        2001: A Space Odyssey.

New American Library, New York 1968 - First edition of the author's most well-known work. Octavo. Inscribed by the author. An excellent copy in a near fine dust jacket that shows just a touch of wear. Housed in a custom clamshell box. Arthur C. Clarke wrote this novel while Stanley Kubrick created the film, the two collaborating on both projects. The novel is much more detailed and intimate, and definitely easier to comprehend. Even though history has disproved its "predictions," it's still loaded with exciting and awe-inspiring science fiction. --Brooks Peck Dazzling.wrenching.a mind-bender. [slight rub to one signature] "Michener was elected to the House of Commons in 1957, where-after he served as speaker of the house until 1962, and then in diplomatic postings between 1964 and 1967. He was that year appointed as governor general by Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, on the recommendation of Prime Minister of Canada, Lester B. Pearson, to replace Georges Vanier as viceroy, and he occupied the post until succeeded by Jules Léger in 1974. Michener proved to be a populist governor general whose tenure is considered to be a key turning point in the history of his office. On October 15, 1962, Michener was sworn into the Queen's Privy Council for Canada,[2] giving him the accordant style of The Honourable; however, as a former governor general of Canada, Michener was entitled to be styled for life with the superior form of The Right Honourable. He subsequently served on various corporate and charitable boards and sat as Chancellor of Queen's University before he died on August 6, 1991" - Wikipedia [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]

THE TEACHINGS OF DON JUAN. A Yaqui Way of Knowledge. Inscribed.

University of California Press, Berkeley 1968 - Castaneda, Carlos. THE TEACHINGS OF DON JUAN. A Yaqui Way of Knowledge. Inscribed. Berkeley: University of California Press, 1968. True First Edition of the Author's first book. 8vo, (xii), 196pp. Publisher's medium gray cloth covered boards lettered in gold, green endpapers. Elegantly inscribed in blue fountain pen on the dedication page: "With all the best, Carlos Castaneda". True First edition of Castaneda's very scarce first book & the first book in the Don Juan series. Issued in a small edition [likely 750 - 1250 copies] by a university press, the book was well-read on campus & copies of this, the true 1st [not to be confused with the later Simon & Schuster, 1973 printing] are difficult to find in collectible condition. A seminal 60's book of some great counter-cultural significance through which Don Juan's perception & mastery of "nonordinary reality" opened up the mind of an era to the possibilities of a more mystical & magical existence, linking various themes of spirituality, drugs & metaphysics. A fine fresh exceptional example of this profoundly influential work, in an excellent dustwrapper - the nicest we have seen in years. A spectacular signed copy of this much sought after book in a fine custom fitted slipcase. $7500 [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]

To Paint Is To Love Again Including Semblance of a Devoted Past

Grossman, New York 1968 - First edition. Folio. Small dampstain at the bottom of the front board else fine in near very good dustwrapper with scattered light stains and general wear. Inscribed by Miller to his second wife June Mansfield: "For June from Henry. Note: Unfortunately the reproductions are not good -- weak and off color -- sorry!" A collection of Miller's painted art, along with the text of a previously published limited edition that comprises Miller's correspondence with longtime friend Emil Schnellock about art and painting. A great association. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]
