Photograph of Buzz Aldrin standing on the moon with the American flag and the lunar module, signed by all three crew members: Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins

NASA 1969 - Color photograph (11 x 14 in.), original printed mount. Signatures lightly faded, some age-toning to mat, the photograph in fine condition. A CLASSIC SPACE PHOTOGRAPH, signed by the crew of Apollo 11, the first manned mission to the Moon: Neil Armstrong (commander), Buzz Aldrin (lunar module pilot), and Michael Collins (command module pilot). This photograph was prepared for presentation to the governor of each of the fifty states in conjunction with the tour of the Apollo 11 spacecraft and a lunar rock sample to be displayed in the state capital. This example does not bear the recipient’s name and was evidently a spare prepared in case of loss or damage. The examples presented to the governors are presumably in state archival collections. This is a very scarce large-format print of one of the most famous photographs in the history of space exploration, taken by Neil Armstrong on July 21, 1969. [Attributes: Signed Copy]

        Isabel viendo llover en Macondo

Buenos Aires: Editorial Estuario 1969 - Early reprint. Warmly inscribed by García Márquez to his nephew, Gustavo, on the first free leaf: "Para Gustavito, / digno hijo de su / padre, que es hijo / del mío, con el / cariño de su tío, / GABO / [rule] / 1971." ["For Gustavito, deserving son of your father, who is the son of my own, with the affection of your uncle, GABO 1971"]. Publisher's bright yellow paper wrappers, lettered in green and blue and with green illustration of an umbrella to front wrapper. A good copy, variously worn with creasing and light soiling to wrappers, some offsetting to first free leaf, light evidence of water damage to text block edge, text block starting at front hinge but with all text intact and relatively clean. A well-used copy, charming with the author's inscription, from the library of the author's close friend's daughter. First published in the magazine Mito in 1955 as Monologo de Isabel viendo llover en Macondo [Monologue of Isabel Watching it Rain in Macondo}, this short monologue is one of the first appearances of the town of Macondo after La hojarasca. It deals with many of García Márquez's major themes, including death, solitude, and magical realism, and is told from the point of view of a young woman as her town is inundated with torrential rain, resulting in corpses from a flooded morgue floating down the street. This particular edition contains an essay on the author and the themes of his work by literary critic Ernesto Volkening. [Attributes: Signed Copy; Soft Cover]

Er malte im Rahmen einer späten Neusachlichkeit. Dies gilt auch für seine anderen Motive wie Bilder aus den Alpen, Landschaftsstudien, Stilleben.       np: np, (1969). Third edition. Wraps. Near fine. 8vo. Publisher's wraps in original glassine. SIGNED by Ruscha at inside front cover. Mild toning and chipping to glassine with price sticker at front flap and some creasing to flaps. Distributor sticker at final page. Trivial touches of wear to wraps at edges. Interior bright and clean. Near fine. Third edition of the first of Ruscha's sixteen books and an iconic early artist's book. Inspired by the look and feel of the books he encountered at the bouquiniste stands on the Left Bank during a 1961 trip to Paris, as well as his own work as a typesetter and printers devil, Ruscha self-published TWENTYSIX GAS STATIONS with an aesthetic reminiscent of iconic Editions Gallimard paperbacks. Conceiving first of the title, Ruscha took photographs to fill the requisite number on a road trip from Los Angeles to visit his mother in his hometown of Oklahoma City. The photographs, labeled with the station name and location, together form a dotted line between LA and Oklahoma, creating out of these stoically framed images of banal locations a deep emotional resonance.
