Lombardy played a major role as coach and mentor in Fischer's development as a world-class player and provided much-needed stability during Bobby's early years. Fully aware of Fischer's tight-fisted ways, Lombardy was understandably looking for compensation for the time and toil he had invested in the Fischer-Spassky match and he set his sights on this historic copy of "My 60 Memorable Games". By making sure that he could secure Bobby's very first signature as World Champion --and in an expressive, personalized inscription no less-- he understood that he would own a piece of chess immortality, a physcial talisman for the ages. To further mark the significance of the signing, Lombardy verified in his own hand that this indeed was Fischer's first signature as World Champion and he even had Saemi Palsson (Fischer's bodyguard and the Chief of the Reyjavik Police Department) sign this copy as well as a witness to history. On top of the remarkable history attached to it, this copy is also a very solid exampl … [Click Below for Full Description]

Anthony, Piers
1969-1973. Ephemera Ephemera. Very Good. Geis was a prolific writer of soft-core pornographic novels, which for many years was his main source of income. As a hobby, he published several fanzines, the best-known of which was Science Fiction Review (SFR). According to the Fancyclopedia 3, Geis's various fanzines were among the most influential in science fiction in the 1960s and 1970s. Geis was nominated for 30 Hugos in the fanzine category and won thirteen. *** This archive consists of 19 typed notes and letters, signed (TNS and TLS), and 6 typescripts by Anthony, plus 10 carbons of letters from Geis to Anthony. Most of Anthony's letters are densely typed, with narrow margins. The paper is often low quality and tanned. All items are ribbon copies, unless noted. Many of the letters have lines in the margin made by Geis, perhaps for editorial purposes. Many of the letters were written as Letters of Comment (LoC), intended for publication. *** The archive consists of: *** 1) July 8, 1969. 5 pp. TLC, written as an LoC, a wide-ranging commentary on science fiction novels and publishing. In it, Anthony describes himself as 'one of the youngest and turkiest of the young turks.' *** 2) December 20, 1969. 4 pp. TLS LoC. *** 3) February 10, 1970. 2 pp. TLS Chatty letter mentioning a dispute with Ballantine Books. *** 4) April 12, 1970. 2 pp TLS on one sheet. [ART] BRAINARD, Joe
John Ashbery wrote in an Art News review of Brainard's third solo exhibition at the Landau-Alan Gallery (March 22-April 17, 1969): "Joe Brainard reminds one of Proust's gallant remark to the painter Madeleine Lemaire that she had created more roses than anyone after God. Brainard gives both a run for their money, if not with roses then with pansies, and with tulips and poppies tied for second place, row upon row of garden-variety flowers painted with meticulous deftness... The effect is always of profusion and of strangeness beyond that. What is a flower, one begins to wonder? A beautiful, living thing that at first seems to promise meaning...but remains meaningless. Here they merely continue, each as beautiful as the others, but only beautiful, with nothing behind it, and yet... The unfinished clause secretly binds the work together and raises it above a high level of provocation." All of the paintings but one are framed and glazed and they are in fine condition. Provenance: Felix Landau Gallery, Private Collection (Los Angeles). Exhibited at Tibor de Nagy Gallery, NY, 2011. All of the paintings but one are framed and glazed and they are in fine condition. Condition: Good. This is an amazing book I will be gutted to lose but I need to raise funds. This is a first edition from 1969, 14th impression. Book is in a very good condition for its age. Some minor discolouring but no damage. The dust jacket has seen better days but looks ok. There is a rip in it but this has been taped on the reverse and is well hidden. See the pics for the quality. As for the signing, it's to Mr Puzo's doctor and is quite a personal inscription that is very rarely seen. The inscription goes: "For Dr Collete Schlager. Who always reassures me that I will be a young man again if I stay on my diet. I am waiting patiently. I hope you like the book. Best regards, Mario Puzo" This is a genuine collectors item. A first printing of this is currently on sale for £11,000. Serious buyers only please. [Attributes: Signed Copy]

DAVID BEN-GURION.Autograph Letter Signed, to Avraham Zvion, December 26, 1969. 2 pp. in Hebrew, on off-white faintly-lined sheets 4⅞ x 8⅜ in. Translation 26.12.69Sde-BokerDear Zvion, I'm sorry for writing you things that until recently I hadn't realized that I would be required to. That's because I have admired all these years the work you've done for the Midrasha. However, your actions following our conversation, when we both agreed after a long discussion, that you won't be leaving the school's management right now but only at the end of this year, and meanwhile you'll assist the new person that will be assigned here to prepare the new education program for the Midrasha - initial university studies. You will then take two years off as education leave, and afterwards will retrieve the management of the Midrasha. I wouldn't have believed anyone that you are capable and ready to do this, an action that in my opinion may bring the destruction of the Midrasha in Sde-Boker. But I have had meetings. Several female students, that have recently graduated the teacher seminar in the Midrasha, and now became fresh teachers all over the country, came to me to voice support for your claims. I heard these claims with a great sorrow, not because I didn't like it, since I'm capable of hearing claims I dislike. I was upset because those claims came from you. You invited me to Even-Ari in Avdat, and I enjoyed your invitation, since I heard interesting things … [Click Below for Full Description]
