UK: 1969. Condition: Like New. As new. Note that I am on holiday till June 16th A vivid portrait of the English singer-songwriter and musician Nick Drake Nicholas Rodney "Nick" Drake was an English singer-songwriter and musician, known for his acoustic guitar-based songs. Drake released only three complete albums -- Five Leaves Left (1969), Bryter Layter (1970), Pink Moon (1972) -- and was not well known before his death in 1974. Yet he gained a massive posthumous following, inspiring leading musicians such as R.E.M.'s Peter Buck and Robert Smith of The Cure and bands such as Coldplay and The Black Crowes. Forty years after Nick's death, Remembered for a While peels back some of the mystery surrounding his life. The book features gorgeous colour photographs, as well as original letters and interviews with family and friends. As Nick's sister writes in the introduction, Remembered for a While will reveal "the poet, the musician, the friend, the son, the brother, who was also more than all of these together, and as indefinable as the morning mist." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbxG3p_pDpY At long last, Remembered for a While paints a portrait of a visionary musician who inspired a fanatical following and whose legacy continues to inspire future generations of musicians -- and the lives of his fans.

Jack Kerouac And Robert Frank
New York: Grossman, 1969. Super RARE! Beautiful book!!! The Americans Photographs by Robert Frank Introduction by Jack Kerouac Revised and enlarged edition, first printing 1969 New York, NY: Grossman Publishers / Aperture, 1969. Revised and Enlarged Edition . Hardcover with dust jacket! Excellent condition for 50 years!!! "The Americans, by Robert Frank, was a highly influential book in post-war American photography. It was first published in France in 1958, and the following year in the United States. The photographs were notable for their distanced view of both high and low strata of American society. The book as a whole created a complicated portrait of the period that was viewed as skeptical of contemporary values and evocative of ubiquitous loneliness. "Frank set out with his Guggenheim Grant to do something new and unconstrained by commercial diktats" and made "a now classic photography book in the iconoclastic spirit of the Beats". Sue Grafton
Peter Owen, 1969. Very good condition in acceptable dust jacket. Signed by author. The Lolly-Madonna War by Sue Grafton. Published by Peter Owen in 1969. This is a first edition hardcover book with dust jacket and measures about 7 1/2" x 5" with 189 pages. First British Commonwealth Edition is stated on the copyright page and the original price of 35s is on the dust jacket flap, which for this publisher means it is a first edition. This is the second book written by Sue Grafton and was made into a movie. It's also by far the rarest of any of her books. The book is in VERY GOOD condition. The orange cover has very little wear, the binding is tight, and the pages are in excellent shape except the first blank page has the top right torn off, probably where there was a prior owner's name. The dust jacket is in ACCEPTABLE condition with wear and a torn piece on the top front and another in the middle on the back. The title page has been signed with a Sharpie by the author. We acquired this book from the person that had it signed. Thanks for looking! We ship all orders within 1 business day of payment. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; In Dust Jacket]

Roth, Philip
Random House, New York, 1969. First edition of Roth's breakthrough novel. Octavo, original blue cloth, red topstain. Boldly signed by Philip Roth on the title page. Fine in a near fine dust jacket. Jacket design by Paul Bacon. Along with Saul Bellow's Herzog, Philip Roth's Portnoy's Complaint defined Jewish American literature in the 1960s. Roth's masterpiece takes place on the couch of a psychoanalyst, an appropriate jumping-off place for an insanely comical novel about the Jewish American experience. Roth has written several great books--Goodbye, Columbus and When She Was Good among them, but it is perhaps Portnoy's Complaint for which he is best known. "Philip Roth has the fineset eye for the details of American life since Sinclair Lewis" (Stanley Edgar Hyman). [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]

Kurt Vonnegut
Delacorte Press, New York, 1969. First Edition, First Printing of the author's masterpiece. Signed by Kurt Vonnegut directly on the half-title page. Loosely laid in is a cutout from the return mailer bearing Vonnegut's handwritten return address in NYC. Fine in a near fine dust jacket in archival protective cover. Arguably Vonnegut's most famous and influential novel. It was nominated for both the Nebula and the Hugo Awards, in science fiction. Nonetheless, as a loser, it still made both the Modern Library and the Time Magazine lists for the best English-language novels written in the 20th century. "Slaughterhouse-Five, perhaps Vonnegut's most powerful novel, presents two characters who can see beneath the surface to the tragic realities of human history but make no attempt to bring about change. The central event is the destruction of Dresden by bombs and fire storm--a catastrophe that Vonnegut himself witnessed as a prisoner of war". "Kurt Vonnegut knows all the tricks of the writing game. So he has not even tried to describe the bombing. Instead he has written around it in a highly imaginative, often funny, nearly psychedelic story. The story is sandwiched between an autobiographical introduction and epilogue" (The New York Times). [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; In Dust Jacket]

Various
1969. First Edition. Newspaper format. 31 issues of the East Village Other, a tabloid-size magazine, measuring about 11.5" x 17". Issues in varying condition, most showing some minor dust soiling and foxing, with old folds and some closed tears along the extremities. Some issues bear a postal sticker with the subscriber's address. Overall in good to very good or better condition. Not really a "partial run" in the strictest sense, as it's not entirely consecutive. However, while we note numerous listings for individual issues of this magazine, priced from around $25 to well over $200 (that second number a little ambitious, we tend to think), we did not find any large lots offered for sale, making this a great start to anyone wishing to build a complete run of the magazine, which only ran from 1965 to 1971. The issues included here, from the chronological middle of the magazine's life surely represent some of the strongest and most interesting content produced by the contributors, who were on a never-ending quest to put out a countercultural magazine far to the left of the Village Voice, to say nothing of the mainstream press. Good - Very good +. Issues included are: Vol 2, nos. 2, 20, 22, 23; Vol. 3, nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 52; Vol. 4, nos. 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 23, 25, 27, 36, 39, 41, 43, 44, 49; Vol. 5, no. 2.
