On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Soundtrack LP, Signed

United Artists Records, Los Angeles California. 1969, 1969. Soundtrack LP record for the UA film of the same name starring George Lazenby as Ian Fleming's James Bond, and Diana Rigg as Tracy. Signed and inscribed to upper cover by both lead actors in metallic silver marker; 'Thanks! / George Lazenby / 007' and 'Best Wishes / Diana Rigg' (underline). Fine copy, sleeve a little creased and with corner deletion cut as often found. Previously sold through Bonhams Entertainment Auctions in London. . Filmed by Eon Productions in 1969, also starring Telly Savalas as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Directed by Peter Hunt, with a terrific storyline and slick script from the ever-reliable screenwriter Richard Maibaum, O.H.M.S.S. features superb action, spectacular locations, a marvelous John Barry score and theme by Louis Armstrong, and, in Contessa Teresa de Vicenzo (aka Tracy, aka Mrs James Bond), probably the greatest Bond Girl of all time. The movie, unlike most in the series, was faithful to the original Ian Fleming novel and is a fine thriller; one of the grittiest movies of the series.

        Four Poems (Rat Jelly)

1969. The photocopied typescript of four poems by Ondaatje that would be collected four years later in Rat Jelly. Given by Ondaatje to Greg Gatenby (later the director of Toronto's annual International Festival of Authors) in 1969 when Gatenby was Ondaatje's student. Includes "Rat Jelly," "Burning Hills" (2 pages), "Near Elginburg," and "Sullivan and the Iguana." All correspond to the versions published in 1973 except for one extra line in this earlier version of "Sullivan and the Iguana." One tiny hand-correction reproduced in "Burning Hills." Pages are folded once; some spotting to pages, mostly on versos, not affecting text. Near fine. Manuscript material from this early in Ondaatje's career is practically unknown in the market, and this group comes with impeccable provenance, only one step removed from the author. .

Presage No. XVI Vol. A: Surface Textures and Surface Tensions with Touch Appeal

Liechtenstein: Egaserp Établissements 1969 - First Edition. Quarto. Installment of volume A, issue number XVI, of Presage Paris Fashion Forecast. A leading quarterly in haute couture from 1961 through 1987, Presage seamlessly combined art, fashion, and design in colorful issues on current trends, providing an alternative to the stark commercial fabric catalogues of the day. Created in Paris and marketed to an American audience, each issue sought to predict the season's styles through a selection of fabric swatches, photo illustrations, patterns, and fashion design sketches for men, women, and children. The staggering subscription fee of $750 abetted the journal's lavish production, which incorporated unusual materials such as foil, lace, styrofoam, and cloth, among other media, into its variously sparse, Pop, and postmodern designs. A noteworthy experiment in graphic design and book arts and important document of the evolution of late twentieth century fashion, the quarterly belongs to several museum and library collections, including the Yale University Library, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Centre Pompidou. This installment features 95 fashion design sketches and prints, and83 fabric swatches. Very good in spiral-bound hand-painted Styrofoam and tinfoil boards, with a circular cutout on the front cover. Internal pages show varying signs of wear. [Attributes: First Edition; Soft Cover]
