With the carbon copy of a letter to her from Eisenstaedt, and a 1964 Radiogram in Italian from Sophia Loren, with a typewritten translation above it, "Dear Eisie, I have always said that you are the greatest and most sensistive photographer in the world ...".

        Chicago, Chicago

Tokyo: Bijutsu Shuppan-sha, 1969. First edition. Hardcover. Ishimoto's second major monograph. Foreword by Harry Callahan. While the book was released in 1969, the images are all from the 1950s and early 60s and capture an innocence and grace that would soon be a memory in the turbulent later years of the decade. The influence of Ishimoto's years at The Institute of Design is unmistakable but he has his own voice that is beautifully expressed in this body of work. A clean very near fine copy in a near fine slipcase with some very slight soiling. No dust jacket as issued. A nicer than usual copy. (Parr & Badger v1, 289)

Program: Thirteenth Awards Banquet - The Society of Experimental Test Pilots - 27 September 1969 - International Ballroom - The Beverly Hilton - Beverly Hills, California [Signed]

The Society of Experimental Test Pilots, Beverly Hills, California 1969 - SIGNED & INSCRIBED by famed Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins on front of program in blue ink: "To Stephen and Derek an Ian (Jan?) - M. Collins. Apollo 11". Signed only two months after the historic Apollo 11 mission. Michael Collins (born 1930) was the third man member of the Apollo 11 crew, who along with Neil Armstrong & Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin, were part of the first manned mission to the moon (July 1969), merely two months prior to this awards banquet dinner. Rare program for the Thirteenth Awards Banquet for The Society of Experimental Test Pilots, held on 27 September 1969 at the International Ballroom, The Beverly Hilton, in Beverly Hills, California. 4 pages on one large foldout sheet. The program lists SETP officers, 1969 board members, 1969 section chairmen, dinner menu, 1969 symposium & banquet chairmen, & then the actual program - with master of ceremonies being Robert A. Hoover, SETP President. Various awards are listed to be presented. Fellowships list includes Neil Armstrong. Rear cover lists corporate members.         The Godfather

Putnam 1969 - Mario Puzo (1969) ‘The Godfather’, US first edition, first printing with all first issue points present. Published by Putnam. Signed and inscribed on the half-title page: “For Joe Collins ‘an offer you can’t refuse’ Best wishes Mario Puzo”. Inscription appears to be for Joe Collins, an agent for numerous stars and father of actress Joan Collins and writer Jackie Collins (who also wrote about mobsters). Puzo inscribed the book fittingly in blood red pen quoting the famous threatening line from Don Corleone. It is possible that Collins made him indeed an offer to become his agent or similar. Condition: very good plus/ near fine with slight shelf wear. Dust jacket is price clipped, but unlike many first editions, the dust jacket does not make up over 50% of the price. At least until the 8th print run the dust jackets look exactly the same as the first print dust jacket, so replacement wrappers can be easily obtained should the collector wish an unclipped specimen. Signed first editions are exceptionally scarce, most often they are offered by dealers with a signature on a book plate or as ‘flat signed’ copies with dubious provenance at best. We had the signature authenticated and registered for the peace of mind. The only comparable signed first edition copy on the market is currently offered by a competitor in the US for USD 20,000. ‘The Godfather’ is a landmark novel which popularised the mafia genre. The famous 1972 Francis Ford Coppola film adaptation won three Oscars (including for Puzo for best adapted screenplay). The 1974 sequel earned six more Academy Awards and Puzo won again for the best adapted screenplay. Every male of that generation can quote several memorable lines from the movie/ book. Moreover, Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Diane Keaton have been immortalised for their acting performances. A highly desirable and collectable book that will always hold its value.         1969 Lynn Chadwick Signed Lithograph Seated Figure

1969 - We offer an original lithograph by Lynn Chadwick, titled “Seated Figure". It is 24 ½” x 32” on white wove paper and signed, numbered, and dated at the lower margin, “81/200 Chadwick ’69.” Housed in a period frame to: 24” x 32 ⅝”. Chadwick uses his distinctive, jaggedly anxious vocabulary to form the perennial archetype of the reclining nude. He was greatly influenced by Henry Moore who made endless riffs on the subject. Chadwick's work explored the “geometry of fear”, a term coined by the art historian Herbert Read to describe post war art in Europe. Lynn Chadwick (1914-2003) was born in London and studied at the Merchant Taylor’s School. He worked for designers and architects in the 1930’s before serving as a pilot in the Fleet Air Army in World War II. Chadwick's reputation as a sculptor was solidified during the period 1947 to 1952. His work is in the collections of Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York City, The Tate in London and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. *This print will definitely require additional shipping due to the size and weight* Condition: Very good condition, though not examined out of frame.       Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott, 1969. First Printing. Hardcover. Fine-/Fine. True First Edition, preceding the British edition by one year, of the first installment in the Aubrey-Maturin series. Tall, thick 8vo: 384pp, with double-page map of the western Mediterranean, c. 1800. Publisher's deep-blue cloth, spine stamped in gilt, fore-edge rough trimmed; pictorial dust jacket priced $6.95, with publisher's code 1169 on front flap. About Fine (spine head rubbed, slight dulling of gilt); Fine first-issue jacket, vibrant and bright. The Aubrey-Maturin series is a sequence of nautical historical novels-20 completed and one unfinished-set during the Napoleonic Wars and centering on the friendship between Captain Jack Aubrey of the Royal Navy and his ship's surgeon, Stephen Maturin, polymath and spy. In this installment, the naval action in the Mediterranean is closely based on the real-life exploits of Lord Cochrane, including a battle modeled after Cochrane's spectacular victory in the brig HMS Speedy over the vastly superior Spanish frigate El Gamo. The novel provided some episodes for the 2003 Peter Weir film, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. Note: With few exceptions (always identified), we only stock books in exceptional condition, with dust jackets carefully preserved in archival, removable polypropylene sleeves. All orders are packaged with care and posted promptly. Satisfaction guaranteed.

        Travels With My Aunt

London: The Bodley Head, 1969. First British edition of Greene's classic novel about smuggling currency out of Great Britain. Octavo, original cloth. Signed by Graham Greene on the title page. Fine in a near fine dust jacket with light wear. Jacket design by Stephen Russ. Uncommon signed. Described by Graham Greene as "the only book I have written just for the fun of it," Travels with My Aunt is the story of Hanry Pulling, a retired and complacent bank manager who meets his septuagenarian Aunt Augusta for the first time at what he supposes to be his mother's funeral. She soon persuades Henry to abandon his dull suburban existence to travel her way--winding through Brighton, Paris, Istanbul, and Paraguay. Through Aunt Augusta, one of Greene's greatest comic creations, Henry joins a shiftless, twilight society; mixes with hippies, war criminals, and CIA men; smokes pot; and breaks all currency regulations. It was the basis for the film directed by George Cukor, starring Maggie Smith and Alec McCowen. The screenplay by Jay Presson Allen and Hugh Wheeler. It was adapted as a musical in 2016 starring Patricia Hodge.
